Buggiest game of the year always wins game of the year. Except that Uncharted 2 thing. That was an outlyer.
Is XCOM really buggier than AC3? Not that AC3 has any chance of being their goty. It'll either be TWD or XCOM.

Are we in agreement that the first GOTY podcast was the best one? And that they have progressively gotten worse?
I hate how they decide which game is the final goty as all they do is shit on the other title rather than praise the games merits. Skyrim vs Saints Row 3 made neither game sound that good as all they did was bitch.
The walking dead is going to get knocked out early, you guys. It is not going to get runner-up. They're going to recognize the fact that while they enjoyed the game, as did I, it isn't so much of a game as it is just a story. There were better "games" out this year. Jeff is going to be presenting this argument almost assuredly since he focuses on how games play, and not just their story aspects. Remember, he completely dismissed any sort of story aspects of red dead redemption and basically wrote off the entire game.
what is with the bastion hate. i thought it was a fun game to play, with a great art style. plus an amazing soundtrack to boot.
Wait why was york not best character. unless he lost to mordin there is no other option
Nah, you've got a point there. XCOM is pretty buggy, but it doesn't have anything on the level of AC3 bug vids I've seen.Is XCOM really buggier than AC3? Not that AC3 has any chance of being their goty. It'll either be TWD or XCOM.
It was a pretty good game, not GotY though. If I had my way, everyone would put Dark Souls as GotY.
That's a good point. In hindsight, listening to that final debate made me want to play neither Skyrim nor Saints Row.
He loves zombie fiction though.
If I had my way Yakuza 4 would have been 2011 GOTY and Xenoblade Chronicles for 2012. The likelihood of Xenoblade being mentioned by the Gisntbomb crew is highly unlikely![]()
Patrick didn't finish it, iirc.Wow, totally forgot about Xenoblade. I keep putting that game off because of school, but it definitely deserves some consideration.
Has anyone at Giant Bomb played it?
any guesses for 2012's 2011 GOTY?
i can't think of any game that's maintained a strong presence this year from 2011. maybe SR3 with the DLC? but they all seemed to think none of it was very good.
Patrick and Brad are probably the only ones that are remotely interested in JRPGs and they don't really play them much either. lolXenoblade was probably the best game released this year and it was super inventive as well, but I doubt it wins any awards from the western media considering how few reviews it got.
Giantbomb didn't even review it.
Amnesia maybe?any guesses for 2012's 2011 GOTY?

Did they ever play The Last Story? I don't remember.
Mario 3d Land most likely

Sid Meier already made that game. Heck, they did a remake of it!XCOM is MUCH buggier than AC3 and they are progress blocking bugs (at times). I still find it amazing that it hasn't been patched yet.
XCOM was a great game, but the things that stick out the most to me are the crippling bugs which forced me to reload saves or kill ironman campaigns.
The only thing AC3 makes me want is an open world pirate game. Because man, defying all odds, the privateer stuff in that game is the best.
I think Patrick got into it a fair amount? I don't recall to be honest.I don't think he really started it and only spent an hour or two with it. It's an extremely long game and I don't think any of them would have had the time.
In regards to The Last Story they made no mention of playing it at all.

i mean if there's any justice it should be dark souls: prepare to durante edition. It should be Dark Souls.

booooooooooooooooooo............Although, to be fair, we got the Brono Trigger Endurance Run. lol

Man, I hated Xenoblade so much...The last 4 hours of that game are atrocious.
Blame NoA for releasing it when most people had already boxed up their Wii's.

I'd rather Johnny V got to make that Pirates of the Caribbean game instead of some delayed controlling AC engine gunk.
What? The last four hours are pretty similar to the rest of the game but with more interesting encounters and enemy design once you get past the level spike (and there's areas to go to and enemies to kill to get up to speed).
Definitely.
What's the GB content where Ryan plays tapper? I think it might have been the nostalgiafest, but I can't remember.
They REALLY need to add tags to their videos.
i think Hitman is a dark horse. it comes out at just the right time

Yep. I find their GOTY podcasts unbearable, it's just a bitch fest. They're all stressed out about something that's completely meaningless.
Just talk about the games you liked and why you liked them, or the games that disappointed you or whatever the category is. There's no need to try to pick one game to represent the opinions of four different people.

That's why they have the individual lists.
They do that already.
More positivity would be nice. I'm not sure who's benefiting from the pissing matches you mentioned. People still shit on Brad for the BS2 DLC thing, these argument certainly stay with people it appears. They do lists, I think it would be cool to have some good discussion as group to go along with them instead of the pissing contest they currently have.
For example, last year could have had a podcast where they fondly look back on games like Saints Row 3 or Skyrim and discuss the positive (or negative) impact each of these left on them. Instead we got a bunch of shitty arguments trying to prove one was better than the other. I know there's an audience that eats that shit up, but I find it disappointing. It also makes no sense for a small and personality focused site like Giantbomb.
