Quite liked/would've preferred the dark blue guys from the minifig series.

The baby-blue armour was what put me off the last 'Space' theme.
I think it would be nice if they created the theme with more than just two factions, fill out the universe. Maybe the dark blue could still happen.

Edit:
Actually that may all be one kit (the orange vehicles/squad) - from what I have read other kits will have squaddies with different colors.

Well there. That sounds very nice. We might all be happy? Except how this does not quite look like the Blacktron reboot some of us hoped for.
But we can enjoy it on it's own as a new thing.

The problem is with the exception of Town and Star Wars (maybe Ninjago?) Lego don't seem all that interested in creating lengthy franchises or themes any more.

Every two/three years we get a rebooted Castle theme while elsewhere Alien Conquest/Power Miners/Pharaoh Quest were very short-lived. I suspect Monster Fighters may possibly be going the same way, but the fact remains that in the last decade TLG have been notorious at not giving original themes that second wave of sets.

But...hopefully i'm wrong. Lets hope this one gets a better grounding.

A very tiny prelim picture for Galaxy Squad. Note that because it is prelim, colors, some design and minifigs could possibly vary.

Damn it, I'm going to have to buy the entire line.

Fire Brigade for $123 on Warehouse Deals.

Picked up Winter Post Office for $10 off, and Ghost Train for $20 off.

One present done, and my Christmas diorama can be started!

Sets acquired over the last month or so (including today's marathon) from clearance sales at Walmart, Target, TRU, B&N, etc.

Space kits:

Space LEGO holds a special place in my heart, and I 've been meaning to get this small subtheme from 2011 for a while now.

Train kits:

Got the Maersk (again) since it is heading OOP soon. Planning on building it, the Emerald Night and the new Horizon Express in the new year using these tracks. Still looking for a cheap set 7936 though.

City kits:

The Great Vehicles and the bank have been on my list for a while. The Forest sets just kind of fell into place due to a ridiculous discount - but hey a bear!

Random kits:

Finished the Pharaoh's Quest theme and I love the design of the PoP fortress. Mining truck was free, but I missed out on The Mine set that a bunch of you found from that Walmart misprint.

Also my last two MBA kits arrived in the mail this week, and I picked up two newish books at B&N. The LEGO Book is a new revised version with a lot of history of various themes, though it definitely skews to the more recent themes.

I never get lucky with clearance sales. Only luck I had was grabbing the Earth Defense HQ from BN last month.

But looking at those pics...I MUST RESIST GETTING INTO TRAINS! I MUST!

I was never a train guy, but damn do the newer trains look sexy. That will be extremely dangerous because of how much space it would take up to keep tracks up.

Older Lego book was better in my opinion. And it came in that sweet slip case with the secondary book: Standing Small.

Also, saw the Ninjago guide in a store today, and sure enough the green ninja was stolen from the book.

I didn't snap pics of the Ninjago buys, partially because they are upcoming presents for someone, but I did get the guide book - it is insanely easy to pop the minifig out, so I predict a lot of missing green ninjas.

I'm just going to run enough track to fit the 3 trains on a display shelf - the rest of the track will be for special occasions (or if kids want to play) and I can lay down a temporary loop on the floor or something.

You know you want that Horizon Express kit... it's a Jamie-designed rolling modular!

Where on earth did you find the Scorpion Pyramid this late in the game? I got mine on clearance like 10 months ago. I still need to get the Desert Rover polybag to complete the Pharaoh's Quest theme.

TRU.ca had a 50% off sale a few weeks back on all Pharaoh's Quest, Atlantis, Alien Conquest and World Racers sets.

I don't have either of the polybags for the PQ theme - unless I can pick them up at close to original price, I don't usually bother with polys.

Bone just stole my words. I have considered some train sets in the past but talked myself out of them. This one, I must have.

The other train sets look like neat little sets to me, but the Horizon Express was the first one that made me go "DAMN!" at first sight. That is a seriously sexy set. I think the sleek lines and the orange are what grabbed me first. But then I watched the video and started looking at the close up pictures and I am in love. So much awesome SNOT work in there too.

Ok,the light fixtures were just so damn cool! I was wondering what the hell I was building till I flipped the page and saw what they were, fantastic.

That is one of my favorite and least favorite parts of that set. It is SOOOOO repetitive to build those columns. But damn, do they not look awesome when done. The ends justifies the means in that respect.

Just wait until you get to Fire Brigade. Dat brick texture... You will know it when it happens.

There are a ton of new sets coming out in January that I will want to pick up, but the only two sets I will be getting definitely on Day 1 are Arkham Asylum and the Horizon Express.

Aaaaand first floor done! I've had a great time so far,the lighting fixtures and lettering were really creative. I cant wait to start on the 2nd floor but I think I'm gonna hold off on the build for now and stretch it out even though I have Fire Brigade up next.

Did you get an extra pair of legs in that GE set too? Not counting the display trousers on the wall.

That's what I do. I use the top of a sideboard for the emerald night and maersk, but they need to sit on tracks to do them justice really. I have some extra track I got from bricklink but I've not got around to power modding them yet (probably wont with EN because its a bit ugly)

I need to free that space up for tower bridge so might run a narrow shelf all along the wall, like a thick picture rail that they can stand on in single file

Daaaaat brick texture. :swoon:

So did anyone else email to get the release forms to submit ideas for a new theme for Lego? I'm just doing my idea up now.

*raises hand*

Unfortunately, when I started running up my notes for it I noticed that some elements had been covered in the Adventurers theme. I think my one is a bit more interesting, coherent and fun though, so we'll see!

Just found out that DK Publishing will be releasing a sequel to Standing Small, but this time as a full-length separate book of its own - supposed to be released in April.

Yeah seeing their examples I had to make some modifications to my idea but I think it's just made it more than compelling.

Have any of you tried piecing together a set through bricklink? Seems like you could save a ton of cash if you dont mind not having the box or instructions.

I am in the process of brick linking cafe corner. I went to the online Lego pick a brick first and bought all the pieces I could directly from them. I have about 70 lots left of about 700 pieces I would guess.

Did my Quinjet build on the weekend. Absolutely loved every minute of it. Detail is great, all the extra/moveable parts. Such a nice kit to start back into LEGO with!

My local BigW had the Imperial Shuttle for sale on the weekend, $260 (AUD) with a destroyed box. I was SO close to picking it up.

You should have done it! It's going OOP!

Quinjet is godly. Swoosh ability set to 11.

So tempted. Retail out here is like $480 too.
You should get it. That set is not swoosh able (due to size and weight), but is it sexy.
