THQ Humble Bundle is up (THQ needs your money lol)

If the point of the "THQ: 0" image was that he was giving all of his money to charity, you'd think the image would have been of the charity slider maxed instead.

As a developer I'd like to virtually slap each and every one of you little dipshits who does this.

When you're done, can you then line up the people who are spending their time seemingly gleefully stating this is the end of THQ, instead of commenting on how awesome this bundle is? Both for consumers and charity (and hopefully THQ).

I don't think I own a single THQ game

edit: nope, wait, I own:

G Darius (ps1)
Ghost in the Shell (ps1)

Neither were actually developed by them, but still.
Looking at their list, they sure published a lot of Spongebob and WWE titles.

Okay Exxy's got a good argument here: Humble was "meant" (argulable) to support the creators directly. This bundle supports a publisher instead. Though I don't know if he can actually cite that given the royalty deal for each of these games will differ.

Humble Bundle inc. just shot themselves in the foot. I don't know how much the rest of you know about indie games (I'm an expert), but credibility and elitism are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in XBOX 360 where you can become successful by being an a******. If you screw someone over in indie games, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the indie gamers, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Humble Bundles, nor will they purchase any of THQ's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Humble has alienated an entire market with this move.

Humble Bundle inc, publicly apologize and cancel the "humble" THQ publisher bundle or you can kiss your business goodbye.

You might be right.

Why are so many people complaining about these not being indie games? It's never been about promoting indie games as many of them were already pretty popular - Darwinia, Amnesia, Binding of Isaac, Trine, Braid, Bit Trip Beat etc. It's about raising money for charity.

I think Amazon Payments and Paypal take a big chunk of the total too (like they do with Kickstarter) - maybe around 20%

So, likely around $25K of the current total is stuck with them

I'm gonna go trade in my Darksiders 1 and 2 to get money so I can afford to buy PSABR. Then when hop on this deal by next week to get them back. Lol.

*slowclap*

Such a good meme

Will there be additional bonus games, lol darksiders2 lol? I already have saints row 3, so no need to beat the average at the moment...

Bought.

Good chance to get SR3 for a low price.

Gave all the cash to THQ, they really need it. Don't stop developing Darksiders games!

Sry to ask this here, but I don't want to open a thread just for this question

How do I add money to my PayPal account after I added a credit card?

You dont have to add money to your Paypal. Just login and pay, they will charge your cc.

You don't have to. You can just click the button on the HB site and log into PayPal from there and it'll pay through your card indirectly. There's a fee because it's PayPal, but you don't need to actually add any money yourself.

I think it's true that the spirit of the original HIB was to support developers directly. This is, of course, a very unusual Humble Bundle. Steam-only, Windows-only, and a corporate publisher. However, I think some context is required as well. We're dealing with a seriously ill publisher--there are probably developers who have participated in the Humble Bundle who are more well capitalized than THQ. So it's not, like, a corporate monolith by comparison. I guess the debate is more about whether or not HIB is at least partially a refutation of the publisher model? I think a lot of indie developers view it that way, but a lot of customers probably don't feel so strongly.

I do think there's a legitimate debate to be had. I don't think this opens the door to Humble Bundle EA next week. I don't think it undermines previous work by Humble Bundles to create a safe and viable business outlet for indies. I don't think it undermines the Humble Store. I don't think it makes them hypocrites. It might be a bad decision, but I think the extenuating circumstances are the reason why it happened.
