Yeah, but Santa Darth Maul!

I havent gotten it, nor will I (most likely not at least), but I just wanted to let others know.

Speaking of which...you busted open that Death Star yet?

Not yet - the move is finally complete and my fiancee came and organized cleaned. I'm focusing on Guild Wars 2 Halloween event at the moment. After that, I'm cleaning a little bit of backloggery and finalizing all the wedding plans.

I sadly need to finish the wedding planning and organizing before I fully commit that beast, haha.

Just agreed to buy the Technic Unimog, Excavator and Supercar from a departing workmate for an absolute steal (he's leaving the country) He has them made up, making him disassemble them would be a bit harsh, right?

Yeah, I figured something along those lines, I'm using snot pieces elsewhere (lantern etc) but just having trouble with the placement and getting things to fit. In the file I linked to I've got the yellow stripe part itself built for example, but I'm not sure how it attaches. It could be that LDD isn't ideal for this sort of thing, but I don't have the luxury of the bricks at home to play with, so I'm giving this a shot. Thanks for the help though!

I might have a play at the weekend. I won't have the right colours but I should have all of those pieces.

Yes but.

Yes it'd be harsh if you're getting a great deal, but pulling something apart only to build it again is a pain. Plus you see it finished which spoils things a bit. Can you pay a small child to disassemble them for you?

I bought the emerald night and it came built which I hadn't realised and it was definitely somewhat deflating.

Poor orange bricks, all neglected and lonely, out of sight. At least they serve a very important supporting role.

I now feel like I should build a MOC using all the orange bricks I own as soon as I get home from work!
But I know I won't actually do it, I have a couple games and a cat waiting for my attention.
And other house tasks, but we don't need to talk about such hideously dull things.

I had a go at that with this space craft.

Shameless Halloween repost from earlier this month:

Put them all together, slap the Haunted House on top of the hill, and voila! But what of the secret of the pool next to the house?

A glowing portal to the depths of hell!

A ghost, with all lights in the apartment off. The glow does show up rather well.

A WILD SHELOB APPEARS!

Cue dramatic lighting for Shelob and the werewolf!

just bought Helms Deep from Amazon UK - £69 (reduced from £99)

My kids had already expressed an interest seeing it built in a store - more as a castle set than LotR which they aren't familiar with

(Btw, do you think LotR is a suitable movie trilogy for an 8 and 11 year old? My 8 year old daughter is reading the Hobbit at school so she's interested in the connection)

i just imported a wish list for the UCS millenium falcon to bricklink, feels like a bloody slippery slope...*

*soo good.

just spent the last half an hour going through the list replacing certain pieces with cheaper pieces that perform the same task.

my plan is to now just buy parts every now ant then whenever I get something at brick link anyway.

are you filtering out pieces you already have (eg manually or through rebrickable?)

I'd say so. My 9-year-old girl has seen it and enjoyed it, and though she found some bits a little scary, they were "safe" scary (if you know what I mean). The only issue is the length of the films and the latter half of the trilogy where things start to get harder to follow (for some children, anyway) but if she's bright and attentive, and not easily-bored, then she'll get a lot out of the films.

On the LEGO front, I took delivery of several big packets of bricks, plates, trees, plants etc. and spent a couple of hours on the starting plate for my daughter's dino diorama (dino-rama?). First time ever doing something like this, but it's come together really well. Lots of finishing to do, but I think she'll really like it, and it's given me a good idea of exactly what I need to buy her so she can do the next one, and how much it will cost.

Pics later today!

Lotr is a perfect trilogy. No sex or language. Just some violence and scares for that age. But a wonderful story.

<sigh> Made the mistake of going back and reading some earlier posts and all of the talk of Fire Brigade going oop drove me to my Amazon wishlist...

At least I picked it up for 125 with free prime shipping (damaged box) but I havent even received my Grand Emporium from yesterdays purchase!

The first Galaxy Squad confirmation! Looking forward to seeing the squaddies themselves, and with TLG acknowledging them this early, we may be looking at a spring release instead of summer.

I just finished up building the mini modulars this past weekend. Creative bunch at LEGO getting them to come up with the buildings at a smaller scale. I didn't find dealing with all those tiny pieces to be a pleasant experience though.

A very easy guess the set....

I didn't expect it to be so many parts.... sad news though, I'm missing (so far) 4 1x2 white tiles. Anyone else have that? I've used substitutes but it's gonna be a pain to replace them later on.

Imperial Shuttle?

*looks for insane amount of 1x1 bricks with hole in them*

Yup. Imperial Shuttle.

I got a question. Do you guys feel it's wrong to nab those pre-order figures if there is not intention of pre-ordering the game?

Well, it makes the Chase McCain figure only $1 each as opposed to $2+ blind-bagged minifigures. You can grab a few for friends and family at a low cost.

Who doesn't want their own Chase McCain? He goes great next to Batman, Spider-Man and Indiana Jones!

Each reserve card at Target isn't an actual reservation. It's more like a coupon: Spend $1, get a $5 gift card if you buy the game at Target.
Basically you're getting $4 off a future purchase with the game at MSRP (or $1 off if you think like that).

The last parts for the batmobiles arrived. In an effort to free up my credit card for Xmas I'm offering them up for AUD$45 for the black ones and $90 for the camo ones plus postage if anyone is interested. Saves me putting them on eBay for $60 and them taking $20 cut.

Really hope Isengard is a tower set. That piece count on the Balrog set has me worried, also the price, WTH?! Lastly 2 Gandalfs and still no Gandalf the White. Regret buying Gandalf Arrives now. Skeptical but waiting for pictures, Isengard could be good.

God, this thread is pure torture when you're broke. :( My most recent acquisition is still the Fire Brigade. Starting to look a bit brighter, though...

What....Gandalf Arrives is awesome! Anyway, the weird price/piece count combo on the Balrog leads me to believe while he may be "brick-built," the build will still include several large, unique pieces.

I hope that there is a light brick in it's maw.

Story wise The Betrayal of Isengard it should be Gandalf the White shouldn't it?
