Until I saw this thread, I never realized GAF has such a younger crowd. I'm 25 and I feel old.

The more I see of the Wii U, the less I want my pre-order. I'm mainly not canceling it just in case it becomes a surprise hit this holiday season and I can sell it for 4 million dollars to the King of Spain.
But buying a 'special' version of a console that has been out for 7 years is probably smart.

It's not about getting it at midnight because omg what if they run out! It's about not being able to wait because the game looks effing awesome and you want to play it asap.
Those metal cases were garbage if I recall. Scratched discs left and right, no?

I did not know the blue on the console was strong enough to illuminate a bit of the console? That is cool. I love blue led type of stuff. When I leave my gaming rig on overnight with the big side window and my blue lighting it looks really cool.
I have my Halo4 console payed off and I have all black entertainment unit with smoked black glass shelving. The blue on the console will look badass in my set up can't wait now!

Middle of nowhere Australia (Blackburn North, Melbourne) last night:
About 30-40persons showed up. More than I expected really for this location.
They handed out free soda and donuts!
My and my buddy ended up sitting at the same table as the parents who drove their kids to this... At 28 I was probably the oldest purchaser there (I'm suspecting most were 17-21) besides one 40 year old in a Star Wars T-shirt. With the exception of limited hardware launches this might be my last midnight launch participation I think.

Delivery Status by a company called Junecloud. There's also an iOS app that syncs with it. Both are fantastic, and I use them all the time.

I was at the campus store during the Reach launch and it was nothing like that. Halo 4 appears to be a bigger deal. Every Microsoft employee on my Friends list is now playing 4. Bastards.

Midnight Launch at my local Gamestop got cancelled , i was looking forward to going too. The Reach launch was pretty fun. We played Halo 3 LAN in the store for a few hours before the launch, and i ended up winning the special edition( the one with the noble team statues) in a raffle. Good times.
