The Giant Bomb Quick Look Thread 2

The russian guy in Rising sounds way too much like the intro narrator guy from Duty Calls. Kind of ruining this entire game for me right now.

Wasn't Ryan the one who played and enjoyed Bayonetta? Should he not be the one playing this?

Nah, for action games it doesn't really matter who it is.

I can't watch at work but from the comments it sounds like one of them said Bayonetta didn't have a dodge. *__*

Rising looks like it could end up sharing the "best action game ever" spot with Bayonetta, I like.

And I'm really impressed with Scriblenauts Unlimited. I never got Super Scriblenauts, but I really like where they went with this one. Not sure if I want PC for Steam community or Wii U for the Nintendo stuff tho.

this has no online who the hell would pay $60 for this? What are they smoking?

After people actually bought ridge racer with two courses on vita, perhaps they needed to up the stakes to see just how shit something had to be, before people don't buy it.

(I double dipped on ridge racer...)

Ehhh I had hopes for Scribblenauts when they said they were turning it into an actual game. After watching that QL, I now dont give a shit anymore. I'll just play the dollar iOS iPad game if I ever feel the need to see Scribblenauts. I wish they'd turn it into a Professor Layton-ish kind of game.

Brad is one of my favorite Quicklookers, but damn was it painful watching him play MGR and not figure out that he had to cut the highlighted square. Or that by cutting the square he could grab their energy...kidney and get life back.

Like dude, the square only comes up in cutting mode, why do you think that is?

yeah, i really sucked at the demo but i figured that out. and it was killing me seeing how he fought the dog/cat/chainsaw monster thing at the end. hell, even i could get it to call in reinforcements quicker than him and i suck at these types of games. but brad is one hell of a gamer, i'm part of team brad. once he gets used to it i'm sure he will do fine. i think he just takes a little longer than some to get the basics down. once he does, watch out. i would love to see another quick look after he spends some time with it.

I've complained about this kind of thing before, but this time I can't really blame him. I've seen several videos of people playing MGR for the first time and not playing right at all. There were a few on-screen prompts he could have noticed earlier, but overall, this game seems a little confusing if you're going in blind.

Scriblenauts still looks like one of the worst controlling games ever. Hated the DS game, this looks like it has many of the same issues.

When he started firing at the zombies it looked pretty bad. Select a zombie and select the fire option for each zombie? Yeah... and the MP menus looked confusing as well.

People should lay off Brad, I played the demo a couple of months back, and as far as I remember, there is no indication extracting the spines gives health. I didn't know it when I played. I knew it restored your blade time, but if you don't think you're low, there's no obvious reason to extract the spine.

And Scriblenauts still looks like garbage.

oh i understand. it took me a couple of playthroughs to figure out just what in the hell is going on. that's why i would love to see a follow up quick look once he figures it out. mgr's demo just throws you in with very little explanation. the game looks like it's going to be great though. i think it will end up being what i wanted vanquish to be. i still can't figure out why i didn't care for vanquish. it's a mystery.

Oh my god, watching Brad play games is so painful. I like the guy but damn it is frustrating...

There are times where I feel like this, too, but you guys have to remember that playing games for an audience is hard, even if it's just pre-recorded and you know it will go out eventually.

There's added pressure to not only play the game well, but talk about it, describe the mechanics, and show them off, while also being entertaining so people continue watching. To do it weekly is no easy task.

Basically, yes, Brad does not appear to be the best video game player in the world, but there's added factors that do not affect the person playing alone in their living room, too.

I'd be more inclined to agree if the argument was that GiantBomb was "bad at games". If you look you'll notice more comments tend to pick on Brad more in particular which then doesn't really follow through logically.

Yeah, Scribblenauts really has neat ideas, but the controls look downright terrible.

Also, it's running in 720p? I thought devs were boasting that it was running in 1080p?
