Yea, the TV News people are not going to call anything without certainty after what happened in 2000. You have no idea how burned they got on that deal.

like I said. Ohio is only a question mark for ratings purposes. Shit is a wrap.

So what is the "importance" of each state's votes determined by, for someone unfamiliar with US elections? I see Florida being seen as a pivotal state, but what makes it more important than all the others?

The number of points they're worth is based on population

The amount people care on them depends on how close they are--most states are dead obvious well before the votes happen

Florida is worth lots of points and has been on the closer end in the last few elections

Wildcard berths that can't beat teams without a winning record should have homefield advantage
Indiana GOP now seriously regretting running Lugar out of office.

Bronco's got this. It's not even close at this point. There's only a hardon for Florida because it's close, but Bronco doesn't need it at all to win.

Number of votes has to do with population. Importance boils down to how close it's predicted to be in that state.

I love how nearly all media, even international ones (less prone to the news circus than us ones), are still pretending it's a dead heat. Wolf Blitzers everywhere.
To be fair they all want ratings. That's something every news service aspires for. Can't have people tuning out and watching Law & Order reruns.

What about the religious nuts on the tea party side? I still find it odd that people think only republicans are christians now, I think its almost an even split not even all republicans are religious.

All the GOP had to do is put a non white guy against obama and get the crazy fuck votes. They didn't need to throw the religious nuts their entire policy/strategy.

So, it seems to me that Obama will take Florida. The big blue cities are like 60% counted, while the small red rural areas are 100% in.

I hope I see this correct and Obama pulls away.
