Wow went to my local mall the its a friggin zoo compared to two years ago. Lots of great deals but didn't want to bother with the insane lines just to get inside the stores, then more lines for the register. Last time I was at the mall we walked in checked shit out and just paid and left in an hours time.

I was tempted to go to H&M but it was maybe an hour wait just to get inside.

I'll wait for cyber monday deals.

I did order a Kingston HyperX 120GB SSD for $65 after tax+ from Newegg.

You guys dropping 400-600 like its nothing. I felt dirty for getting my tv for it being so much(should've gotten one smaller but oh well go big or go home)..if you dont mind me asking, what do some of y'all do for a living? How far in advance do y'all usually save?

CompUSA is selling Windows 8 Pro Upgrade for $48 tomorrow (with coupon).

Are there any other better deals out there?

Can I do a clean install of an upgrade version, do I just need the old serial number of my Windows 7 install? Or do I have to install it over a previous version of Windows?

I'm a college student with no living expenses. I make money here and there fixing computers, websites, etc. Also, Diablo III. $$$

I'm a technical writer, and only make $38,000k in the Bay Area. I currently live at home with my parents though, so I can pay off a bit of my student loans, and the Nook is the only major luxury expense I've pursued in the last year. Considering that, and the fact that this is likely Christmas and Birthday gift for myself (Birthday is in February), it's not actually that big of a deal. Plus I'll likely be selling the 2nd television I purchased sometime in the near future.

I don't know about this thread, but there are plenty of people who will do most, if not all their personal spending for the year today.

And on that note, time to go work a 6 to 3 shift! Sigh.

If you are middle class, it doesn't mean much to drop 400-600 on entertainment electronics.

I am only a few thousand bucks above the poverty line and I was still contemplating an iPad purchase. If I didn't spend a bunch of money on alcohol/cigarettes throughout the year I could have afforded it more comfortably (I'd rather save for a rainy day). My car is paid off, I rent a 2 bedroom apartment with a roommate, and I don't have any mortgage or any kids. Someone that makes twice as much as me might struggle to buy an iPad, if they have a house or a child or a car payment -- it all depends on what sort of financial commitments you've already gotten yourself in.

In case you were wondering if it's a good idea for a small box retailer to open at midnight to sell shoes with no competition around...the answer is no.

Down 50% to sales so far today. Awful business decision.

Just made my final Black Friday purchases. I got a peacoat at Macy's and three more shirts at Express. I tried everything on in the store, but I didn't end up buying it there because the lines at both places were like Space Mountain on Labor Day. Instead I just ordered everything online.

I made a ton of money betting on Barack Obama to win re-election.

I have been selling old games left and right. They just happened to turn into black friday funds!

Little did the people buying my Diablo III items know that they were buying my Mother a Keurig, my GF a Kindle, and my Father.......who the hell knows what he wants. In any case, the money trickled down (or sideways. I refuse to believe that the wealthy are dumb enough to spend $250 on one item in Diablo III).

Opportunity costs. If you're an attorney/banker/highly paid professional who has a Diablo addiction, the time you spend not farming for some rare item is easily worth it.

I picked up one of the Dell 14z laptops for $300 for my mother. It's not a powerhouse or anything, but she's currently got a five year old Toshiba that wasn't even close to top-of-the-line when she bought it (it has Windows Vista Home Basic on it).

I think it'll be a massive upgrade for her.

Dell.com was a mess though. I was online at midnight when it went on sale, didn't get through the order process until 1:40AM.

Scored my $400 39" Samsung LED. For the money I just thought it was the best deal quality wise. Almost nabbed the big Samsung plasma but I'm paranoid of burn in.

Also got the $80 Roku box and a BluRay player. I'm all set. Only missed one item on my BF list from Walmart.

Half-price 1600 Microsoft point cards seemed to be no limit at my Target. I probably could have walked out of there with $1000 worth for $500 but stuck to 3 cards.
This post. This fucking post. Lol you influenced me and when I got there I bought 13 of the 16 or so cards I saw.

Everybody is so damn rude.
I said many "excuse me" and "pardon me" as I jumped around through crowds and stopped carts as I passed.

I saw two cards heading towards each other in a head on 0.05mph collision with no way of them dodging so I'm like f this and stopped them both as I passed between them.

When I was at Target the 1600 points cards weren't marked as $10, and rang up on the price checker as $20 so I didn't bother. I bought Xcom instead. I kind of regret it but it's hardly the end of the world.

I won a $100 gift card from Best Buy's Twitter contest and got quite a few things there: Kill Bill Volume 1 & 2 and Louie Season 2 on Blu-Ray, NFS: Most Wanted and Sleeping Dogs for 360, a 16 GB class 10 SDHC card for my 3DS and Dream Drop Distance and Fringe S4 for my partner.

I also got Brave for $13 at Kmart and a chain for my wedding ring at Kohl's for $20. Pretty good haul.

No real need to be worried nowadays. I've been fairly careless with my 2 year old Samsung plasma (occasionally I've left a paused video game screen on it for a few hours here/there) and have had no problems. Modern plasma tech seems to be miles ahead of where we started.

Everybody is so damn rude.

This is the worst part. It's not just the customers either, our store hasn't even opened yet and my fellow employees are already being snippy with each other. The holiday season really is the worst for human interaction, despite all the pandering to the ideas of family togetherness and good cheer.

People go nuts about the nitty-gritty details, but 99% of major-brand TV's are more than decent enough for most people's needs nowadays. I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if you like the picture you're getting.

Unrelated: Looks like nobody's doing a Nike Fuelband sale today. Feels bad man. That was the only thing on my list.

Seems like that 32" Samsung LED for $250 is going to be my fallback TV...will see if I can find a decent brand for a little cheaper.

Black Friday is usually when I make money. Last year I brought a few 360 and Panasonic cameras and Virgin Mobile Phones and took me a couple months to flip them on Amazon.

Not that thats a lot of money but whenever I do that my wife let me spend the profit on whatever toy I want to buy.

This year the deals are not as good so I only brought a ton of harddrives.

On a side note, it took me forever to get rip of the Panasonic mirrorless cameras with no profit. Thats when I am convinced people don't buy cheap interchangable lens cameras. They either buy expensive ones or P&S.

bitch I'm taking calls.
Is the current lightning deal of the Sandisk Extreme SSD a better deal than those $97 Kingston's? I haven't heard much about SanDisk.

EDIT: Nvm, just gonna wait for Monday, got hypnotized by the "lightning deal" label for a minute

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
I understand you're upset, but did you ask the salesperson when you talked to him if that was 299.00 before or after taxes. It's really all on you for not asking that question. You have no right to be upset considering there's taxes involved.

His mush mouth made the sound of 199.99 on the phone so the taxes were not the issue I had.

Bank Of America money transfer down. I know people have to be really salty about that. It's black friday.

it's actually a pretty good deal. Went in on the kingston 240GB earlier myself otherwise I'd be all in.

I just got off work early, I'm sick. We were understaffed. It wasn't so bad today, midnight releases for CoD are far, far worse. Our new employee got fired because he was too slow. I blame the manager for not properly training him, and making him work on Black Friday. We just hired him on tuesday, he was a hard worker and never complained either, and was polite and owned up to his mistakes. Manager didn't care, he said time was money and it's a sink or swim deal.

And yet our manager wonders why we're so understaffed.
