It is great art. Glad they'll be in a book I can get. I have zero interest in vampires so I can't bring myself to get I, Vampire.
I'm sure this exact sentiment is the reason IV is destined to be shitcanned and it makes me sad.

How about we discuss it?

What do you like about Saga?

I didn't find any of the characters particularly interesting. For a sci-fi comic with big ideas, none of the worlds (what little we've seen) were very interesting to me.

Art doesn't float my boat either. Staples is talented, but her brand of illustration isn't what I look for in a comic.

I read through six issues before cutting ties.

So elaborate on what you enjoy about it and why I'm a madman for finding it such a bore.

Ha ha ha HOLD UP, did you just elucidate your own opinion and then ask someone else to do the same thing?!?

Holy shit I just know Betsy Braddock has Mojo's eye camera implant and is staring RIGHT AT ME

lolllllllllll

You know what fucking rules? HOLIDAY-THEMED COMICS. And that's why DC is making a 64 pages Valentine's Day anthology with ALL YOUR FAVOURITES! It's got Wonder Woman and Supes. It's got Aquaman and Mera. It's got Apollo and Midnighter. It's got Batgirl, Catwoman and Batwoman and Nightwing and uh, okay, that's a weird combo but it can work. Sure. ANYWAYS. HOLIDAY-THEMED COMICS. THEY FUCKING RULE.

That was a fun scroll down, thinking of that amazing Quitely Holiday Special cover and then landing on...

THAT.

What's this I'm reading about Appollo x Midnighter x Dick Grayson. Sounds good. Hope for Vibe x Bunker, Barbara x Static and Jaime x Skitter.

Speaking of having zero interest in books, did you find any satisfaction with Saga?

Yeah, it's pretty good. But I had already read the first issue elsewhere so I had a good idea of what I was getting into. It's definitely weird and I could understand why people wouldn't enjoy it. But I'm putting it on my pull list for the time being.

I understand your pain. I really do. As I said, I just have zero interest in vampires. They don't do anything for me. I'm mostly in comics for the Superheroes, with a bit of dabbling outside of the box. Not sure what else to say; But it's managed to survive several rounds of cuts when it should have logically been cut so I imagine it's getting LOSH level protection from someone.

Andrea Sorentino's Green Arrow art that was recently previewed lookin sogood.gif with color.

Kojtah.jpg

Wow. I have never read a Green Arrow series, but I might now for this art.

Unless my eyes deceive me, it looks like Sword of Sorcery #1 ( #0 being the actual first issue that saw a sales boost for it) didn't break the top 100 in October.

It was fairly good but i think we knew its fate...we'll see how long DC is cool with all these low selling titles. I'm glad DC is still taking chances on books though and i'll keep buying the ones that interest me the most like i do with Dial H.

Flash #13: Probably my last issue of Flash for awhile as my thinning of the herd mentality continues. It was a decent issue but i don't find the rogues/flash altercations that interesting, or anything currently going on in Flash that big of a draw outside of Manapul's artwork.

Why not read comics based on ones with great writing and art rather than choosing based on subject?

This Barnes & Noble sale is doing some nice damage to my wallet.

American Vampire: Volume 4
DMZ: Volumes 2-12
JLA: Volume 2
Justice League Dark: Volume 1
Penguin: Pain and Prejudice
Scalped: Volumes 2-10
Spaceman
Swamp Thing: Volume 1 (New52)
Sweet Tooth: Volume 5

Might be adding Jack Kirby's Fourth World Volumes 2 & 3, maybe the last volumes of Knightsend and No Man's Land too... geez.

Jeff Lemire has my attention. The art is a great bonus.

Disappointing because it is a fucking awesome book.

well this batgirl preview. This story is so creepy. I love it.

make me a sandwich...with a glass of milk to wash it down.

Finally stopped playing Halo to go grab last week's books. For some reason my shop didn't have Manhattan Projects even though it's on my pull list... :(.

Sweet Tooth - Damn... even though what happened wasn't a twist by any stretch it was still a huge kick to the gut. Fantastic issue and now I really can't wait to see how it wraps up in 40. Hoping he leaves some room for more books down the road but if it's really the end I'll still be extremely happy with the series.

Deadpool - Never paid much attention to Deadpool but Marvel Now hype got me once again. I enjoyed this issue and will be back for at least a few more assuming the quality stays up.

Iron Man - Didn't care for the story and definitely not the art. I'll give it another couple issues to shape up. If it doesn't get any better then I'll just get my Stark fix from the team books.

Detective Comcis - Layman successfully sells me another Batman character I never had much interest in.

That was pretty funny, the whole Death of the Family thing is looking like it's going to be creepy and dark as hell.

JL Dark pre-Lemire is not something I can really recommend.

So DC wasn't kidding about Third Army ending "setting up the next event", since immediately after Third Army brings us WRAITH OF THE FIRST LANTERN across every GL book.

O__________O

Now that is some good art. Too bad archery is for lames.

Lol no. Hawkeye and Hawkeye proved that to be a false claim.

Anyways, for this version of Ollie... I really do miss the mustache and goatee... At least give him some stubble and a crewcut if they're going for the CW look.

Christ, the single GL book might be decent if it wasn't crossover after crossover.

I've paired back to just the main GL title, but i'm on the verge of just quitting altogether. It's not fun to read a part of a larger structured story even if it's not directly taking off after the last issue of another book, and the other Lantern books aren't enjoyable enough for me to partake in the event shenanigans.

People don't like Greg Land because he traces porn stars? But the final result is good, imo.

It's not that he traces porn stars, it's that he uses the same half dozen (that might be too generous) facial expressions on ALL his characters. He is incapable of portraying any type of emotion other than a sly grin or an exaggerated scowl. When he does we get shit like this:

65v6A.jpg

In Iron Man 1 there's a panel of the blond chick smiling with her hand up to her face and he has used that panel SO MANY times. Any scenes between his books involving humans are virtually indistinguishable. It's so gross that he gets paid to trace the same shit over and over and OVER again for a $4 comic book.

I can see that, but the action is pretty good. Gotta give him that, at least.

No you really don't. His action is EXTREMELY static. The ONLY benefit to him doing Iron Man now instead of X-Men is that he's primarily going to be drawing a fucking robot, which is already lifeless since he's incapable of bringing any life to actual characters. His art is the epitome of soulless. You might as well be looking action figures photographed in stop motion.

Greg Land is not a good artist. Primarily because you can never tell what he drew and what he fucking traced. Liefeld>land.

You're objectively wrong. Reputable scientists have made studies and graphs that show in detail that you're completely, totally and absolutely wrong. This statement is the furthest thing from a fact there can be. This is a fact. You are wrong. You should stop being wrong.

I guess y'all convinced me. *grabs a pitchfork*

Justice League #13: I feel misled when Johns and DC were hyping Supes/Wonder Woman's relationship having HUGE IMPACTS AROUND THE EVERYWHERE. Decent issue that feels random in a sense of " hey, this is wonder woman's thing and let's roll with it." Some decent exchanges between Flash and Cyborg, apart from that there's not much to talk about.

I have to say though, that iconic Land Phoenix image is great. Was it a one-time fluke? Most definitely.

250px-X-Men_Phoenix_-_Endsong.jpg

This is the one time Land gets a pass because damn does Jean look good right there...

I can deal with Land. His faces and poses can be terrible but I can tolerate it. Ramos on the other hand.

...I will take Ramos any day over Land. Ramos' characters basically look like manga characters in a comic, which is a style that may not be suited for everything but when it works, it's amazingly good (Impulse was soooo good when it was drawn by him).

Land... Dude if I wanted porn stars in my comics - I'll go and watch porn.
