I'm not really into torture porn, but whatever...
We'll see.
Well it's not really torture porn. Mmm...

I think the Resort Boin series would be more up to your liking.
Let's shut our traps before ducky bans us
Is that... a good thing?

Like, I enjoyed the Rock n Roll night transformation scene in Penguindrum.. you know, the first and second time I saw it....
Fun fact: not once did I skip the stairs animation sequences in Utena! Then again, Utena had more things going on for it...

Maya~

I mean, uh, what are you talking about?

From The New World - 08

The visuals still aren't on the level of the first four episodes, which is a shame. This episode was a mixed bag visually, most of the time it looked pretty good, but at times it was really really bad. Other than that I enjoyed the episode, the show still manages to keep a feasible feeling of a strange future world, with the way the characters act and interact. It's good at giving the viewer a feeling of slight discomfort with the atmosphere in the classroom and every time the kids interact with their elders. The story continues to be intriguing and I really can't wait to see how it develops further.

To be fair, the stairs scene did show off Himari's young and nubile lower half... so it's unreasonable for anybody to skip that, even if it was the same animation every time.

For a moment there I thought you had misspelled Himemiya.

IKUHARAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Sweet, it's guilty pleasure SAOturday!

Anyways, I just watched Star Driver ep1 and was blown away. Like really. The animation, the energy, the designs, everything. What's the consensus on this show? Does it keep it up for the duration of 25 episodes, or is this just a flashy start that fizzles out?

Well, if you liked that episode, you're in luck.

Every subsequent episode is just like it.

Sword Art Online - 20

This whole episode was about DAT BATTLE. It was magnificent. The animation, the choreography, the effects, all were top-notch.
Don't really care about the rest of the episode, but it looked really good throughout.

Hopefully we see something with a similar budget in Magi.

Blasty of Tempest 1 - BONES IS BACK BABY!!

Enjoyed this a lot!

-nice animation
-solid direction
-really nice music

Not really sure what I think of the characters at the moment. Need to watch a few more episodes and wait for the developments!

I usually am on the IRC channel but I hardly say anything.

Though I'm always lurking... always watching you all...

Then you should know way more about us than anyone needs to!

Spoiler Talk
I sort of posed this yesterday in an obtuse manner, but I think it's related to the SSY stuff. If you were talking about K-On, is it a spoiler if you talk about or post a picture of Asuza? What about a picture of Sawako in the old version of the K-On club?

I'm just curious to see what people think are the limits of the "spoiler free" experience.

Hentai sucks unless you get off to badly drawn and animated porn. It's the cheap seats.

It barely even represents sex at all
even comparing it to regular porn its on a whole other level of "thats not how it is"
Actually it does share something in common with Japanese AV, in that they're screaming the whole time (and Japanese animators love to reference real life things)

The spoiler-concern is absolutely nothing but an assertion that their viewing experience trumps your social experience. That's why it's near-unique to nerd culture, it combines a disregard for the social experience with an assumption that one's relationship with a show is based primarily on the database it populates rather than its execution.

It survives because, when entering a social context populated primarily by people who believe this, those with the competing instinct to optimize the social experience at the cost of the viewing experience will comply and contribute to a harmonious discussion even though it means they can't easily discuss until after their memories have faded.

It is impossible to define good rules because everyone has their own pet database.
