Ahahahaha I just looked at every spoiler tag in this thread. What da fuuuuuuuuuuuuuug!

Now I don't know if I should delve deeper or quit while I'm ahead. Arrrrgh my mind is full of fuck.

And I don't like a lot of what I see! Poor me! ;_;

By the way, the music you can hear on this clip is a re-arrangement of 'Light Of Babel' from Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water soundtrack. Same thing that happened with Evangelion: 2.0 and His and Her Circumstances tracks.

What's the track that gets rearranged in 2.0?

Just watched the 6 minute preview (I understood nothing,
"Baka Shinji" seems pretty straightforward, though :p
) and...

That scene takes place after the 14 year time skip. Shinji and Rei are still sealed inside Unit-01 and kept in outerspace. Asuka and Mari were trying to rescue them.

The 6 minute clip

The clip is up on youtube.
Oh shit it's worse than I thought. :(
As much as I agree with your sentiment here, Duckroll is right: you guys better get with the times and at least learn to accept it. It's not going to go away.

They really could have done without the overblown gamut circus in the introductory scene though (weak direction aside).
I'm not against the use of CGI instead of hand-drawn animation; I'm against the use of CGI when the rest of a cartoon is already hand-drawn because both aspects rarely mesh well with each other. The 2D and the 3D not only look different, but they also tend to have different "weight" (I'm sure there are better terms for this, I'm not an animation freak like 7th), like watching a superimposed word art signpost on top of a comic strip drawn in flat perspective. This is actually why I wasn't too bothered with the CGI in the previous two movies: it made sense for the Angels to be surreal outer-worldly entities. It accentuated their monstrosity.

All I'm asking for here is some fucking consistency.

EDIT: Oh, and yeah, the storyboarding in this sequence is a mess.

After watching the intro sequence about three or four times I finally get the jist of what's going on. I thought was pretty awesome though and I'm way too hyped for this movie now.

Also, I like how
Mari's all "yeah fuck this shit I'm out"
. lol

Ok, I guess now we pretty much know most of the scenario if what's been written here and there is correct.

And sadly, it SEEMS there's not much left from the old trailers. I still hope we get to see eva-06, it's been hyped to death in the two previous movies.

Oh, and I want shitloads of new toys please.

Does it seriously say 14 year timeskip in that six minutes? Holy fucking bejebus what

Not sure if it's said in the six minutes, but one of the mystery girls from the trailer is confirmed to be Toji's sister all grown up, plus Asuka and Unit 02 are up and running again, and her and Mari know each other. The images from the program all confirm the time skip.

The spoilers also mention the "curse of eva' that makes the bodies of eva pilots not age not sure if that is true though. If it is it sounds like a jab at the eva Otaku culture that anno detests

the story could be interesting either way, although personally I think it'd be awesome to see the crew in their actual mid/late 20s rather than being stuck in teenage bodies.

from my point of view it sounds like the "curse of eva" is referencing die hard eva fans obsessing over eva ever since it was released.

So......Asuka is killing an Angel while calling it "Stupid Shinji" and asking it to just die already? Well, that's relatively normal, I suppose.

I don't understand what you are trying to say

first, she wasn't killing the angel
second, she was calling "baka shinji" for help
third, shinji(eva-01) actually responded to that and helped her

Wat? I thought that was her killing the Angel and not Shinji. I didn't see Unit 01 at all.

When she's on the coffin, she is surprised to find the angel (the black disc thing) is on there. While she's struggling to hang on (while it's blasting her to heck), she cries out for baka Shinji to help her. The coffin cracks open, and SUPER EYE BEAMS blast apart the angel. As she stares at the crack, the eye (presumably the eye of Unit-01 with Shinji and Rei inside) stares back at her, and slowly closes as they fall to earth.

I see. The last memory of Unit 01 I had from Eva 2.0 was Unit 01 impaled with Lance so I was confused as to why it'd be inside the Angel. I thought when the box opened up that was the 2nd form of the Angel because indicator was blue, which indicates an Angel.

that angel looking thing was kind of security system for the coffin I guess. The core of it was having Eva-01 inside.

Where did it come from though? If this is the 1st 6 minutes, it's like they're skipping a huge amount of story to get to that point from the state of Unit 01 in Eva 2.0.

Also, they shouldn't have done the Angel in CGI. That cross-looking thing looks so awful. Like early CG awful. Can't they give it more texture or something? It looks so flat.

This is actual spoiler for the movie beyond that 6 minute clip, so be careful. If you dont want spoiled, don't read

I am pretty sure they explain the situation after the scene.

NERV(Seele) put EVA-01 in that coffin and was transporting it to the space. Asuka and Mari was to intrude and take away that coffin. Obviously Seele put some security system on that coffin I assume, and that is why I don't think what they were fighting was actually a pure angel ( I know it has blue type and AT field and so on. but there were many of them during that 6 minute scene, which I assume means Seele somehow created those)

It was made by the government. After Third Impact, the government seals away Unit-01 and held all the NERV staff. Then Misato and the other NERV staff form WILL-E to fight against NERV and try to destroy the Evas to prevent Gendo and Fuyutuski from causing Fourth Impact.

Actually, I think that Asuka calls it an Anti A.T. Field when she sees it, which is sorta important I guess, if it's human made (weren't they produced by the S2 engines?)

Yea that is also important point. But its not the thing that is Anti AT field, but the attack it did to Asuka was Anti AT field attack. It has that anti AT field ability that no Angels had before, so maybe it was made to fight against Evas

I was referring to its attack, heh. I know the thing itself was referred to as something different :)

"WILL-E"

Motherfucking Anno. Seriously?

keeping reading it WALL-E lol.

But in Japanese pronunciation, it sounds quite different.
I took it as
Wille, german for "will", going along with Seele (soul), Gehirn (brain), and Nerv (nerve) :)
