This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

Really? LOL... I would never get a mac for normal internet usage. But working with the application is pretty amazing on the Mac. :) Plus OSX being Unix based helps a lot for the work I am doing.
Yeah, the Unix/BSD base for OSX makes it more of a selling point for some than most people realize, especially for programming and the like. Trying to work Linux/FreeBSD on most hardware setups is still a pain in the ass.

Anybody's Vita ship yet? I ordered it with Saturday delivery at Noon PST and it hasn't moved out of shipping soon status.

I have the one in the second link. It's a bit bulky but it protects the system fairly well and you can fit several retail games in it as well. There are only 4 slots for the games, but you can pile in 3 games per slot. Also a couple of pockets for accessories, like a soft cloth or whatnot. I like it.

If anyone just got a Vita two things you must get:

- Hori screen protector
- Hori grip

You can thank me later!
Hdvuc.jpg
is what I am going to be using as a screen protector as apparently it is one lol

Stop complaining about memory and just buy a card. Apple charges 100 dollars to upgrade 16 gb of storage.

Didn't buy Apple memory for my iPhone or iPad and haven't needed it quite frankly. I'm not buying Sony memory for my Vita. I'll make due with 4 gigs which quite frankly should have been onboard from launch.

Ya, let me know what you think of it. I probably won't have my vita for a little bit yet with the shipping from amazon so you'll probably get the case before my vita.

Edit: Ya, that official one I don't like. It feels too exposed around the edges and will get messed up it feels like just having that.

Will do. Yeah, i didn't really know it was this flimsy otherwise I would've gotten something else. However, if that plastic case I picked up works with this one, it might be kinda nice.

This was actually the best time to jump on board. Even if they dropped the price of the system to $150 tomorrow (they won't) it's still not as good a deal as this was.

I may never jump on board. It's something I can live without perfectly. Don't get me wrong, I love the console sony did, it just doesn't quite have what I need yet.

Also 190€ for me, after shipping and the chance of not getting back the deposit. 157€ if everything went right.

No battle royale and the chance of having warranty problems being overseas were my buyer remorse, mostly.

If you own an iPhone or iPad you certainly bought overpriced storage for it. It's not optional.

So anyone else order this and pay the extra for Saturday delivery? Did yours ship yet if you did?

Late response, but I payed the extra for Saturday delivery and no it hasn't shipped yet. Well at least it says that.

That's normal in case you're wondering, doesn't mean it won't get there on Saturday.

If for whatever reason it doesn't you can also complain to Amazon, they usually give you something like credit.

2. It is alarming it took 5 hours for this thing to tell out when most amazon BF deals are gone in seconds.
3. I am noticing a ton of almost cult like people on here regarding the Vita. What gives? You guys bash people for having an issue people like myself stating the obvious that the sales of the system have been bad, and that a great deal like this should have been gone in minutes, but give no real reason other than say its the best handheld ever. I am stoked to get mine, but what is with this super defensive attitude?

Well, first of all the opposing attitude that you have hinted at yourself doesn't help things. Like, what is it with this "it is alarming it took 5 hours" thing? How are you alarmed? You called it, and kudos to you for it.

Second of all, people are defensive because first and foremost they enjoy the system, and most of them know it's in trouble, and therefore want to "defend it" in hopes they may in some small contribute to it having a better shot, sticking around longer, and thereby continue to bring them joy.

But more significant, in my opinion, is that it's a knee-jerk reaction to the snide, snarky, schadenfreude nature of the internet, and GAF in general, which is only exacerbated by the Vita's failing lifeline. There are a ton of people on GAF who seem just giddy to have the Vita flounder, who honestly seem to be happy about it. When this happened with the PS3, Sony was just finishing up with the most successful console ever, and it was pretty easy to predict that the PS3 would eventually find a path, even if not as impressive as its predecessor. But the Vita's future is far less certain — and if it is certain, it's gloomy — and to have people apparently joyous over that rubs happy-Vita-owners the wrong way.

Ah, I see.

So, at the very least, the new Vita folk have plenty of time to snag the 6 free games. They won't be expiring this year, I'm sure (perhaps some 3rd party titles may, though).

I predict Sony will keep this rotation much simpler, and keep the overall Vita Plus library to six and switch one game every month. Take out Jet Set next month, replace it with Escape Plan... Wipeout the next, replace it with Hot Shots, etc.

Then again, I never would have predicted Vita Plus would come at no extra charge to current Plus subscribers. I'm still baffled by it: How the hell is Sony making money from this? When are they going to raise the price of this thing? If it had been me, I would have raised PS Plus to sixty bucks a while ago, then said that Vita Plus was thirty, but if you are an existing Plus member you get it for half off.

But what do I know? Nuffin, that's what!

That is stupid. Its like saying I'm overpaying for the OLED in the Vita.

This discussion is stupid. If you don't want to upgrade, don't. 4gb is part of every standard bundle now, so the "should have, could have" argument is moot. If you want more than 4gb, purchase more. It is no different than the 4gb SD card that the 3ds comes with. At least the option is there. There are other certain handheld devices that force you to purchase an entire other model if you want more storage.

Only difference though is I could replace it with 32 gigs for 20 bucks on the 3DS, and that cost is 4x as much on the Vita. Sony REALLY needs to drop their memory prices. Specially since it's the same shit just with a proprietary interface.

Awesome. The entire point is that the option is there, not that is might cost more than it's main competitor. It was a bad decision consumer wise to have proprietary memory, but there is nothing that can be done now outside of pricing the cards lower than may be financially viable.

Ya, if you have the plastic to cover the edges I think it should be fine if it's anything like the metal gear one I had on my psp.

I think it was mentioned that they will be doing two vita games a month and that gravity rush and uncharted will be sticking around for a long time, but it may have just been my fantasy and I am to lazy to read through the blog to figure it out lol.

As for how sony is making money well it all depends on how plus is done. If they do it as a flat rate for a game it actually wouldn't be that hard as the majority of the games are older titles that aren't selling well on psn anymore.

I mean lets assume there are 10k users that have ps plus (I am pretty sure it's more but lets go with that) and lets assume that they on average paid $4 per month (a year at $50 is a little more than that) thus you would have 40k per month to play with when it comes to deals and what not. So if they paid 20k for the big game giveaway, and 7.5k on each of the other two games and 5k on discounts they would break exactly even, which given the effect it is having on picking up systems/memory cards on people would still be a huge win for sony.

If they were losing money on it there is no way they would continue to add stuff to it like vita games for free, so it's obvious through their dealings they are at least breaking even, and quite frankly I think it's about perfect right now (I mean they could always add more and I wouldn't complain :P) as when your customer can't believe they aren't losing money on what you are offering you are doing something right.

What's stupid is ignoring the cost charged by Apple for their storage simply because you have less flexibility when purchasing it.

You are comparing the price of entry with upgrades so it makes no sense. It is so asinine I have no clue why I have even bothered to respond.

Huh, while I'm sure Plus is way more than 10k, you did some good deduction on this. You're probably right on how it works. All this time I was thinking "so, what, does Capcom only get like a dollar per download of RE5? Maybe $2?" But it is probably more of a flat rate, like you said. Just Sony writing a check.

... BUT WAIT! Jstevenson (Community Manager at Insomniac) had "joked" earlier this year for Plus members to download A4O. When people said "eh, I don't really want to play it," he chimed in with "I didn't say you had to play it. Just download it." (paraphrased)

I guess it could all be on a case-by-case basis...

yeah there is more than 10k people on plus I was just using a low example so no one could complain :P

but yeah I am not 100% sure how it works, but as I said I have no doubt that sony is at least breaking even on it. If they weren't plus on vita would have been something like $30 on its own for the year with a $20 upgrade fee on current subs to get both and a $70 a year sub for both. I just hope it continues to be solid as every day we inch towards next gen with plus being solid is a day less I worry sony will charge for online play next gen as they could just get by with plus.

more on topic... I hope my vita ships soon, but it seems like rather crappy two day shipping as in my email they estimate the 28th with 2 day shipping :(

I bought one earlier today and paid extra for Saturday shipping.

I went to Best Buy and picked up LittleBigPlanet for the Vita so I have something to play besides Assassin's Creed this weekend. Codes for PS+ and Allstars don't get e-mailed instantly. I figured I didn't need to pay the extra $9 for each other additional item shipped to me if I didn't have to and I'd shop around locally if I got impatient.

4gb is barely anything but I figure I can rotate titles in and out with the content manager. With Assassin's Creed, LittleBigPlanet, Playstation All-Stars, Playstation Plus, existing PS1/PSP games on my account from ages ago, I'll have more than enough to keep myself busy over the holidays. I can't forget homebrew either. I'm excited.

The other things I'm considering besides storage are possibly screen protectors, a case, and maybe an extended warranty.

how does the pc content manager work... i heard it was added with the 2.0 update but couldn't find any info on how to use it lol

I'm sure a lot of it has to do with promotions (Borderlands before Borderlands 2) and Sony just trying to get people more active in their ecosystem. Even if they break even on Plus, like you said they may be buying more systems, and going to the store more/making it a habit.

And yes, back on topic; all you Vita-bundle-buyers are in for real treat with your Plus code. Best thing to happen this entire gen.

mines coming wednesday
1 day shipping would have been here tuesday lol 0_o

whatever, i can wait i got games to play :D

I wonder if anyone would trade a physical copy of playstation battle all stars for my digital copy, hmmmmmmmm ;)

So I bit. It's going to be here Wednesday (same boat as Frisky, 1 day would have been Tuesday). I couldn't stop thinking about how many games I wanted to actually play were just included in the package.

So where do I get my robes for the cult?

The second door on the right, next to the Mountain Dew & Doritos.
