I found Uncanny Avengers #1 rather stiff overall, especially the opening exchange between Cap/Thor/Havok that was in the previews earlier and then the
wanda and rogue chat over xavier's burial
.

I like Remender overall though and will keep reading, but that first issue fell flat, as did the artwork.

UA #1 was kinda boring to me so I'll probably wait until 2 & 3 come out before I decide.

I like Remender but yeah, wasn't feeling Uncanny Avengers.

Agreed that Uncanny Avengers fell flat. I'm also not a big fan of the roster...hopefully they add to it or change it up.

Uncanny Avengers is kinda the first book Remender's been on where a lotta shit NEEDS to happen so I wasn't really expecting UA#1 to come out blasting with a lot of heavy duty shit like UXF. First arc (if we ever see it, lol) is gonna determine how awesome it's gonna be moving forward. Think it probably woulda been more potent if we didn't already know about the Red Skull reveal. That final page was killer.

Why can we all just admit that some artists are not monthly book artists, and just give them minis? Shits embarrassing.

Capullo clowns them all.

Yeah man, this. I didn't know about it beforehand so right when I got to that page I was on-board with the series.

It's true. You know what I don't get though is how some amazing artists DO put out books monthly or damn close enough yet they never get regular work on a single big ticket book. I know Marvel double ships all their big sellers and not even Capullo could keep up with that nonsense, but even the stuff they do only monthly still sees revolving artists.

Are many people here reading Uncanny Avengers? This sucks because I'm actually interested in what's going to happen next :/, Remender is a cool dude.

i love remender but i'm not sold on UA yet. i have a feeling it'll go the way of watxm, a good book but kinda bad when crossovers happen.

i'm much more pumped for opena/hickman.

Assuming this is a 6 issue arc, I wonder when we'll get the finale of UA? March for issue 4 probably, maybe June for issue 5... smh. It's a good thing this isn't the important fallout to their summer event... oh wait.

How many Marvel NOW! books are bi-monthly? I see another Deadpool issue is coming out the 21st....would rather that series not be twice a month :/

Again, I see Deadpool as dumb yet awesome fun right now.

For me, I'm getting annoyed that Hawkeye is so inconsistent with it's shipping right now and it's only on it's 4th issue... Meanwhile Gambit, which was released at the same time is getting a consistent release date.

Yeah, I'm not shitting on the book (<3 Posehn). I really liked the first issue and am going to continue buying but bi-monthly just kinda sucks. There are almost no books that are good enough to justify the extra money.

Hawkeye 4 is on the 21st right? Hopefully it gets more consistent since it's getting really popular. There are 3rd printings of #1 and #2 coming on the 21st as well.

Agreed with the bi-monthly thing - but I'm in love with the concept of Wade beating the crap outta dead presidents and I believe so for Hawkguy. Am glad that it's getting popular but man, the wait is painful.

Eh, Marvel's gotten better at writing far enough in advance that the art teams stay good (or at least consistent if you don't like their style) for their arcs at least on biweekly books. See: Secret Avengers, Uncanny X-Force. (I think bimonthly means they come out once every two months)

Cyclops is single

Storm is single

You guys know where this is heading, two former X-men leaders recently broke up, start talking to each other, and one thing leads to another...

Yeah, hit them showers

It can mean both.

Bimonthly can mean both "twice a month" and "once every two months" It's better to say releases twice a month. Also, I don't really mind the delays with Uncanny Avengers. With the amount of books I'm buying a delay is welcomed. And both of Hickman's Avenger books will be released twice a month I believe.

I like to think back during Claremont's run everyone was just having sex with each other like it was no biggie. I bet the Outback X-Men had orgies all the time (Rogue watched).

Haha oh man, this idiot is on a comic podcast I listen to, a self professed Marvel hater, and every day/week/month he makes himself look like more and more a DCtard. This week's post is his intentions to buy a half dozen of the JLA variants while talking about how it's the "right" way to do variants. At the risk of giving this guy more hits on his awful blog I want comic GAF to share in my amusement on how ridiculous he is. I don't advise actually reading any of his past posts though unless you want to see some of the most mental Marvel hatred the internet has to offer.

Lol @ "right" way. Just photoshop 50 different state flags and profit. Variants in general are pointless.

I might just stick with the "Regualr" one

Ugh terrible. In my eyes, there is no right way to do variants. Collector bait of the lowest order.

Well, now hang on. (™ Leslie Knope)

I think ones that involve actual art or some kind of theme are great. Skottie Young's NOW! variants, Mignola's Year of Monsters, those Artist Style Marvel ones. Those are all rad. I mean, I don't go out of my way to buy them, but there's a large gap between that sort of stuff and dipping a flag logo in on Photoshop.

There is a large gap, but they're all just collector tripe. Put out the best cover and put the other amazing artists on something else.

idk guys, I like this variant for #98

For TTOB

Hey I've liked the looks of variants too. I just find the entire pratice a waste of good artists. Plenty of fan stuff for free all over the net if you want options. Tons can put up great single images. But the best comic artists can do something, most cannot. Tell stories on the page.

Get the creators on some storytelling jobs.

Variants are, unfortunately, a large part of the economy of comic books. It pushes stores to over-order on select issues to meet the minimum on rare variants that they can sell for $50 a pop. It's also the only way you're going to see artists who've moved on from doing steady interiors.

Hell, Dave Johnson would be fucked if publishers decided to stop doing variants.

Well, at least Hawkeye doesn't really have many variants since Aja's art is best.

Yeah, Aja's one of those dudes where you don't pass up the opportunity to put his art out front. Do you guys remember his Red Skull Incarnate covers?

*whistle* Yes, sir.

Also, didn't all versions of the new MLP: FiM comic (regular and variants) have the highest pre-order or something?

It really is a driving thing in the economy of comics.

What a terrible state comics are in. :(

Ah well, focus on something good.

Legion #17 has the return of the Levitz/Giffen team from the Great Darkness Saga!

Long Live the Legion! <3

Yeah, the variants for the 2nd printing are just the same covers with a couple thing taken out. Like for #1 all the purple circles are gone and it's just the main image.

What a weird thing to take out. There's barely any color on the covers to begin with, just the purple but it's really what makes the covers 'pop'.

Edit: WTF is Mags' costume? God that looks so stupid. And Cyke... they're really beating the Cyke = New Mags over everyone's heads at this point... blah.
