Assassins Creed 3 PC performance thread

So what does Very High do if you have a 500 series card?

Is there no option to turn off all the shit AA solutions and get manly solutions like MSAA and/or SSAA?

Good question, I have a GTX670 and I was not given the choice, TXAA or nothing on very high settings. The high setting FXAA looks good as long as you are not an IQ ayatollah.

Tried to make one of Dennis' famous GIFs - I can't replicate his awesomeness.

I know its already said in OP but updating to beta drivers is a must.

Friend says that beta drivers + gtx580 = current official drivers + 580 sli in terms of performance.

Will be visiting his house tonight to see some 1080p asscreed :)

game constantly crashes to black screen for me. There are lots of others with the issue on the steam forums. There is something weird going on with windows v re distributable and every time you validate the files it downloads the corrupt file.

Anyway I'm re installing, we'll see.

Very high isn't TXAA no matter what, if you have a 600 series card there is a specific TXAA option.

i5-2500k
8gb RAM
HD 6950

Everything maxed except for AA (which I currently have set to normal).

60fps for the most part, just arrived at Boston and it dipped to 40, nothing dramatic, game looks great. Would love an option to disable the 'skip' notification during cutscenes.

These shadows across his cape on the ship looked damn amazing, screen doesn't quite do it justice but here we are anyway:

Where ?

I did not see it, I only have 3 settings for AA and no separate option for TXAA.

Normal, High, Very High, TXAA

If it's not showing up and you have a 600 series card then something is wrong with your drivers.

Arrived at Boston and the FPS is all over the place, 40-60 and the tearing ... the god damn tearing.

It's funny, no matter how powerful your PC is it refuses to maintain a steady 60 on high settings, especially in Boston it appears.

i5 3570K (no OC)
8g RAM
ATI radeon 5750 (small 1g card.......)

Everything in high except AA on normal, runs perfectly smooth 60fps, except....... Yep, Boston.... Down to 40 fps... The game looks pretty good, better than on consoles, and I always got better framerate thab my pals (but I play the game just now.... They all finished it!=. DEAL!

I turned off vsync and I'm now downsampling at 2560x1440 and the frame rate isn't unbearable. Pretty happy to be honest.

Intel i5 3570k @ 4Ghz
GTX670 stock
8GB Ram

All setting maxed out. 1080p TXAA. I am getting 60FPS with dps to the 50s in boston. The strange thing about the dips is that my GPU usage also dips into the 60s-70s during these so I dont know if I am maxing my CPU since I wasnt monitoring that or they just need a patch/newer Nvidia Driver.

I think the game looks pretty good.

3930k @ 4.7GHz

2 x 680 4GBs + latest drivers

Should be sufficient but I'm not even seeing a steady FPS outside of Boston, fluctuates between 50-60 as others have reported and Boston 40-60 as ... others have reported.

Definitely something that needs patching, rather than more power.

My game keeps crashing. It's really annoying. It runs fine around 60fps then the GPU spikes and it crashes

Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz

Underclock your gpu to 570 stock settings and update your drivers to the new beta.

maxed out everything except AA, that is on normal, 1080p and it sank when I entered Boston I got 30-40fps, I'm now getting 50-60 most of the time.

Game's pretty :)

i5 2500k @ 4.7
GTX 570 @ 900/2000
Latest beta drivers

AA on High, everything else maxed gives a solid 60 except the occasional drop to 50 when entering Boston or when I take screenshots. Maxing AA results in more periodic drops to 40-50.

?? Why is that? I'm curious as i have a Gigabyte gtx580 superoverclock, so i want to know if that's gonna be a problem.
It's probably just the video card being unstable under max load. OME overclocked cards are sometimes like that. You shouldn't worry unless you are getting random crashes and BSODs.

Going to finish Darksiders 2 first (which doesn't like crossfire) and then enable crossfire and dick around with beta drivers/settings. See ya tomorrow or Friday.

i7 860
GTX 460 (310.61)
1080p
Full quality except AA normal
~35-45FPS (FRAPS)

Overclock from 2.8 to 3.5 didn't seem to affect anything.

Yeah even after reinstalling the game I'm getting crashes constantly. I'm on the new drivers. It has something to do with the vc redistributable.

i7 920 @ 4.2
2 x 7970
1080p
Everything maxed

Running with 1 card my fps goes into the low 30s in Boston and fluctuates between 40-100 everywhere else.

As usual with AC games, my performance with crossfire enabled is worse than it is disabled. If I leave both cards running I go down to 19 fps in Boston and I get worse drops more often.

I'm hopeful that newer drivers will help somewhat, but I'm 100% convinced that I'll never be able to run this game at a consistent 60 fps.

After playing around 9 hours (probably less because of all the time spent reading data entries etc) I've found a nice balance.

Downsampling at 2560x1440, vsync off, shadows to high (sometimes back up to very high when I feel like it), and AA to normal.

Still dips to 30fps every now and then (weather seems to do it especially snow) but other than that I'm averaging between 40-50fps.

If what people are saying is true and that a patch could improve performance then I'll be very happy.
