Dick can go toe to toe with Bruce. He would eat Jason's lunch than shit out into his helmet.

Dick only goes toe to toe with Bruce when Bruce is feeling generous. My judgement might be clouded because I like Jason and Damian more than Tim and Dick by a fair margin. Something about being trained in the art of killing by assassin leagues older than man.

Bruce wasn't taught by All Caste. Regardless I still say Damian and Jason would take Dick and Tim. Since technically both Jason and Damian have beaten up Tim...poor kid. D:

You cannot sway me Yamato! Save your voodoo argumentz!

Why would you match up Dick/Tim against Jason/Damien. Dick/Damien were Batman and Robin, they are the best. DD>JT

Hawkeye #4 was great with my worries about the change in art put at ease and Deadpool #2 was another fun ride although I'd prefer it if everyone other than Deadpool himself didn't ham it up as much. Wade needs straight acts to bounce off.

Cass & Steph will return one day. Right? Guys?

;_;

Planetery's always been a bit inside baseball for me, felt like an illustrated history lesson of sci-pulp comics instead of just BEING a sci-fi pulp comic. I read up to issue #7 and quit.

Man I was so wrong about Iron Man. I thought Gillens writing could carry it but he has been average. And Land is downright disgustingly awful. I don't want to see another picture of Tonys face drawn by him ever again. Marvel has the opposite problem of DC, they let too many artist hang around that aren't good. DC has too many 90s writers. Fuck that was disappointing.

I agree. I was looking at releases this week and after the suffering through Lands art in Iron Man #1 I decided I would wait and see if Gillen has an acclaimed run and pick it up after the fact.

I astounds me that this guy keeps getting work when there are doubtless better artists in the industry.

I discovered Transmetropolitan at the right age. I was 17, I was that super cynical kid who thought he knew everything, and Spider Jerusalem was like my personal Jesus. I still think he's one of comics' greatest characters, and the best thing Ellis has been involved with.

Never been a huge Warren Ellis fan myself. He's got some great comic books, but he's also got a lot of bland ones. I lot of work-for-hire shit in there(although some of that is really cool, Thunderbolts, Nextwave, about half of his Secret Avengers issues were great), a lot of Avatar comics with third-rate Geoff Darrow clones. He just produces a lot of comics, and so much of his work is just white noise, the onslaught of it, even if it's consistently of a higher standards than your run-of-the-mill comic book writer.

I've got to believe that Gillen hates the fact that that hack is on his book.

Come on guys, why wasn't there more chuckling over derp Thor?

He looks like Nicko McBrain drummer for Iron Maiden in this panel. :p

Interesting that they credit Dean White as "Color Artist" in Thor. Lah dee dah! But it's appreciated compared to. . .

Red She Hulk continues to suck and send the message Mehvel has zero confidence in the character, so here have some Avengers too! Ugggh. Plus I want ALL Carlos PanGangNamStyle art in the issues.

Coloring is bland and poopy on the book too.

Freelancers was pretty good for a buck, although I wish Felipe Smith was doing all the art. :(

Going to check out Evil Ernie (waaaat?!) after listening to Dee Snyder's kid sound really passionate about writing it well. Hope I don't end up regretting it. :X

You quit before it happens, but Planetary starts being it's own thing as the series progresses. It would be like quitting 100 Bullets after the first arc or two and assuming that the entire run is a series of short stories of people getting revenge. Sure it starts that way, but it evolves into something more.

You should go back and read the rest of Planetary.

Where I agree that Planetary is worth persevering with, I gave up with 100 Bullets because it wasn't a series of short stories like that.

The thing is he has three movies with Robert Downey Jr in it to trace! How can he make Stark look so awful?

It's not just Stark though. I can't deal with a comic where I'm continually asking myself "Who is that? Is that The Mandarin? Is she the Mandarin?"

Haven't read Planetary yet but Transmet is one of my favorite comics of all time. Funny, poignant, political and crass. The art was super solid, too.

Yes, Spider was a Hunter S Thomson ripoff but he was a damn good character all the same.

It was always so exciting when Planetary would show up randomly in my box.

Awesome team! I'd buy another book with them together again.

I'm gonna buy this right now

I can't wait for it. I'm sure it'll happen someday...but I'm the wierdo that loved Ben Reilly Spider-man and May Parker and I'm not expecting to see them again.

I think it makes that shift a little past that. The first dozen issues (maybe less) are most definitely a big tribute to pop culture fiction, but it does settle into its own story later.

His Thunderbolts is really good. You wanna talk about payoffs, those final issues are incredible

Ellis' Thunderbolts is one of my favorite comic runs of the last decade. Not joking.

Anyone read a book called Infinite King Fu before? I saw it in my lcs yesterday and am considering picking it up, it looked like a Shaw Brothers kung fu masterpiece in comic form.

It's one of those books I have on my shelf, but just never really bothered to read it. The lettering annoyed me.

BUT

BUT

One of the main characters in Infinite Kung Fu is a martial arts master named Moog Joogular who rolls around in a track suit and a sweet afro and occasionally ends his fights by throwing his own head at people.

I picked it up a year ago and loved it. I lent it to a bunch of my coworkers when I worked in the comic shop and they all loved it. Kung fun zombie book madness...

OK that's crazy. Time to try and find myself a copy.

I hope so. He probably told Marbel he is picking whoever the heck he wants for YA. For a company that seems so conscious on getting movie fans, how do you have such a bad artist for a character that rocketed your movie ambitions?

And Infinite Kung Fuis crazy brahs.

finally got around to starting Waid's Daredevil - powering through Bendis' run really tired me out on the character. i'm glad i dove in - it's not as depressing as the other DD stuff i read.

then this page came in the first issue. because new york city is the greatest city in the world, it's no small wonder that is in fact the greatest comic book location in the world.

San Fran is better. Chi-town is better. London is better. Paris is better. LA is better just because we have actual good food; better weather and beaches too.

New York has a nice skyline though.

SF is a great city, Chicago winters are too brutal, London is rad, Paris is super rad.

LA is one of the worst major cities I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. Just because you get better produce, seafood and mexican here doesn't mean it's a better city.

You crazy.

um, what NY calls "Mexican" is absolutely disgusting, even Baja Fresh is better. I have family out there, visit a few times a year, and have had the displeasure of eating Mexican food in NY multiple times. Some Cubans slapping beans on a tortilla is not a fucking burrito.

There is something for everyone in LA. I've hated every part of NY I have been to outside of Manhattan.

Paris is my favorite city though. I spent a lot time in the city.

i meant "here" because i am actually IN socal right now. i'm moving back to ny next year though, don't care for it. SF is super rad, but i still need NYC back.

Really man, BK has amazing Mexican places...

Check it:

Lived down the street and ate here at least twice a week. Tons of good mexican spots in NYC but guessing you didn't explore the city enough to find them.
