10 bucks in less than 4 years some shitty writer will fuck up Logan perfect arc on UXF
by reviving Daken.

That's a huge Wolverine development. I hope Aaron, Cho (lololololol) and Cornell develop it on their series. Considering Cornell mission statement that new series is perfect to do that. Suddenly the premise is much more interesting!

Remender is a master. That meta panel with Deadpool was so funny!

Ok fuck the haters, Deadpool is great! Deadpool/Ben Franklin team up? Yes please! Hulk was good too, but I think Captain America was the stand out new series this week.

EDIT: Damn you Dan Slott, why did I read the 700 preview? Why do I have these allergies?

canceled my MDCU subscription to make sure it doesn't get renewed when i get forgetful. I'll probably sign up again when the dedicated app comes out presuming it fixes the readability and browsing quality. Also....fix those gaps in updated issues!

Hulk is pretty smart, but it's still a motherfucking green Hulk comic. So, I kinda sorta expect it to go and hit the same notes as every other goddamn vanilla Hulk comic, since that's how those things tend to go.

Dat ASM #700 preview...

I've given up on pretending I can avoid spoilers.

Mmhm.
I imagine it will be a fitting end...
And I may not end up reading Superior after that. I already will be reading Avengers, New Avengers, Captain Marvel and Gambit to read. Then maybe something else, not sure what yet.

Hulk #1: super awesome! Great first issue and I hope it keeps up, in Waid we trust!

Deadpool #2: great issue, liked it more than the first. All the Teddy stuff was amazing plus dat ending.

Hawkeye #4: fun stuff, probably my least favorite issue so far though. Was mostly set up and Pulido is good but he's no Aja. Why are the faces so derpy? Loved the end though.

I'm straight up mad that they're playing the "Oh hey Spidey is just chilling out in Limbo with Ben and Gwen but he can leave because he's got shit to do" card. It somehow manages to make Comic Book Death even more fucking meaningless. This is fucking stupid. If you're gonna build a fucking Freaky Friday death trap, you need to stay the goddamn course and keep Peter Parker dead.

Dude, you do nothing but complain about ASM, at this point why do you even care? It's not like Slott is going to stop writing it.

Don't be mad bro, it probably isn't what you think

Since Silver Sable isn't dead, according to Madame Web. Peter only THINKS she is dead, get what I am saying?

It's a dream. He's still inside his body. So 700 is probably going to be him fighting Doc Ock for control.

Wonder Woman was pretty great. The end implyed we will get some movement On the new gods stuff.

Hulk was fun. Banner resenting Richards and stark was great.

Because I care about Spider-Man. He's a great fucking character, and he's being wasted in his own book. That's what pisses me off more than anything. The fact that he's stuck in this sea of happenstance, stupid plot devices and twists meant to show how unrealistically great at everything he is. I shouldn't hate on Spider-Man. No one should. But Slott has made me a hater, and I hate that fact.

You hate a superhero for being super? He's not even great at everything.

That is a great opinion, man. Perhaps you should stop reading Slott's run and enjoy a previous writer then. Let those that like it (like myself) enjoy it. #Slottwasright

Bro I hate how Marvel shits on Spidey too but Slott is having major fun with the book.

Preach it brother. This and the USM cartoon we are living in bad times for Spidey.

This just makes me think who is going to be writing Spider-Man next. It could be a few more years before we find out.

So is there a trade of Spidey 2099? If not, why?

I would guess that once upon a time there was, but it is now hard to find because marvel doesn't keep very many things in print, relatively speaking. I have not looked and am basing this on my past experience trying to find things.

So I got a six hour trip tomorrow, should I start with Gillen JiM or Hickman FF?

Both are great, but JiM probably has a more short-term payoff. Then again, that first arc of Hickman's Fantastic Four is so goddamn good. It's just that he does a lot of one-shots and small arcs before everything starts to culminate in the amazingness that his run is known for.

I'd say that Hickman's FF run is the better story, but JiM is probably more conducive to an isolated burst of reading if you're going to try to reach any kind of payoff by the end of the trip.

Let's talk Cap. Holy shit. It is straight up ADVENTURE!, in all caps with the exclamation mark. It's got a man fighting MONSTERS, so he can SAVE THE WORLD and GET THE GIRL. And SCIENCE! And it's got Dean White, continuing his streak of turning any pencils into the greatest work of an artist's life. Shit is CRAY. BUY THAT SHIT.

Cap was great.
And that part where Steve's mom stands up to his drunken father - you KNOW that look. All at once, you understand where Steve's courage comes from.

This is something we can agree on, Cap was straight up the best book from Marvel this week.

I read the vast majority of Brubaker's run and enjoyed a lot of it.

This issue was the first time I actually connected with the man, Steve Rogers, instead of the icon, Captain America. But it's also got big sci-fi adventures and genuine intrigue to go along with it.

Well done.

watching the amazing spider-man for the first time. the first fight scene in the subway was great, and the fact that the beer that started it all was a brooklyn lager made it 100 times more authentic. bravo.

Hickman FF will change your life.

You nailed it - was great to see more rollicking Fear Agent-style sci fi actioneering and adventure . It's gonna have some Big Ideas in it, that's for sure.

Thanks I'll save FF for the return trip.

Is Hickman FF collected on Comixology?

It is, but I'll be reading it in trades.

The great thing about Hickman's run is that it starts with one of the best arcs of the entire run with "Solve Everything." It's tied in with Hickman's Dark Reign: Fantastic Four miniseries, but you don't need to have read it to understand the story. Basically, all you need to know is the following:

(Dark Reign: Fantastic Four Spoilers)

Out of guilt over everything that's happened with Civil War and Secret Invasion, Reed builds this machine that allows him to see the outcomes of different realities. He's looking for a timeline in which he may have made better decisions. As a result of this machine phasing into different timelines, Sue, Johnny and Ben end up traversing through time and space unbeknownst to Reed.

All the while, Norman Osborn and H.A.M.M.E.R. are trying to take over the Baxter Building, so it's up to Franklin and Valeria to stop him. Franklin shoots Osborn in the head with a nerf gun. It's adorable.

At the end, Sue convinces Reed to shut the machine off for good and just focus on THIS reality. He tells her that he will.

BUT HE TOTALLY DOESN'T.

Anyway, that's where his mainline FF run starts.

It's a great story, and I definitely enjoyed it, but it's not required reading to understand his run. I mean, if it was, they wouldn't have buried it in a Dark Reign miniseries.

Yeah, Valeria. When was she added to the FFamily? I know of Franklin from way, way back, but when was she "born?"

Claremont created her in the late 90s, but honestly, her origin's all kinds of fucked up. You first meet her as an adult from the future where she claims to be Sue and Dr. Doom's kid, then Reed gets trapped in Doom's armor, so you're like, "Oh, I guess she was Reed's daughter all along." Then Claremont got kicked off the book so Jeph Loeb could take over. He made her a miscarriage that Sue had years earlier, BUT WAIT, Franklin saved her and sent her to be cared for by this universal guardian named Roma. Then some other bullshit happened and Valeria was turned back into a fetus and was popped back into Sue's womb.

Then Sue gave birth to Valeria.

It's fucked, man. Just don't think about it.

I'll join the people in agreement with this. Very good book and you nailed the feels.

I'm still convinced Reed Richards is the biggest POS in the Marvel universe.

I think he is just too smart for his own good, or for everyone's good. One of the magic of Hickman's run was to realize how he is always one step to become a mad evil genius. He is not a bad guy, but his brain can go to bad places.

i didn't really dig fraction's FF, but i'll give it a shot. something sbout it felt "off" but i like the idea of going on some fun light hearted family adventures that aren't super crazy like hickman.

i just don't get why someone would skip the first 5 issues of the run is all.

LiQuid!

Got so many fucking comics today I don't even know what to do with em all. So far read ASM 698 and UXF 34 and I would just like to say "HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK" to both. Been avoiding Comic GAF cause of all you turdburglars and your ASM spoilers and glad I did.

Can't say I was surprised by anything that happened in UXF, so this final arc hasn't had the "oh shit!" shocking moments that made Dark Angel so great. Also it's kind of corny how sappy and dadporny it is, but I'm still pleased in the end result. Feels like we've come full circle from the first arc and nothing can happen in the final issue that will make this not one of my favorite comic runs of all time.

Well, I think you had it right - it's a prologue. It sets up some of the themes that get explored in the run. But since he's already bought these trades, I just don't think it's totally necessary for him to buy the Dark Reign miniseries. The main series does a good enough job setting up the key plot points of the miniseries that he wouldn't be lost at all.
