It's okay Patrick. I'll be playing Far Cry at 20 fps too. I was told AC had framerate troubles, but it was never that big of a problem for me.

Of course, that's because I was having so many other wonderful problems with that game.

One of my favorite features. I love how Jeff just tells it how it is. No sugar coating, no PR speak. Like that bit at the very end?

this feature was one of the major reasons i decided to subscribe and its because he gives his insights and just tells it how it is for him.

They are. I liked Jeff comment about a dude blogging from his bedroom, then he looks left, right and then down lol

that was hilarious and an excellent way to end the question.

Also in that last bit i wonder how many people were doing what he said to GB and how they have to basically change their tune due to the results.

That has to be a great feeling, especially if the amount against it was pretty much fucked

Dang, I hate how Jeff is able to point out things that should be completely obvious to me, but I never even considered. I'm glad it at least gets me thinking.

Great Jar Time.

edit: PATRICK PLAY BINARY DOMAIN.

I'm watching through the P4 Endurance Run, on part 08 now. The commentary by Jeff and Vinny is really funny, but why do people love this game? The writing is awful, the voice acting is cheesy, and what little gameplay there is seems to be standard JRPG sort of business.

You will learn to love this game.

Because there is a lot of player choice of what you do on a day to day basis in the game. The story is pretty interesting, endearing characters. The combat system/fusing personas is pretty fun and deep. Its a long game that is a great value.

"why do people love mario? There isn't a story, the voice acting is just bloops, and what little gameplay there is seems to be the standard platforming sort of business"

You can be reductive with any game, especially games you have yet to play. It is one of the best JRPGS ever made, no doubt about it.

For me, it is just a charming game, and you're either swayed by its charm, or not. And, as someone who hates JRPGs, anime, and whatnot, P4 never became annoying to me. There's no stupid talking animals (Fox doesn't talk), no dumb fantasy setting, and no long explanations for things. It is a lighthearted, charming romp.

Well, I've certainly no plans on playing it. But the Endurance Run does seem promising.

Edit: Holy shit. Earphones guy just beheaded that weird pinata thing. That was entertaining.

That was one of the best parts, because you can hear Jeff starting to air his frustrations with the game only to be immediately silenced and hooked on what was going on.

Gosh, you know... Maybe some like Japanese-style RPG gameplay. Who would've thought?

But saying this with less snark: I genuinely like the game because the UI is sleek and stylish, the game gets much better as you go on, the dungeons are creative in terms of thematic importance even if they're mazes which change each time you go in, Persona fusion is fun (and it's even better in P4G), the character growth through S.Links can at times be genuinely interesting to observe, a lot of the stuff that happens throughout the course of the story is entertaining (ex: that bear beheading that you mentioned), and man--there's a lot of shit to do in this game.

Sure, the One More/All-Out battle system isn't as cool as DDS/SMT's Press Turn, but it works and it allows the player to get a sense of friendship and camaraderie between characters even in-battle. It's something I've missed since the Genso Suikoden series' Combination Attacks/Unite Attacks, and I love that something like that exists in this game.

Well, that's not entirely true, there's a lot of dumb fantasy settings, but I had played Psychonauts a little before it so I was already used to that shit

Personally the turning point comes way in where you realise that Jeff and Vinny have, bizarrely, begun to give a shit about the story and characters. It's the best.

Just keep going, everything except the gameplay gets much better.

I absolutely can't stand JRPGs, but I bought P4 just because I knew it had a solid reputation. I had intentionally avoided watching the P4 endurance run before because I didn't want to spoil the game for myself.

One of the greatest games I've ever played. I had so much fun seeing the characters develop, the systems addressing many of the things I hate in standard jrpgs, and just have really enjoyable tone to it all. I would strongly encourage you to give it a chance, regardless of how you might currently see it.

So a couple of my good friends have been plugging away for a while building an iPhone trivia game based on Giant Bomb's API, and it's finally been released on the app store. Pulls stuff like random concepts, characters and screenshots for clues and allows you to create custom libraries based on their database. Dave had mentioned it a bit around PAX time, not sure if anyone remembers.

Anyways it's pretty fun and cheap and I want to give them a plug, so check it out!

Yea that was the best part and you still see/hear it when they talk about it. Hell the last discussion went to hardcore fan levels imo when Vinny claimed he might not play it due to Chie changing voice actors and Jeff also not feeling that change as much either.

I... I started watching more quick looks... Then listening to the podcasts... And then every other video on the site... Why can't I stop loving these guys!?

They have fun doing what they do and it's contagious. You've got the bug. You're infected like the rest of us, and this thread is our quarantine.

Has Jeff mentioned if Fary Cry 3's story takes the direction he was hoping it would?

I'm about halfway through the story and unless something significant happens at the end, then no the game is pretty self serious. I find it odd that the main character and his friends are so unlikable considering all the other NPCs are around them are pretty entertaining whenever they show up.

that's a bummer, gonna pass on this game. i feel like they missed a big opportunity

It's commentary on urban kids being assholes.

I'm not really sure what people are expecting out of Far Cry 3. The characters are clearly supposed to be assholes, it doesn't need to do much more than that to be commentary.

So you would have bought it if they elbowed you in the shoulder at the end and said ,'eh? eh?'

same people who thought Saint's Row 3 was better than 2. That it needs to be blatantly obvious, I guess.

Not really what I was looking for. Mostly seeing if there was a crazy twist or something, like their parents set it up because they were sick of them spending all their money. Or something outrageous like that.
