Ultimate Miles sucks. It's been 17 issues and the kid is still a total noob with no defining characteristics. The book is coasting on the Spidey name, and the support cast is very unlikable. I miss Peter Parker back when his supporting cast was Kitty, Iceman, Human Torch, Gwen Stacy and MJ. So good.
I, for one, think it's great but the main problem is that they haven't developed him enough.
Out of 17 issues, how many of those were SHIELD or Peter Parker-related? At least a half if not more.
If you consider that he only had about 8 issues "to himself", it's not surprising he and the supporting characters aren't well developed.

I think it could be as good if not better than the old USM if they just start focusing on Miles and not constantly bringing back old characters and doing cross-overs.
Kind of reminds me of what happened with Apollo Justice.

I agree with all of this. If you were to read the first seven issues of both Ultimate Spider-Man series, Peter got a whole lot more development, while Miles wonders what being Spider-Man is about. Bendis should have focused on Miles shaping up his own character, instead we have a bunch of characters telling him he's in over his head. Also Miles is missing out on that high school drama that Bendis did so well on Parker's story.

Dudes, you guys, is this New 52 Shazam/Billy Batson getting spun out into its own book? If so who is the creative team on it? Cause man it has been my favorite part of the Justice League books and I just read JL#0 and I totally love it.

I haven't been keeping up with DC stuff aside from everybody nutting over Vibe. What's the Trinity War stuff all about? Who is the trinity? You can just provide a link, I really suck and digging up comic news.

no i beleive he is joning the justice league.

the trinity is phantom stranger, pandora and i forgot the 3rd. i beleve the DC FCBD issue was about them

also the first 12 issues of ultimates and spdierman are pretty great. though i do agree miles needs a better suporting cast

The 3rd is The Question.

Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! Putting him on the Justice League is such a waste! All the potential in that character is in all the wacky hijinks he can get into. The Justice League would just be like surrounding him with 6 chaperones! Waahhh. :(

I think i'll end up trying to exchange my absolute final crisis edition...between the binding and this i am a sad comics panda:

Holy shit! Yea I'd definitely exchange that. Hope they don't give you shit about it.

So after wrestling with my inner penny pincher, I decided to buy all of Ultimate Spiderman up to current issue...total damage? $54.83

Feels bad yo.

I sent an email to dcbs about getting it exchanged, they've been good about this kind of stuff. I'm less amused about DC though Xo.

And Final Crisis was a fun book!

So much Ultimate hate out of nowhere. You guys aren't gonna bring me down. All three of those books have been pretty consistently great. Bendis writes a good, young Spidey, even if he's kind of going through motions with a new character. Takes time to develop a brand new character and Bendis is still doing good work just like he did with the early Peter Parker USM. Hickman introduced some good set up with Ultimates and though I didn't like Nick Spencer's slow paced start to Ultimate X-Men, Brian Wood picked up the torch and ran with it. After this big crossover is done with these books are going to have some rad groundwork to be a big crazy ass playground for these characters and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go.

I do agree Miles needs more supporting characters. His parents are bland. Ganke is cool but he definitely needs some chicks in his life. The Peter/Kitty stuff from early USM is gonna be impossible to live up to.

I recommend you read the first 6 volumes of ultimate spider man, the first 4 of ultimates by mark millar, and warren Ellis ultimate work to understand why we are frustrated

I have read those. Not the Ellis stuff but almost all of the original USM and UXM. I liked them. I also like what is going on now.

At this point it looks like Johns will do is series. Probably middle of the year at the earliest.

dude why didn't you just buy it in chunks?

Finished the Dark Angel Saga, I'm regretting not buying the series when it came out. This also gives me a lot of faith that Remender will deliver with Uncanny Avengers, delays may hurt it but with this level of planning and plotting it will be a must-buy from now on.

How's Agents of HATE for newcomers? Can you jump into it without any previous essential knowledge about some major event on the Marvel Universe?

It's almost better if you DON'T know anything. Back when Immonen was allowed to do quirky little series instead of only summer events and marketing gimmicks.

Try instocktrades.com? They have a 45% off sale atm for marvel and dc books, free shipping if $50 is spent.

Speaking of aramex, I got my TPBs from Amazon but had to pay $50 charges XP

I only knew the characters' names and that it had its own theme song for some reason going into it. Came out totally in love.

It's better if you didn't know Tabitha Smith during the early 90s. I give her props for being the first superhero with dental headgear. A healthy smile is important.

Livin' in the Eighties, Eighties, Eighties~

OK InStockTrades has some neat stuff and has 2 mangas I want to get and they sell them cheaper than amazon, will send them an e-mail to see if they accept Amarex addresses.

^I don't know if I even LURKED this thread back in July =V

Also Tiny Titans Omnibus, DC pls.

EDIT: Is there a Saga TPB with a different cover than #1's cover?

Andrea Sorentino's Green Arrow art that was recently previewed lookin sogood.gif with color.

Hey bro, they don't like it when we talk about DC around here.

But yeah its making me reconsider my history of avoiding Green Arrow
As long as I have more posts than anybody else this is my thread and I'll do what I please!

Hopefully people will be able to jump right in when Jeff Lemire's run starts.
A. He said it would be a starting point on twitter
2. Given how bad I hear the book has been I don't think it would be fair for them to ask us to have read it.
d. It's comics, does anything really important ever happen anyways??

All I want him to do now is redo it for Hawkeye.

I'm such a Marvel-Stan.
I'm gonna be thinking about this the entire time I'm reading it. I've never read a Green Arrow comic before. I'm not opposed to the idea or anything, it's just one of those things where I feel like I don't need another archer in my life. Whenever there's a clear parallel between a DC and a Marvel character I'll go for the Marvel character 99% of the time. No h8 intended, that's just how I was brought up. The team on this elevates it to must-read status though. I can't ignore Lemire and Sorrentino on a book even though I really want to. :(

Green arrow cover reminds me of a promo for a wb melodrama, not an artistic take on a comic series. I haven't seen an episode of Arrow yet.

I'd laugh if I wasn't so mad.

How about we discuss it?

What do you like about Saga?

I didn't find any of the characters particularly interesting. For a sci-fi comic with big ideas, none of the worlds (what little we've seen) were very interesting to me.

Art doesn't float my boat either. Staples is talented, but her brand of illustration isn't what I look for in a comic.

I read through six issues before cutting ties.

So elaborate on what you enjoy about it and why I'm a madman for finding it such a bore.
