Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

Is 2.0 coming out today or at least before the stores update tomorrow? I'd imagine the PSN being pretty stressed if every Vita owner is downloading an update, then close to 8gb of free games.

Morgan Haro, the PSN guy on the blog post just now said it's more than likely to come this evening.

Holy cow, ONE YEAR subscription to Music Unlimited Premium in the US for Plus members: $12! That's insane!

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/11/19/playstation-plus-update-instant-game-collection-comes-to-ps-vita/

That's 80-90% off.

Nice. Never used until now. When I entered the site I was greeted with a "this service is unavaliable for your country". OK, then. But even so I enter the SEN website and logged with my PSN account, and then "Would you like to activate a free 14-day trial of Music Unlimited?" Sure, why not? And IT WORKS (on PC, at least). Will try with the Vita later.

The audio quality is way better than grooveshark. For $1 for month, I'l bite.

First week sales are
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
Prinny1
ZHP
Cladun2

They wrote that they'll exchange the sale items weekly.

Thats a little better, already have disgaea 1. Hopefully they do put Disgaea 2 up eventually. I didn't realize Persona 2 was on sale so have to buy that today sometime, Persona 4 tomorrow and now ZHP. Eating into my very small Black Friday budget. At this point will probably just be Lumines at Amazon for $15 unless they through the Lego Vita games up for sale.

The new uncharted game makes sense. Give Vita-ers a free $40 game, then sell them a $5 ancillary. Not exactly sure why all the hate. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Still worth it for $20.

Eh, depends. Quest for Booty wasn't worth $15, that's for sure. I suppose if you played the Beta and liked it or something, sure, but I won't blind buy it for $20.

Looks like they delayed the Vita version of Ratchet and Clank

That's really unfortunate, as part of the benefit of cross-buy here is the fact that all your save progress could be swapped, I believe. If someone were to buy the PS3 version and beat it and decide they're done with it, the cross-buy did nothing for them. They'd probably forget about the Vita version or only go back if it was a really good game to them or they were trophy hunting.

I mean, hell, my PS3 was dead and being serviced when Soundshapes came out. I platinumed it on Vita and I only played it once on ps3 to check out the dual shock controller for it as well as to sync my save and get a second set of trophies to pop. :\

Hey Gaf, I've got a code to early download T@G from PSN (that app to make graffiti on the city streets via Street View, you know) but It requires 3G Vita

If someone is interested quote me with a "Vita is doomed" message

Come on Wipeout MSRP price drop on PSN store tomorrow... =(

I know I can just subscribe to PSN+ to get it but I'd rather have my own copy.

owhere currently. Cheapest on Amazon was about $72 at one point. I was holding out for $60 but just caved after no Black Friday deals coming apparently.

Been searching myself and I don't think there are any. Best bet is on a cyber Monday maybe?

Trying to get a Gaming Hardware deal during Cyber Monday is brutal.

So it's probably not happening? Because if that's the case I'll get the 32 gig whenever I'm doing my regular Black Friday shopping...

Not saying they wont put up a deal, but if you see a deal somewhere else you might as well grab that. Chance of getting a 32GB if Amazon puts that up for Cyber Monday is still there though. Getting that is small however. You could literally try to get a deal once it goes live, hit a server error, refresh and *poof* all gone.

In regards to 32gig cards. On amazon I saw them in the high 60s/low 70s until the ps+ vita games were revealed and then they jumped up to 80+ probably because people bought them for the first time ever outside of insane people at launch.

No, they were $80 before the announcement. The $75 was probably a third-party fulfilled by Amazon. I know because I bought one for $80 right before the reveal.

The UI for the Music Unlimited App is pretty slick. Is kinda the Vita store, but with some great functionalities. Gonna grab the IOS version for comparsion.

More impressions on both please.

That Uncharted game is going to be $5? Have never played one before, but might take the punt at that price. Ties into Golden Abyss as well.

Yep, 5 bucks for a card game. The asynchronous MP is worth the 5 bucks for me already. Hopefully its good.

The iOS version was just recently updated to be more in line with the rest of them. I only have a 3GS though and it's a small screen (way fewer pixels) vs the Vita. On the other hand there is no iPAD version yet, though music unlimited actually works really well just as a website you can log into in most browsers, which I think is one of the bigger advantages for me (apart from being available on PS3 and Vita) that Music Unlimited has vs Spotify, together with sound quality.

Spotify has better features (shared playlists - like I can google for a Rocksmith playlist that has all the songs from that game, and find at least 3), and a much better music selection for Europeans (lots of stuff in my native language)

EDIT: lol at t@g, there are three guys on my friends list that already played this before me (albeit only max 2 hours before me). I do really love that aspect of Vita gaming, seeing friends activities for the games I own like that, without even having to startup the game.

Btw, I noticed yesterday that the OS doesnt tell you about updates for some games. I went through every game and clicked the update icon. 6 of my games had updates I didnt know about. Weird.

Hopefully 2.x.x introduces some expansion on the current push notification system.

With how Nintendo's botched the whole ID thing on the Wii U, my appreciation to Sony for having things work when they finally release things, delays and all, went up exponentially. It's crazy to think that I could have bought a PS1 classic on my PSP years ago and I could still download and play it without a hitch on my PS3 and Vita, but you can't buy Mario Bros. on the VC without having it take 5 extra steps, a console to console transfer and have to rebuy it on the 3DS.

Yep. I really wish Nintendo accounts worked like PSN accounts (or really any other account based system out there)

Completely agree.

The orange update icon only shows up on a game's livearea when an update is available. I think.

edit - sorry, misunderstood what you're saying I think. But yeah, the presence or absence of the icon on a livearea is the only notification...sending that out to the notifications center might be a nice idea for sure. But maybe they think that it's only relevant to update a game if you're going to play it, rather than telling you about games you may not care about anymore - in which case you'll see an update is available when you go to play.

Well, if I dont care about a game, I delete it. So of course I dont want push messages, but if its still installed? Should be at least an option in the settings to decide how/which we want push notifications to be handled.

Besides.. some of these games didnt even have the "download update" icon. I needed to press the "update" button to GET the download update icon. Just weird.

The worst thing is, in the end it doesn't matter. Nintendo will sell more Wii Us 3DSes than Sony will sell Vitas.
