Pretty much. I'm glad Obama won, as I think he's far better at international relations than Romney would likely ever be. Had Romney won I probably wouldn't have been laughing at the US, but rather been wondering how so many could vote against their best interests just to appease the rich, white old men of the GOP.

See, the thing that all the Republicans fixated on was the part of the speech where he said "If you've got a business—you didn't build that." That particular part of the speech taken on its own makes it sound like a business owner didn't actually build his business, which of course prompted lots of "job creators" to get up in arms about how they did single-handedly build their businesses from the ground up with no help at all.

However, if you look at the quote in context:



The "that" that Obama mentions refers to the infrastructure that made the business possible in the first place: roads, briidges, etc.

Basically, it's like the people being hopelessly confused by what the "I won't do that" meant in the Meatloaf song without realizing that if the lyrics in the rest of the song explain it quite clearly.

As someone who agrees with the sentiment, I have to say it was worded quite poorly. "You didn't build that" could just as easily have become "You didn't build that alone". We're all invested in the system - don't make people feel dependent on government, make them feel like a part of it. He should have directly quoted Elizabeth Warren or said nothing about it at all.

I wonder if execs at fox ever read some of this and recoil in horror at what they've created? I honestly don't know how the fear mongering propagandists sleep at night.

Yeah a lot of my friends like to reduce it to really stupid shit. My history teacher in high school said "if 3 people corner you in an alleyway and democratically vote to take your watch, isn't it still theft? Taxes are the same thing."

Meanwhile one of my former classmates loved this example: "If I get a D on a paper would you be fine with the teacher taking your A and lowering it to a B- so we'd both get the same grade?!"

I checked my facebook, and most of the people have been quite tame in their responses! I'm shocked and also glad that they're not as publicly crazy as I thought they would be.
 
I'm surprised I haven't seen a lot of Facebook meltdowns, but I think I culled the loud FoxNews true believers years ago.

That's good, it's left me more time to schedule all my free abortions on my ObamaPhone.
 
God’s wrath is already here. Obama is our punishment. Washington state sealed it. America in the next four years is going to be destroyed. Many people who study Bible prophesy say the biggest question they are asked, is WHY IS AMERICA NOT MENTIONED IN BIBLE PROPHESY? The reason is right in your face. Sigh , i have someone on FB melting down. Hoping instead of Obama 4 more years, the mayans were right and the world burns in december.. Buying guns to defend during the riots that start soon and giving up her garden with hottub for a vegetable fruit garden so she can feed her family.

I did not know Obama brought upon the apocalypse
