PS+ for PS Vita comes next week with FW 2.00, games revealed (WOW)

Yes, you still have access so long as you took it through the checkout. If you DIDN'T take it through the checkout then no, no access for you.

All the time you have a sub, you have access to everything you put through the checkout. Amazed at how often this comes up.



And as I said in the Vita thread, the new Browser being open while you game will be a godsend to many RPG players who want a guide handy!

I knew you were meant to have access to everything when subbed, well I thought I did, but then Sony writes this in the blog:
As with the PS3 service, we will have titles that will be available to you for a longer period of time than usual so you have the chance to play them when and where you feel like, without worrying about them leaving the service anytime soon.

Which makes it sound like there is an eventual end. It might just be poorly written.

The having to actually checkout all content is a bit disappointing but oh well.

Think I'll get PS+ and start getting some of this stuff though, I want Infamous2 anyway.

He's referring to the couple of games that will be available to download for a longer period of time. Like LBP2, inFamous 2 etc. Those games have been available longer than the usual cycle.
 
I was a day 1 vitabro but sold it after 2 weeks because of the whole "vita is doomed"-thingy. But damn, these PS+ is a well played move, Sony, well played indeed. Even if you are (again!) shitty in Europe.

Speaking of, what is up with the EU PlayStation Blog, it has been all "Be Right Back" since like thursday or something.
 
Too many games. And with P4 coming out, I just do not know what to play. Tough choices.
I already have Mutant Blobs Attack! and FF Tactics but all 6 of these games are seriously legit.
 
This is awesome if I could actually fit shit on my memory card. Eventually, I'll have to break down and pay that ridiculous price I guess.

Im sorry but your claim to being a Vitabro (or any Vita*something*) was over the moment you sold it, never to be claimed again.

So... what's the best practice for cleaning out the Vita's fridge? I've heard some worrying stories about lost saves, so I want to be ultra cautious. I do have backups on both my ps3 and my pc.
 
Damn. I'd convinced myself I was going to skip Vita - now it suddenly seems very tempting as I have Plus already and that means an instant, free and decent games collection to start with.

That, and It's meant to be much improved too, which is welcome. I can easily see Vita taking some or most of my phones place at home for web browsing and Twitter/Facebook interactions.

Going to clean out my fridge for PS+ and considering COD doesn't even work online any more for me (Insufficient NAT lol) It's a prime target.

i think that's sony's plan. Make some ps3 users, that are psn+ members, and who might have considered vita and are on the fence to finally jump in. Considering the temporary 199€ deal i think they may succeed.
 
since Playstation 1 I was gifted or bought a playstation for my birthday. After getting a ps3 just for dark souls last year, i kind of wrote off consoles again..so I completely ignored the Vita.

Today I was gifted a Vita. This ps+ update and os updates are a very very cool surprise! I actually feel like the day I got playstation 1!
 
The Vita is a great system. I'll gladly sink with the ship if it's enviable, but I have faith. I had the same faith as I did in the PS3 and PSP during it's first year. The first few years of PSP was terrible if people have forgotten. The first year of the PS3 was pretty bad if it wasn't for Uncharted for me.

i am really hoping that sony takes a new direction like we see with ps+ . Before it felt like they were riding on the coat tails of ps2 but now, after taking a beating, i hope they will get their act together and finally make a very solid plan forward.

By not buying it? It didn't seem to be taking off and I'd decided i just wouldn't buy into the platform at all.

But now - given I already have Plus buying a Vita suddenly gets me a decent set of games for free, more than enough to cover the initial outlay for a WiFi only model.

Wat? You sold it because you got scared or something since people on the Internet were saying that it's doomed? I'm sorry, but that is beyond pathetic. :/

Even if the Vita was doomed, I'd keep my console no matter what. At least as a collector's item. ;D

Sony just seriously need to drop the price. The same move that helped the PS3 and the PSP. The PS3 slim price drop dramatically helped out the PS3 because it put it at a decent price of 300 dollars. There were even commercials about it. A price drop would get more developers on board as well.

What? The first few years of the PSP were awesome (2005-2007). The PSP was probably at its peak in terms of software for its first 3 years.

2008 and later, other than the God of War games, you basically just got a string of JRPGs. Which is nice, since I like those. But you didn't get stuff like GTA anymore (except a DS port), and while there were some later NFS games, they were pretty awful. And they pulled Sony Bend off of Syphon Filter and made them do Resistance, which I guess is okay if you like Resistance, but I don't.

I think people are forgetting all the stuff the PSP got early on, before Western support dried up. A lot of things were flawed, but that was due to the limitation of the platform. The Warriors, Gun, Test Drive Unlimited, Star Wars Battlefront II, NFS: Carbon (Free roam), Field Commander (nice Advance Wars clone from SOE), etc

their problem is that they can't. they try to cram all these doodads into their hardware and realistically..some games don't ever use them. Rear touch panel, 2 cameras? Almost all AAA or AA titles are run of the mill, directional pad and analog sticks/buttons - sometimes the front touch screen is used. Yeah sure...in theory it would be awesome to use all of these inputs but..is it worth it to pay $100 more for that stuff when all you need is a nice screen, wifi and joysticks?

The first few years of PSP were light years ahead of Vita.

Also, the in-game browser news is fantastic.

Come on, you really think that it was this reason alone? I had more then this, but did not want to make such a big posting about it (especially since english is not my main language).

But Vita prices at that time were dropping faster then the pants of Kim Kardashian (169€ in the Amazon store at that time), the Sony PSN support in Europe was more than bad (still is) and the Vita was not what I had expected.

hopefully this sets things so we can get back to topic :)

I'm not going to say it wasn't better (although maybe it wasn't), but I'd sure like to hear your reasoning for "light years". Although my memory is pretty shit, all I remember playing on my PSP in the first year was Lumines and Capcom fighting games. I've played those and a hell of a lot more on my Vita. *shrug*

IIRC the 2 cameras were costed at about $3.50 in an initial teardown and I doubt the rear touch is going to have added much.

In the end no, they probably could have left them out, but this way the devs have options. Rear touch for the sniper scope in Uncharted was good and its use in Escape plan was great if a little troublesome at times.

They put a marker on it in LBP so at least you could see where you finger is so they obviously listened to people saying they couldn't work out where they were touching.

I also like its application on the browser where you can scroll around using the rear touch.

I could live without the cameras, but that would then mean there was no VR, and though most of the VR stuff so far has been a bit pants, some like Pulzar and fireworks are neat enough little games that otherwise wouldn't be possible.
