That's great for the Singaporean populace, but my point is that it's not great for the Singaporean media, which indicates a government that even you seem to be plainly dissatisfied with. Just because you can get around the Great Firewall doesn't mean that your government isn't authoritarian, you know?
Who denied that lol.you were talking about average Singaporen or people who want to move yo sg right? Seeing that we can safely ingnore our media, easily access content, safe and rich(mostly) and easily travel to others countries, why does it suck for us or anyone who understand and want to come? This is really geeting off topic, of you are I sg next time I will treat you to a roti prata( aka bread bread)
:-P
sorry hard to type on phone :-D

Holy Crap, this guy's completely losing his sanity:

what sanity?

93% of blacks voted for Obama
http://www.city-data.com/forum/elections/1728203-93-blacks-voted-obama.html

Because they are brainwashed.

Oh but this is not racism in the least. It's only racist when it's the reverse because of course the white men researched and selected the person they felt best for the job. Blacks? Everyone knows they just picked Obama because he is black because black people are incapable of making informed choices.

They voted for Obama and will vote for Michelle Obama when she runs for President in 2016 and then 2020. He will legalize all 30+ million illegals so they will all run to get on welfare and will vote for Democrats to keep their check coming.

The sad thing is it is destroying this great country and we will go over the fiscal cliff soon. We have more sucking off the sytem than we have people who work and actually pay taxes.

Welfare is just another form of slavery but some are so blind (and lazy) that they don't see it that way

The other main difference between the President and Gov. Romney was political ideology. Obama stands for those who want government to redistribute wealth and provide more goods and services to the electorate while Romney stood for those who want government to downsize. Romney basically campaigned as a JFK of 2012 -- "Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country." Obama has turned that around.
They want to keep their food stamps. Not kidding.
God I'm glad I don't live in California.
Democratic party lives of the ignorant and dependent and that's who voted them in. You think it comes to a shock that 99.9% of people on welfare support democrats? Gee I wonder why.
Does anyone else find that curious and strange. Is there something in the makeup of their brain that makes all black people think alike?? Do certain races of people go in a pack and other races think for themselves? I know I am going to be slammed for saying this, but I have wondered about it since I had someone point this out to me. Hispanics are more divided in their thinking than this. It is hard to get even 50% of most white groups to think alike on most issues. I find it very strange.
93% of blacks did not vote for Obama because they are Democrats. 93% of blacks don't even understand the issues. All they know is the Republicans represent the white establishment and Obama is black. And that makes him trustworthy.

When will the liberal meltdown happen?

It isn't like Obama is going to do what he said he is going to do.

there was generally a lot of bitching about obama regarding all his compromises with congress when he didn't have to, weakening a lot of his plans in favor of bipartisanship that never came.

this particular event was so different because people on the right were convinced, convinced the democrats would lose, and hard. instead, it was a pretty sound victory everywhere.

democrats had another meltdown point in 2004 when kerry couldn't defeat bush. i understand where the republicans are coming from: how can this guy so obviously, and totally inept be elected president? i thought no one liked him? maybe the big difference between the two is that the democrats really hadn't had a chance since 1996, when the republicans had recently won big in 2010, and felt like momentum was on their side.

Is it that important I answer the question? We all know how it ends.

Of course not, and the original question wasn't demanding a response if you didn't want to give one. Some might consider it important that you reply to it civilly rather than inaccurately accusing people of calling you a racist, though.

Yeah the Republican Party needs to reach out to minorities more. Freedom doesn't know racial boundaries!

If they reach out to minorities they risk losing out on their current base, which generally disagrees with any such advancements. Republicans just can't win, America is changing, and the old white man vote doesn't have the impact it use to.

So is there any reason so many Twitterites are threatening to move to Australia? I mean do they see it as the Last Great Bastion of Republican Ideals or something?

They have a right-wing government, so they presume that they'll fit in just lovely.

The problem is, people voted in a right-wing government because they were fed up of what they perceived as foreigners coming over to Australia and exploiting their free healthcare, their welfare system, taking their jurbs, etc. Australia isn't going to just let them in.

Why not try the Australian Immigration and Citizenship Dept visa wizard to see if you're eligible to stay in the country permanently. Here's a spoiler for you:
You probably aren't
.

I have a friend who's been trying to move to Australia to live with her boyfriend. She's been trying for five years, living on temp visas, flying back and forth whilst she's between visas on flights costing $3000 a time. She's wealthy, she's healthy, she's a lawyer, has no criminal record, a clean drivers licence and she still can't get in. She's been jumping through hoops for years and she has to keep jumping through them.

None of these windbags are moving anywhere because a) They are as full of empty promise and rhetoric as the administration they tried to vote in and b) Even if they tried, Australia would just send them straight back home again.

Uh... you know our Liberals aren't the Left, yeah? And Labor are in power in a compromise with the Greens and the Independents?

It's so easy, though. All they have to do is lead by example - treat the black man as if he's an American, let alone a human, and do it publicly. If there are segments of the base don't accept it immediately, fuck 'em. What other choice do those people have anyway? Obama is practically a moderate Republican circa 1990, so they're not actually going to be making deals with the 'devil' himself or whatever. All they have to do is drop the charade - which is obviously NOT working on anyone but the most blindly racist and/or uneducated nutjobs left in their base anyway. They need to quit it with this pathetic victim narrative they've been trapping themselves in, actually respect the Office of the President for once this decade, and do what they've been elected to do - help fix the country. Ditching Karl Rove and his ilk would be a great start down that path, btw.

EDIT: Here's how I'd put it if I could write like David Simon:

"...
America is different now, more so with every election cycle. Ronald Reagan won his mandate in an America in which 89 percent of the voters were white. That number is down to 72 percent and falling. Fifty thousand new Latino citizens achieve the voting age every month. America will soon belong to the men and women — white and black and Latino and Asian, Christian and Jew and Muslim and atheist, gay and straight — who can walk into a room and accept with real comfort the sensation that they are in a world of certain difference, that there are no real majorities, only pluralities and coalitions. The America in which it was otherwise is dying, thank god, and those who relied on entitlement and division to command power will either be obliged to accept the changes, or retreat to the gated communities from which they wish to wax nostalgic and brood on political irrelevance.

You want to lead in America? Find a way to be entirely utilitarian — to address the most problems on behalf of the most possible citizens. That works. That matters. Last night, it mattered just enough to overcome the calcified political calculations of men who think that 47 percent will vote against them because they are victims, or that 53 percent are with them because the rest of us vote only from self-interest and without regard for the republic as a whole. It was a closer contest than common sense and the spirit of a truly great nation should dictate. But unless these white guys who have peddled “normal” for so long — normal as in racial majority, normal as in religious majority, normal as in sexual orientation — unless they have a hard moment of self-reflection and self-awareness, well, it will not be this close again.

This is kind of the opposite impression to the one I've gotten from people getting visas/ permanent residency in Aus. I've heard its very easy, especially compared to the US. If you study here you're pretty much guaranteed it once you start working.

Damn, I think this thread could be renamed 'Black people - come get your harsh reality check here'.

Shit, I'm white and the sentiments on display in this thread are shocking the shit out of me. WTF at all the undisguised racism people put out there. I must lead a pretty sheltered life.

Nope aus step up its immigrant policy , now its really hard to become a PR there. At least from a Singaporean point of view. And its a good move IMO, She hit the number of talent needed now she can cater to her own Aus born citizen. They can now be really choosy for their PR. Wish Singapore can do the same, i do not want the extreme religious People with little talent to come here and become pr.:(

Not anymore. That loophole has long been closed.

Yeah, I'm from in Texas but only been living in the valley, San Antonio, and Houston which are all heavily Hispanic to very diverse. So yeah I've bumped into a few bigoted folks, but not to the level I see here. It's fucking scary.

Hahahaha, you think we don't know? This is not new news to us, we been trying to tell others. Folks saying oh there isn't that much racism, people are no more mean to Obama then they were to Bush. Bullshit.

lol what the fuck

more like "breaking news: people shocked that black people weren't just spouting bullshit about racism all this time. more at 12."

Exactly. It's more like "Racism Exists |OT| We've been telling you this, post-racial my ass".

It exists and it will always exist
However I'd think that one would be encouraged by te fact that the extremists are clearly in the minority

You will never get rid of it completely because fear of outsiders is quite likely genetic and not just a social construct

There is a very good theory that shunning outsiders leads to greater altruistic behavior within the group.

Google for Mark Pagel

In America it actually kinda is.

What is so special about America?

There is an article in Nature a few years back
Will post a link if I can get it later

For now will just say that animal behavior always has its reasons thus thus racist behavior has much deeper reasons than "they are just evil" I would argue that just like say mental illness there probably is a combination of genes that makes one more likely to fear outsiders

Racial relations in America go far beyond people just fearing outsiders and foreigners.

You missed, it was in 2004. We had a president who had lied to take us to war and the country didn't care. It was infuriating. The difference here is that our salt was at least genuine we were living the situation. All these salty tears now is made up boogey man shit like, socialism(lol they'd have a heart attack if he was really a socialist), no religion anymore or muslim religion etc.

lol....... sorry. Btw what kind of degree offers a path to a journalist and lawyer career ? I thought lawyer and journalist are like totally different degrees?

Yeah... I'm doing two of them

Any of ya'll see the overseas papers? India has some baller shit.

Why do right wingers always use that JFK line?

what about

"If a free society cannot help the many who are poor, it cannot save the few who are rich."

Do they not understand the intentions of the speech, the intentions of a President in 1961!
