You guys can add me to the PSN list if you want, but I honestly can't tell you the last time I turned the damn thing on to play anything other than a Blu-Ray movie. In fact the only game I make time to play anymore is Guild Wars 2, and even then it's just a few hours every other night.

PSN: Scott_Spiegel

Add me on XBL: BuddyJoeMonster

I'm convinced, will be collecting Remender Captain America.

Any ideas on a stand-alone trade that would be good for an 11 year old?

I can't really think of any, Atomic Robo would be a possibility but it's not in print enough to make sure he could get the second volume on his own easily if he liked it. Maybe Calvin and Hobbes but i'm iffy. Can't think of anything else, everything i like is violent. Even Nextwave is a bit too violent/sassy. Tiny Titans seems a bit too young.

What about Gladstone School for Cool Things and Stuff?

What about Jeff Smith's Bone? I think that'd be a good option.

Also Stone was just fired as of this week, so he's out for now.

I just read the newest ASM. Great stuff. New theory? Superior Spider man is Tiberius Stone.

Why? Well, assuming Parker is incapacitated or depowered as of 700, the city will be in need of a spider man, and horizon labs (or at least some people working there) have a fairly good idea of how spider mans powers work- they did build the devices that jump started/overloaded Peter's spider sense.

Stone is recently fired, AND on kingpin's shit list after failing to incapacitate spider man and losing Osbournes stash. ASM 697 makes it clear that he has nowhere to go AND a need to protect himself from powerful villains, and perhaps a way to find his way back into Horizon's good graces.

Now, considering that- assume horizon tries to reproduce spider powers using stone as the Guinea pig. Since we know that stone and O'Hara have similar DNA, it would make sense that spider powers would manifest themselves similarly between the two. That would explain the context of the leak (referencing Miguel without it being him) as well as the near but not exact expression of spider powers.

It also explains editorial going out of their way to establish links to O'Hara and Tyler stone long after the book ceased publication (exiles notwithstanding).

Thoughts?

Could work. He's another one of those anti-Peter characters. The 2099 ties could also come into play. He hasn't gotten much characterization besides being a wormy double crosser and he's a fairly new character, but I could see it. What are those links btw, besides the name and science background? One of the only characters that could realistically be a "smarter" Spider-Man.

I recall an interview somewhere that stated that Tiberius and Tyler were related, but I can't remember where the hell it was, sorry. Everything else kind of cascades from that point.

It works ridiculously well, given what we know from interviews, leaks, and promo art, and eliminates the need for last minute time travel...which was the biggest problem with the Miguel theory.

You still need a way to get him the spider powers, it's not like Max is going to trust the guy after he robbed him and sold his shit to the Kingpin.

He starts up Horizon competitor to get back at them and delves into DNA stuff. Something like that would work better as a slow burn though and not in the span of 3 issues. Alternatively he's on the run, and stumbles upon the Goblin cache that had the wall crawling boots and other tech although that's also a stretch.

I definitely see Slott going this way with him, but like you said it's not a fast enough story line to happen by 700.

Yes, but you have that problem with anyone. Spider powers don't grow on trees, after all...someone is going to have to volunteer, or do something reckless to get them. And someone with the kingpin, the hand, and possibly the hobgoblin after them would certainly do whatever they had to to save their ass.

stone at this point has nothing to lose. No one else seems to have motive or opportunity to fuck with their genes at this point, especially not harry. 697 has him in Seattle, nonchalantly throwing out his phone and distancing himself from the drama. He's out of the running and unreachable for the next 3 issues at least.

They don't?

lol. cute. But that's the thing- a page or so ago i mentioned how Superior spider man was for one reason or another the only present day spiderman NOT using peter's powers as a template.

If we were using clones or symbiotes to make another spidey, superior spider man would be no different than scarlet spider, ben reilly, or even venom. Instead, its clear that whoever this is has copied the powers of spiderman 2099, a character no one sans peter (and a few characters in exiles) has ever met. There are no historical records, no DNA, nothing. Superior spidey having those powers makes no sense unless it IS him, or someone close.

But it's not a PERFECT copy of spidey 2099, since the web shooters are on the wrong side of the wrist, and we're missing 8/10 toe claws. Tiberius being SS is the best explanation for those quirks.

Although I still want to believe Spider-Man will be Peter, you have to consider that this (new) guy will be someone most of the Marvel U will trust. He has an increasing amount of guest appearances with characters that know regular Spidey's identity.

Well, I'm assuming it's not, since slott has been clear that Peter Parker is not spider man anymore. unless there's some crazy word-fu going on, I'm taking that statement at face value.

But really- very few people in the marvel U actually know peter's identity- and a large part of spiderman's back history had him playing the role of public menace and borderline criminal (thanks in part to JJJ, but not entirely). He was even banned from the avengers roster back in the 80s, even with Cap's endorsement. "trust" as part of the reason people work with spidey is a relatively new thing.

and this isn't the first time a "new" spider man has shown up- Scarlet spider went through this in the 90s. an issue or two of 'who are you?' 'what's with that outfit?' and people got over it.

The 2099 angle is valid, but I can still see this being mystical based or a blend between tech and magic.

Do you know the book's title/where it is being sold? Curious to see the finished product.

It's simply called Dinosaurs.

I believe it's supposed to be in Dollar General stores.

You're on the comp list, so I'll try to track some down and send you and the rest of the folks that made suggestions copies.

From what I've seen there was a lot of retouching.

Like Jack Kirby, they censored all my dinosaur cleavage! >:|

I was completely sold on it being Miguel when the character sketch came out. Anybody's guess is as good as the other. I'll give you props if you turn out to be right.

hey, I'm with both of you. Miguel was my first choice, if you scroll back a page or two.

However, someone "in the know" recently shot down miguel as a possible candidate, which sucks because I REALLY liked the character. I still have all of my original issues of spiderman 2099- and Doom 2099, Punisher 2099, and even Ravage (ugh) 2099.

If miguel is truly out, (and hey, it could still happen! I'd love for the mystical/time travel aspect to happen- and there ARE two miguels now) then tiberius seems the next best candidate.

Ah, so that's why you asked for dinosaurs. Would love to see the book as well. May go track down a copy myself.

And also added a whole slew of comics-Gaf onto my PSN friends list.

Ah, so that's why you asked for dinosaurs. Would love to see the book as well. May go track down a copy myself.

Here's the names of people I owe copies to once I find them:

Auron_Kale

tim1138

SpiderJerusalem

Affeinvasion

kswiston

Apparently they tried sending me a box, but uh - cash on delivery don't work so hot to a P.O. Box. :P

What about Jeff Smith's Bone? I think that'd be a good option.

That's a good option. If i get my cousin something it will be something from:

Bone
Gladstone Academy
Atomic Robo Real Science Adventures
Adventure Time
Mudman
Calvin and Hobbes

eh? what was the rationale for that

The clone saga, and the scarlet spider's very existence.. UGH!
I agree, it was one of the worst ideas when it happened. Maybe what they've done with it since is ok (I don't know) but it came on the heels of a saturation of clones in Sci-fi, right when the possibilities of human clones were heavily discussed in the 90's

So here's a quick rundown of my thoughts on some of this week's books:
All-New X-Men #1
Please Bendis, it's too early to un-jerk Cyclops.
...and I hate jerk-ass Cyclops =/

Demon Knights #14
This issue was more of a set-up than anything, but Savage continues to be hilarious. Needs more Al-Jabr in later issues.

Fantastic Four #1
Poor Ben, deleting stuff off the internet should be easy for Reed @,@
Not a bad issue, and Bagely's art was good in this, as for story...I don't expect him to top Hickman's run, but I do hope this story ends up being good, and I'd hate for Reed to be written as focusing more on the goal than the others.
Also, boo to no Spiderman in FF >=/

iNVINcible 97:
OK that first part of the story was...uh...well uh...honestly the panel of them sitting on the table pretty much sums up how I feel about it.
Let's see how this upcoming story arc's gonna be like...

Saga 7:
Book of the week, but did we really need to see the big fat naked inbred giant Vaughn? Stop catering to sick fetishes man.

Thor: God of Thunder #1
This looks interesting, dunno if it's canon or not, but let's see where this goes.

Batman #14:
Meh, wasn't mindblowing or anything.

That's a good option. If i get my cousin something it will be something from:

Bone
Gladstone Academy
Atomic Robo Real Science Adventures
Adventure Time
Mudman
Calvin and Hobbes

Other good titles:
Daredevil Vol. 1 by Mark Waid, it's a fun book to say the least
Mark Waid's Fantastic Four run
Tiny Titans
Megaman

How long does it take for inStockTrades.com to ship your order? 1 week, 2 weeks?

Was everything you ordered available at the time you placed the order?

Last time I ordered from them it took a week or two for the package to arrive after the item that wasn't printed yet (Simonson Thor Omnibus) was released.

Haven't order yet, but I plan on making the order by the end of November after I get my monthly payslip.
...and the item I want to order atm is Nextwave Hardcover:
http://www.instocktrades.com/TP/Marvel/NEXTWAVE-AGENTS-OF-HATE-ULTIMATE-COLLECTION-TP/DEC090617
...and it seems to be in stock.

He fought venom and woke up in bed with MJ in the one crossover.

Last time I ordered from instock trades it took longer than everyone else here, but for DCBSERVICE I got everything super quick.

They're all the same company. I'm assuming the hold-up on your order was IST restocking the item you ordered from the distributor.

Diamond isn't fast.

Lack of competition in the comic distribution market doesn't give them any incentive to be any speedier.

Man, Ed McGuinness is great. Damn the haters - I'm looking forward to YOLOva.

She's gonna die by the end of the first AA story arc, so you can kinda consider that an mini!

Nah, Laura won't kill her. She'll probably just fuck her up to the point she wishes she was dead. Marvel needs Hazmat man, who else is going to point out all of the asian stereotypes and wannabe asians!? D:

No, Hopeless is going to have Hazmat kill Laura as the "shocking!" death opener, to show they mean business with this series and establish that "anyone" can die at any moment. Then he or another writer will resurrect her later on down the road.

Who's he with in that picture? The art's pretty good so I might give this a try.

edit: Also, if I were to jump into digital comics for Marvel, should I go through Comixology or Marvel?

They showed the covers for AA #3 and #4. Laura lives.
The AA#1 preview showing the Hazmat/X-23 battle is a flash-forward. X-23 could die for that "shocking!" gimmick, and still appear in the story until it catches up to that moment.

Would the accounts recognize an Unlimited subscription, or is Unlimited not worth it? I've been debating on whether or not there's enough interesting back-catalog to justify a subscription...
