PS+ for PS Vita comes next week with FW 2.00, games revealed (WOW)

If you sing up for PS+ and download each Vita game one at a time, but can't keep them all on your card at once, can you deleted and re-download like normal PS store purchases?

Great deal and completely necessary before the holiday season.

Yes. You don't even have to download them, once you complete a "purchase," they are added to your download list forever and you can redownload whenever you want (provided you're subscribed).

PS+ is easily the best deal out there (outside of Steam Holiday Sales that is...). Everytime someone says it's not worth it I want to punch myself in the face.

This will of course convince many hardcore Vitabros to not buy anymore first party games for fear it will become free on PS+.

Don't worry you can download this stuff from a PS3, that's what I did with Gravity Rush when a friend of mine gave me a code. I didn't have a Vita yet but I downloaded it anyway and when I got my handheld I transfered it through the PS3 app.

I am wondering whether that will affect Persona4 sales, which releases on the same day.

Yeah, free games really suck.

Considering the Vita user base is ~3 million people and they want to sell the console to new people, I can't believe you're trying to poke holes in this.

Nope. I've been playing PS+ minis for months now on my Vita when I'm away from a connection.

Then what happens when my PS+ expire? If I don't connect online the games will always be there playable?

As has been said around here before, i imagine they do make money on PS+ somewhere. Membership fees, increased advertising for non-plus members, increased sales from discounted games.

I doubt it's highly profitable, but i would be surprised if they made a loss on it

You cant play them if it expires. You can access them again once you resub PS+ though.

Oh my god. These are amazing titles. Good thing I haven't bought a single one.

I'm going to need to buy a bigger memory card...!!

Even if it made a loss, they would probably make it back with the increased sales of their proprietary memory cards.

I have PS+, so can i add these Vita games to my DL list from the PS store? Or do I need a Vita to do it?

I'd like to have them all for when i do get a Vita, in case some expire before I buy one.

Yes. You just need to "buy" them for free, while they are on the PS+ catalog and can access them as long as you have the PS+ sub.

How the hell do they profit from this? I don't get this

Guess they went balls out because these games would have died out anyway at this point. They really need to advertise plus, like on tv. Brand it like xbl

I really couldn't tell you how it works, or if its even successful, but I have several theories.

Part of it is the Steam logic, where even if you give a game away for free for a brief window (like the PSN hack games), it only serves to increase awareness of the game and its series, which in turn leads to more sales in the long run, as well as more interest in a sequel.

Part of it is giving people a library that depends on their subscription, which I guess is psychology. I've let my subscription lapse a couple times (I was a day-one adopter) and I was left with a ton of games on my hard drive, many of which I wouldn't mind going back to but couldn't because I wasn't subscribed any longer. I'm sure many people resubscribe on a rainy day when they feel like playing one of those games on their console.

The other aspect of that is the more games you own through Plus, the bigger the perceived value. Resubscribing to Plus for me is MUCH better deal than someone just subscribing for the first time.

Probably the biggest part of it is getting people attached to the PSN Store and their digital libraries. Instead of waiting for them to wander in and browse, they HAVE to go into the store to grab their latest "free" stuff, and that not only introduces them to the entire store, but it gets them in a better position to spend more money ("Oh, I didn't know that was out yet"), just like the discounts end up convincing you to buy a game you maybe weren't 100% sold on.

It's either totally brilliant, or an insane pyramid scheme built on people with subscriptions not downloading anything, which might even be just as likely.

Will people know about it? Or will it get crowded out by a Wii U + Halo + COD + Assassin's Creed + Other platforms frenzy?

Sony's marketing team isn't that great.

Replying to your previous posts as well

1 - Plus is profitable according to Sony. [Patcher has been wrong a lot of times]
2 - First month must always be impressive
3 - Sony has fired the previous marketing team and their marketing isnt exactly bad but its whether they leave it to do or market stuff. Uncharted 3 marketing last year aws great

I'm beginning to think with how little free time I have now, I could game exclusively with just my Plus subscription. Sure I would miss out on brand new releases and not everything I want to play will be free, but I have so many games now and I haven't even played half of them; and I still continue to buy new games.

As a PS+ subscriber and Vita owner, this news pleases me. Although there's only JSR that I don't own in that list, it's still a blinder for other people.

thats ok, you aren't getting JSR :P

definitely looks like a 'persuade PS3 owners to buy vitas' offer with some big Sony titles up straight away.

If everything works as before, yes, it should be possible.

Ok.. time to renew.. mine was up on the 23rd but this will feed my Vita!

Also I must purchase a new memory card now.

I've bought a bunch of PSN games because of the day one PS+ discounts. I may want to play them someday, so my logic is to get them while they're hot and on sale.
I imagine the discounts helps increase the sale numbers, therefore the profits increase too.

From reading features on the browser beta, it doesn't sound there's video playback yet :
Aww, that sucks. Hopefully they'll let youtube links open the Youtube app in another firmware update soon. For however much Sony liked to say how connected the Vita would be before launch, none of it seems to have come to fruition. It doesn't help tht a lot of the social apps seem to be half baked at best. They really need to get some of that stuff updated. I can't believe the PS3 lets cell phones and tablets control the youtube app, and not the Vita -_-
