Giant Bomb Thread The Third: #TeamBrad

Was Jeff right about Syndicate? I've never seen such a positive opinion on it, here on gaf or anywhere else.

I think it's horrible. I couldn't get beyond one of the early boss fights (not so much a boss fight as a fight where you have to fight a bunch of generic soldier dudes at once).

I watched the stream to help me decide whether I should pick the game up on Amazon for $5 or not. I think I'm going to skip it - the multiplayer didn't look very fun.

Never really bothered with Giant Bomb much. Previous attempts to "get into it" made me feel rather bemused as to why they attract such a strong following.

However, I watched the Wii U stream the other day, listened to the most recent podcast and have watched a ton of other video content since and Giant Bomb is now the only gaming website other than GAF and Eurogamer I want to bother with.

Congratulations on the conversion. I'm going to get in first.

Persona 4 Endurance Run.

I had this moment about 1 year ago, though I ended up waiting till April to subscribe to it.

Reading Bumhead's post made me start thinking of stuff that I would point people who are new to GB towards and then I realized that there are just so many things that I wouldn't know where to start.

Completely unrelated: I haven't finished the last podcast yet but I think in the one before Jeff mentioned that he was going to go back and look through the box that I sent them for the note. I was just wondering if they found it yet.

I tried to imply that the Intellivison games were mostly for Jeff (obviously) because I basically wanted him to do what he did with Funky Barn with all those games.

I guess the only way I could really prove it was mine is I posted a thread in B/S/T a few months ago and there should be pics of all the PC stuff.

We still haven't heard anything about a Farcry 3 review right?

Considering it's shaping up to be one of the biggest release (FPS anyway) of the year I'm a bit surprised they haven't said anything. The embargo was lifted last week. I guess we'll get a quicklook this week at some point.

are they back today or is cyber-monday a holiday in america?

lol cyber monday is not a holiday.

(actually it is even barely a thing because it's the first day people are back from holiday. Back when good internet wasn't commonplace, people would do shopping online when they got back to work after the holiday. either way its a dumb fucking thing)

Aren't they on holiday? Maybe, they will talk about it whenever they come back and see that the rest of teh worl have moved on.

Cyber-Monday was/is a cynical ploy crafted by then-fledgling online retailers like a decade ago who wanted in on that Black Friday money. It has never been the busiest shopping day online ever.

One of us! One of us! One of us!

It starts off innocently enough though. A Quick Look here, Bombcast there. Then you move on to live streams. After that, you're watching weird alternate live streams. Next thing you know, you're watching them drive home from work and writing fan fiction.

We need a DARE for Giant Bomb.

Pretty much. It always is less than black friday, and really pointless since all of the online stores have black friday sales.

LOL I know this is an honest question but the idea of Americans taking Cyber Monday is hilarious to me, and I wouldn't be surprised. As a Canadian, I am a little bemused and jealous that they get a four day weekend for Thanksgiving, and their retail economy hinges on getting a full day off purely for shopping.

The shopping came about because people had the day off, not the other way around.

I had this moment yesterday in 999 with beating it the first time.
I'm somewhat perturbed by the total lack of an ending and that I'll need to fast forward through a bunch of text. Will I also need to remember which choices I made in my first playthrough so I can get to new content (presumably behind the other doors)?

Right, but as someone in the Thanksgiving thread said last week, America has actually moved the date of Thanksgiving itself because Black Friday sees better results if it's a week earlier. So take from that what you will.

Really? When did it get moved? As far as I know, it's always been the fourth Thursday of November since 1941, and that was WELL before Black Friday became a thing.

According to Wikipedia, American Thanksgiving was moved due to lobbying by shop owners in order to extend the Christmas shopping season:

Fred Lazarus, Jr., founder of the Federated Department Stores (later Macy's), is credited with convincing Roosevelt to push Thanksgiving to a week earlier to expand the shopping season, and within two years the change passed through Congress into law.
