So what is the "importance" of each state's votes determined by, for someone unfamiliar with US elections? I see Florida being seen as a pivotal state, but what makes it more important than all the others?

Looking good for Obama right now. Pieces are falling into place. WI called, OH and CO still tilting to Obama, Florida up in the air, west coast still to come.

I don't know about CO. Democrat areas near Denver have reported, while very little else. It's closer than I think it should be to look favorable to Obama.

Pot Law in CO is very close.

I'm starting to understand how voting works for the president, but still feel that it's very wrong that getting the most votes doesn't mean you actually win and that it's down to a very small number of people, I'm guessing in the US most people don't feel this way?

Just hope that the House will be willing to work with the Senate and the President this next term so shit can actually get done. If the Republicans stall again and again I hope they get swept out of their seats.

Can we get a list of all the seats up for grabs by politicians talking about rape and how they're doing?

I really hope Romney losing makes the GOP throw out the religious nuts and embrace true small gov so I can have a real choice. (banning gay marriage/abortion is the opposite of small gov)

What about the religious nuts on the tea party side? I still find it odd that people think only republicans are christians now, I think its almost an even split not even all republicans are religious.

I love how nearly all media, even international ones (less prone to the news circus than us ones), are still pretending it's a dead heat. Wolf Blitzers everywhere.

The religious nuts ARE the GOP. They can't throw them out or else they don't have a party.

Anyway, it seems like that Romney needs Ohio or it's game over.
