Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

There isn't much they could add to the system that is more valuable to me than having my UMD rips on it. I'll probably stick with necessary FW for CFW until Ys gets released, and who knows when that will be.

And speaking of UMD rips, I keep seeing mixed comments about whether or not VC3 works. My copy will arrive any day now, but since I don't have it yet I can't test for myself. And even if it does work, there's no guarantee it will with the translation patch.

Yeah, I largely bought mine to be a super PSP, I'm not budging, no use for PS+ anyway. If I want a game I'll buy it, not wait for it to cycle on a subscription service.

Its a good deal, though.

Hopefully there's a better crack next year, hopefully when Ys If, if it gets localized, comes out, and if Soul Sacrifice is any good. I don't really care if they ever touch the Vita side, I just want my PSP library on it properly.

:lol @ turn around here and at wololo's site simply because a rental service is coming. But whatever.

I played my 2 PSP games I copied over for like 30 minutes since using this exploit. Whatever

It's just taking up space than anything

As with PSP, GBA is great, SNES sucks. I've been saying from the start that one of the most exciting possibilities of Vita hacking is that I might one day play Super Mario Kart at 60fps on a handheld. Super Circuit is great and all, but SMK is what I want, dammit.

So many people seem to say this PSP emulation on Vita is 'good enough', but it's not. It never was! Have these people never played a SNES?

Yep... SNES emulation even on the actual PSP was not great. A lot of games had to resort to using frame skip to reach full speed. Some games also had occasional rendering issues.

A few people told me it was flawless before here, just shook my head.

.

Hopefully 2.0 doesn't block homebrew.

This. I only really cared about playing some of my old snes games. I don't even have a NES or GBA cart reader =S (add on for GB card slots are expensive..). So I figured I could play some of my favorite SNES games...

nope.

Nope nope nope. I can't play that shit with frame skip either. Hurts my head.

.

GBA runs full speed most of the time though. I actually just finished beating all of Yoshis Island GBA on my Vita.

Hopefully 2.0 doesn't block homebrew.

I'll hold out hope as well, since the exploit only affects the PSP "mode". So maybe pulling and patching the exploited games is their way of controlling the problem without having to release dozens of useless updates like they did with PSP.

But I have no idea how these things work, so we'll see soon enough.

Someone got their hands on the developer kit, may lead to some cracks. If they find a firmware 2.0 crack and it leads to kernal exploits, BisonYES.gif

I just hope Persona 4 doesn't require me to upgrade, gawwwd.

I'm not calling you in particular out. I just find it hilarious the 180 of "FUCK SONY" to "OMG SONY YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" with the PS Rental Service announcement on the usual places.

Because is a good service, for a very small fee (and, if you already got PS+ on PS3, for free), and even if technically is a rental service, is not a weekend rental, you keep the games meanwhile you get subscribed. Also, is very easy to get a month PS+ subscription, and that means having "free" Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Wipeout only filling a few fields in a website. No one though that the PS+ offer for Vita was going to be something as good, without increasing the PS+ price.

Meanwhile, Vita homebrew:
1.- Require to be really fast to do the trick before the exploit is taken out of the store.
2.- Only PSP, so you can do exactly the same with any PSP, without caring about updates or losing any significative feature.
3.- Is not an upgradable homebrew. Is not like in PSP, that when you were in CFW, you could remain in CFW, updating the version. When you enter in CFW, you'll lose the chance to get any new digital game, change your Vita digital games and also play any future retail game.
4.- There is always the risk of a ban, if you are not careful. Vita is even more monitorized than PS3, and you don't know, even if you deleted the exploit files before the update, if they can know that you had a CFW. No one know what kind of log is stored in the Vita part that the exploit can't reach.

Is normal that, when you put both things in the balance, people see PS+ as a much better choice. Is not anymore "oh, I can wait with CFW until Soul Sacrifice", because each month you'll have more games for "free".

I hope than in a few years will have a more featured homebrew, right now there are too many problems.

* Added custom folder hider(fixes dj max portable 3 crash).
* Fixed issue with backups which within load an ELF file (fixes crash in Talkman and probably in more games).

* Added PIC1 display.
* Fixed bug that doesn’t allow you to go to PSVita menu when you load TN Menu within TN Menu.
* Fixed crash when you move a backup file and the ISO folder does not exist.
* Made everything smoother.
* Improved ZIP reading (increases menu boot with packages).

Nice update. The backgrounds in particular are a small thing, but it gives the whole thing a much nicer look.

Though it loads a bit wonkier than the "flash" in the previous version, and takes a few seconds to start. Thought I did something wrong at first since TN-B loaded almost instantly and this doesn't.

Deleting stuff is weird too. Accidently re-added my FTP archive, and when I deleted it the bar went offscreen, and said 1000%. Works fine, just an odd bug.

What does this mean, exactly?

Edit: And does the upcoming firmware mean I can't use FTP anymore since I need to turn WiFi on?

I assume that is for homebrew stuff like emulators. I guess Sony underclocked the Vita for PSP emulation, and that allows you to adjust the clock speed.

And I don't think Sony forces updates over WiFi. You still have to manually update unless that was changed in 1.81.

Okay so I need to test this out now.

So to completely delete this cfw I just delete the mad blocker alpha bubble from my vita? I guess we don't know if it leaves any traces? I'm sure there is a log of sorts like the ps3 has. Oh well. I used the hack for about an hour in total.

I don't that's it. Myself I will be using FTP to delete all my roms, eboots etc, and THEN deleting the save.

If you didn't delete everything, you could always backup your memory card to your PC, and then to a format on the memory card.

Is turning on WiFi still safe?

Uh-oh. 2.0 launches and they have a
user-mode
exploit that already works not even an hour later.

Kernal Mode/"CFW" Exploit may be patched but it's too early to know. Still, impressive and shocking that 2.0 has an exploit. Depending on how it goes, I may update and keep my ability to play MG:AC!D on the system while enjoying P4G (And since that's the last game releasing on the system I guess no more system updates. Trollolololol?)

For what purpose? Using the browser, twitter apps, whatever that doesn't use PSN? Yes, most likely. For possible PSN access that may get you banned (if they do it, most likely wont?) No.

Someone has already found a new user mode exploit and has Hello World running.

The kernel exploit is blocked.

You won't be able to play Metal Gear Acid. This is just a user mode exploit. The best they can do with it is Half Byte Loader. They need a kernel level exploit to be able to load custom firmware and play ISOs.

Yeah, I know. Hopefully they'll find another Kernal exploit, but I may run out and get another one as a "replacement"/official route one to hold onto while leaving this one offline until a significant in-road is made on the exploit front.

Well, that was fast. The guy who had Hello World running has found a kernel level exploit for 2.00 and is working on porting over TN custom firmware.

I always miss these exploits, as Sony usually pulls the game before I've read up on it. So, is there a good website for updates and news on this sort of thing?

I always said I'd buy a vita if it gets hacked, time to buy one of these bitches. Information should be free!
