This Vita bundle is insane... (Vita, mem card, AssCreed $179.99 WOW)

Something will probably pop up again closer to Christmas. Maybe Persona 4 will go on sale, too.

I hope so...the only thing that gave me pause about this bundle was the small 4gb memory card. I'd rather have a bundle without Playstation Allstars and with a bigger memory card.

I am banking on this. If I see this Assassins Creed bundle back at or below $200, Sony can have my money. The only thing keeping me from buying it at it's full price is lack of adequate funds/source of income (due to student status).

Any Aussies chose express international shipping? Mine was meant to arrive yesterday but now no tracking information available anymore and i havent had a tracking update in 3 days. =(

Eh, wouldn't count on that given that ridiculous 4GB bundle Sony just announced. They're doing everything in their power to get rid of inventory and force users to buy larger capacity cards.

If I were a student lacking funds, the Vita would be very low on my buy list, if it registered at all. I wouldn't bother unless you can name 3 games that you MUST play that have a lot of replay value. There's absolutely no harm in waiting for the user base to grow and for the library to improve. Chase some tail, that's free and more rewarding.

I'm Canadian and chose expedited shipping (the second-fastest). It took 3 days for the tracker to tell me that my Vita moved from Kansas to Illinois. DHL is easily the most incompetent courier I've ever dealt with, so my guess is that I'll receive it before the status updates to "delivered".

You can use content manager and switch out stuff. You can get by with smaller card. Nobody really cares what it would take for you to bother.

You can get a lot o cheap protectors on Amazon that do the job and fairly well. I got like a dozen for 3 bucks and half of them were specifically made to fit the front and back of the Vita.

I don't see it on amazon... I bought the screen protector at walmart for $10. I overpaid didn't I? Damn it

I ordered on Friday but it didn't actually get to shipped status till Monday. According to the tracking info it's arrived in Melbourne and out for delivery to my place today.

I'm well aware - that's exactly what I'll be doing because I simply won't pay what Sony's asking for larger capacity cards. You have to acknowledge that needing to delete games and/or transfer them to the Vita from the PS3 would get pretty annoying after a while, especially given the quality of the free digital games that come with this promotion. Just because you and I are willing to deal with it doesn't make the inclusion of the 4GB card in the $299 bundle any less asinine.

You cared enough to respond to a reply that wasn't directed at you. Try to be less transparent.

Who said it was free!? I kid, I kid
kind of...movie, dinner, and drinks are expensive

But seriously I techincally have the 'extra' money, it's just about trying to get as good a deal as possible as I am don't have an current source for income.

Besides, my family decided we are not going to exchange gifts, but instead buy for ourselves, so it would be a nice xmas present...

Haha, it's not "free" exactly, but there's a lot you can do for very little money as a poor college student. But yeah, if it's essentially a self-gift that you'll be reimbursed for, you're golden. I'd rest easy, this sale has been a positive for the Vita and Sony will probably offer something very similar in the weeks leading up to Christmas...

That's probably worth a new thread, that's a great deal for anyone who regrets passing on the BF deals.

... or you could buy this. Doesn't come with the PS+, though. And it comes in black.

Hopefully. If not, I at least can have the hope that this is encouragement for future support/success of the system.

It seems like a powerful system that has a lot of potential if customers/developers decide to invest in it. Then when I graduate in the spring and make bank I Sony can take even more $$ from me.

Edit: Wow, that is very tempting. Unfortunately I have my heart set on the white one, that thing is sexy.

I do have one question though, is there any physical difference between the 3g and wifi versions? I thought I read the 3g was bulkier, and I wouldn't plan on getting the data plan...

I want the platform to succeed, too. On paper, a portable PS2.5 is a winner. It's a capable machine, but unfortunately with the shrinking market for dedicated portables, devs and publishers are looking at iOS/Android a lot harder. It's a shame, since phone/tablet gaming is such a crippled experience regardless of the graphical leap with each iteration of mobile GPUs.

Get on it people. It's a well known fact that Vita owners are 60% more fertile and 12% taller than non-Vita owners. Also, you get preferential seating in certain restaurants and sporting venues.

Double these figures for each additional Apple device you own, and subtract 5,000,000 for each Nintendo device.

I'm highly tempted for the Persona 4 Skin that came from the Persona 4 game, it seems like a nice protector from the outside of the screen and it is kind of decorative for the system, is it worth?

It doesn't really match the white Vita imo. That's why I ordered a Hori screen protector

Looks incredibly slick on a black one however

The 3G version is very slightly heavier.

The Hori screen protector is excellent. Protects the entire front of the Vita. Easy to install if you know what you are doing. There are some videos online that show the process much better than the instruction sheet.

Mine shipped Monday as well, and i finally got a tracking update. Scheduled to be delivered on Monday next week now..

UPS tracking is whack.

I just watched a video and still feels like a headache. I'm hoping it goes well when my hori protector comes tomorrow.

Recieved mine yesterday. Tracking info was out of whack, though it did arrive within the estimated date.

I just followed along with this video and I got it on flawlessly. You wouldn't know it's on there unless I told you! Also helps if the Vita is "fresh out of the box". You can do it!

Well it's not fresh out of the box since the bastards in this thread told me to play it while I waited on it to ship to me. ;b

That was the video I watched before too, I'm just worried about the sides more than anything but at least it seems that comes off in a different sheet than the middle section.

Ah! I see! >_< Well try running a shower and make your bathroom nice and misty. That will help in keeping any dust away. Just be very thorough with wiping down your unit. It may take some time, but be patient as the end result will hopefully be more than worth it! As for the side tabs, they are actually underneath the blue film so while it will feel weird to pull from underneath what's on top, just go with it and use the paper to push the bubbles away. I actually had to undo the top flap because I was concerned that the filter wasn't lining up right with the buttons, but went along as I got it the best I could, and in the end, it was pretty much flawless!

Edit: Man, someone stick a "Has the last say" tag on me already. A murderer of topics I am.

I ordered some Goja microfiber cloths last night from Amazon for the Vita, and all my other screens.

My Vita came this morning, but there was no receipt in the box, which was a little weird.

assuming you know but you can print old invoices from your account if you need one.

The protector actually came out decent, only one speck underneath. I thought someone said hori protectors also came with a protector for the rear pad? Not a biggie, just thought someone said that.

Gaf, you're really not going to let me forget that I passed on that deal. I'm only willing to get that white vita, so I guess I'll have to wait until the bundle drops again.

Is the Hori PS Vita Elite pack that is on amazon for like 17 bucks worth it if I need a screen protector and a pouch? Or should I go for something else

Mine went on without a hitch. No bubbles at all. Just make sure you line it up properly before you start peeling the backing. Take your time and make sure your Vita is clean.

This is the video I watched. Helped immensely. And yes, the Hori protector is the best I've ever seen. It really is virtually invisible.

Bleh, the little cloth thing hori gives you to clean the screen is ass. Never going to get this screen clean. :/

Oh yeah, get yourself a good microfiber cleaning cloth. That POS Hori provided is worthless.

I'd recommend this for the screen protector. It's what I have, and it covers the entire front of the Vita, not just the screen. You can't tell it's there when installed.

The hori screen protector is clear right? The white vita still look sexy?

Still sexy as ever. Maybe even sexier, as it gives the Vita even more gloss. I would post a pic but my Blackberry camera sucks.

Here's a pic taken with my webcam.

Ya, I wound up using a clean undershirt since it worked better than the PoS cloth they gave me. The rest of it is surprisingly nice. Least amount of bubbles and dust of any screen protector yet surprisingly.

This is mine after putting it on, it doesn't even look like I have a protector on:

Mine finally arrived, and I my impression is that the hardware is solid, but still plasticky, it's not as nice to hold as an Apple product, for example. Also, I really hate the OS and software. The basic concept is OK, but there is far too much needless clicking and screens to get through.

Finally, while Uncharted seems like a very good and fun game from what I've played, jeez does the whole presentation suffer from not being native res. AC:lib has the same problem, but because the HUD and GUI are native, it looks much more tolerable. The blocky, chunky menus and icons really take a lot away from the game for me.

I'm forced to agree. AC: Liberation has some good art assets, but it's an ugly fucking game on the Vita. The jaggies, muddy textures, texture pop-in, model and environment pop-in, weird glitches, low frame-rate, and rough animations make it look like they are just pushing the system too hard. I suppose it's impressive that something on that scale is running on a portable device at all, but I would have liked it more if they made a game that actually took the hardware specs into consideration.

I much prefer a clean image quality like what you see in stuff like Shinobido.

That's the one, did you try to remove it and put it back in incase it detected it wrong?

I did. Turned the system off, removed the card, put it back in, loaded up again. Nothing. I've already gone ahead and printed out my return labels. They're only reimbursing me $15 for shipping, so I'm hoping it costs less than that to ship back. I'll hit up the EB and see if they have a spare memory card handy, in case it's the memory card and not the slot itself that's faulty.

What a disappointment.

Try inserting it when the system is on for curiosity. I've only inserted it while it was already on.

It's what I did the first time. It shouldn't matter either way; if the system can't detect that there's something in it at boot, something is wrong. I appreciate your help, though.
