Have you ever written a friend a letter on his birthday?

Sure. I've sent birthday cards before. What I write is entirely dependent on the friend. Sometimes it's something genuine, but most of the time it's some kind of joke or piss take.

No, but had an old college room-mate handwrite a letter to me after visiting him to attend a wedding of a mutual college friend. A nice genuine touch, nothing much. Just saying how he enjoyed being my room-mate in college, and how it was nice that I visited him and listened to him. (He was going thru a divorce).

I send birthday cards to family and close friends. I write a personal sentence or two, so people instantly know it's from me and end with congratulations. It's their birthday after all.
That's about it.

Nope. I even give em stupid gifts sometimes. Gave this girl a hockey puck for her bday once. She opened the gift and was stunlocked at how dumb my gift was, but her face was priceless😁

Written letters are powerful. Did that a couple of times, not for birthdays though.
There is something about getting a letter that is hand written that cannot be captured via phone texting.

That said, I like to write some good rhymes for birthday. Use ChatGPT as help and to write something funny. You give the AI the story and it puts it into a rhyme.

Just curious, was thinking of doing this and wondered if anyone had any good examples.

Never done it before, but will try it out. Sounds more interesting then the usual text message.

Am myself fooling around with a poem for a girl currently. ChatGPT puts out some golden lines. Having loads of good laughs.

You stood there silver shadows lie,
a question written in your eye.
You turned to me, the night winds stirred:
"Who art thou, stranger? Speak thy word!"

Remember when Facebook first started, what you write online stays forever.

So do letters too, if you keep them🤣

And choose your friends carefully. Even if you have the same hobbies and are best friends for years letters can be incriminating
