The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

The rating is more for how much they think a general audience will like it. It's more of a buyers guide. That's why you gotta read the actual review.

This.

Also, most of the big AAA franchises are playing it pretty safe, where nothing about the latest games is really bad, but they're not doing much new or interesting either, so if you play a lot of games it's hard to get excited about them.

That was in the Gamespot days. Jeff has said that they're a personality driven site moreso now because people don't need buying advice as much. It's easier to find now than it's ever been before.

Alex? I did not know he likes Halo. Also Brad wanted to get all excited during the QL, but Jeff did not let him, lol. I just played the first two missions of the game, I really like it so far, pretty and fun.

One can recognize a good game and still not be exited about it.

4 stars means "good" on their scale while 3 would mean "average". As disapointing as halo 4 playing it safe is, i don't think labeling halo 4 as "good" is in stark contrast to their opinion.

There's no reason to wish for low scores just because, whats the point in that? I prefer optimism to cynisism. Besides: the review text, the quicklook and the talk on the podcast are more than enough information to make up your own opinion of the game. Ultimately that is what counts.

Quick Look: WWE'13 (Jeff, Vinny) (1:15:09)

The greatest ghost story ever told.

Not watched yet, but everything is right about this setup to make this awesome

edit - Still not watched.

I want to!

Giantbomb should just Tom chick it up. Review games like how they really feel :)

Everyone should Chick it up. I can't say I like his writing style but I love the concept that polish / working fine isn't a free pass to a 7.5+ score. That should be the minimum for even being worth a review, especially on a website like GB that reviews so few games.

I was dying through Vinny and Jeff making the story for their wrestling game. Holy shit. This was probably my QLOTY.

Jeff hasn't been earnest in his feelings with Halo, it feels like his is bottling something up with that game. He can see the quality of Halo 4 and can write about it and score it but personally, it seems like he more tired of halo than he is of COD.

"You smell what I'm cooking? It's time travel."

The story stuff is so dumb that it's amazing, haha. I love that they found one even more nonsensical than theirs.

I'd love for something like during a TNT they just lock Jeff up with WWE 13 and have him work on a story and then come back at the end of the stream to see what hes made.

THIS! What an incredible quick look. If anyone who worked on that game was smart, the next iteration would be just that create a story mode, but greatly expanded.

My interest in Tank! Tank! Tank! was less than zero before, but that giant robo-gorilla mode and the thing with the faces looks pretty fun. They were bang on when they compared it to a late 90s arcade game, this reminds me of the type of game the Dreamcast had in spades.

$50 feels a bit steep, but I might give it a shot if Batman's not launch day.
