Nice beard, but doesn't count.

Sure it does. Countless people didn't shave on the first. If it promotes the cause, fuck the actual rules.

Shaving on November first is not the point. Exposure for the causes is.

Meh. I stop shaving when it gets colder because I am a runner and a beard keeps my face warmer. Wasn't gonna shave and not have a beard to keep my face warm at my meet Friday. :{

I fresh shaved on the first. Got a nice thick base going right now. Few more days and it'll start being a beard proper.

The fuck is this beard shit? MOvember. MOUSTACHE. Suck it up and look creepy for a month, it's for a good cause.

I have reddish hair. Have you ever seen a redhead with a moustache? It's atrocious and embarrassing, but damn it, it's Movember, so I'm growing my best shitty moustache I can.

I just shaved down from my beard to this creepy ass thing on my upper lip. My gf wants me to text her a pic, but I'm holding out for the in person thing so I can fully creep her out.

Instead of a moustache, I'm trying for a full beard for the first time in my life (this won't be pretty). It's itchy as heck right now, lol.

Shaved Halloween night in preparation for my costume (S3 Zuko) and haven't touched a razor since. For some reason it's definitely been easier than last year, where I spent two weeks in agony and finally shaved it after purchasing Rayman Origins on launch.

Wanted to do Movember, but the girlfriend complained. She's already annoyed by how itchy I make her whenever we fool around, but it's my face dammit! If I make it a month and think I look nice I may even extend it into a winter beard!

The actual cause is for people to donate money and learn about men's cancers.
Exposure is a minor point, but just not shaving as a trend or arguing technical shaving rules is stupid.

Like if you haven't learned anything about cancer or donated, shave off your beard. You look like a clown.

I've done no shave Spring 2009-now.

Haven't seen smooth skin on my face since I stopped working at McDonald's when I was 20. Beards/mustaches/the whole combo are the best.

Exactly.

Mine is driving me crazy, and I'm about to start a new job. I can't walk in on day one looking like this, lol. I should have thought this through better. :p

This thing on my upper lip is the most disgusting POS I've ever had. I hate mustaches so much and I'm sure it hates me back.

But damn it all to hell if I'm not sticking it out until the end of the month.

Stupid November.

Already so tired of this thing.

I'm kinda hoping I reach "bushy" level before November ends or I'll have a feeling it was a failure and will not repeat.

If your friends and people are donating to you because of the beard, then great, more power to you. But growing a beard does nothing to 'promote the cause'. The moustache is the symbol and the 'brand', the beard is not. It's like pink ribbons for breast cancer awareness.

If you have just the moustache then it's no big deal, it'll be obvious what it's for and you might even get some donations out of it.

that look is cool!

started this year with movember. maybe i ll keep the full beard afterwards or i ll go for some guy fawkes style. for years i am just around with stubble, never clean shaved

13 days into Movember and my moustache is TERRIBLE! It's thicker than it looks, half the hairs are like some transparent, albino cave dwelling moss that just has no presence on my face.

Still, I've raised about $200 so far so it's all good. But geeze, considering I'm 37 it really is a woeful tash. I'd be beaten by a 10 year old Mexican lad easily.

haven't shaved at all. can't grow a beard for shit. i have to go back to work tomorrow, thinking i should shave it off. it's so patchy and isn't thick at all.

Um I don't have a beard. What are you talking about?

Nice job! I am at $115 now but my current job is a little different than the one I had 2 years ago when I officially participated. It's harder for me to raise $$ in the work place since I'm more isolated. Super happy to have even raised this much though.

Keep up the good work, everyone!

I'm in, should we start Team GAF?

Edit: Any clever name ideas, or should I just start "Team GAF"?

Did you end up starting a team, btw? I still haven't joined one but I'd be down to join Team GAF (or whatever).

HAGRID!

Or a LOTR Dwarf.

Anyway, this is the first time I tried growing facial hair out. Mustache is weak and bad looking and I apparently am incapable of growing anything near the bottom sides of my mouth, meaning incapable of having a normal looking beard. Boo. Shaving it on friday because it looks stupid. I feel like I failed the Man Exam

My "beard" is awful, so patchy, lol. I'm 36, apparently I will never be able to grow a full, thick beard. Doesn't make sense, my father has had a full beard almost my entire life.

How do you make it twist or whatever at the ends? Do you put something on it?

Well...

I use pomade for my hair, so I just use that to twist the ends and that does the trick.

Only rocked it for one week now (I cheated. I just shaved my beard and there it was.) so there are probably better products out there. Pomade works for me though.

Various brands of moustache wax exist of various levels of stiffness, Clubman being the most readily available in stores at least in the US. Tons more available online.

I use American Crew Forming Cream since over time your stache can become trained and doesn't seem to need much help staying put. I've heard AmCrew Fibre is great too if you need a bit more hold, depending on the thickness of your hairs. Seems thin hairs need more support, and AmCrew may not be enough.
