College Football Week 14 - Conference Championship Games and Pseudo Championships

The problem was they were banking on FSU and Miami making the game every year. If both didn't become irrelevant after expansion, the game could have done well

It's true, the football "powers" have not held up their end of the bargain in this expanded ACC. That is what makes their rumored unhappiness a bit comical.

It's true.

Born and lived in Tampa the majority of my life. The amount of Bucs, Rays, and Lightning games I've attended is pathetic. I mean, I love and follow my teams just as much as the next sports fan, there's just no will to actually go to the games.

The Trop (where the Rays play) is in the middle of the St. Pete ghetto, the Lightning play in the middle of downtown Tampa, and the Bucs actually aren't too bad. The location of all three venues are garbage and a bitch to get to.

I still think it was a stupid call. You miss that conversion and Georgia spikes the ball and kicks a field goal for the win. Of course whenever you do a stupid call that works you are a genius.

If we missed the 2 pointer, I'd like to believe that we wouldn't have been in the prevent like we were, but I really can't say that for sure. The coaching staff really astounded me in their stupidity several times in the game.

My uncle lives in Tampa, and we went to see a Rays game. Tropicana is easily the worst stadium I have ever been in.

It would have been nice if the non-traditional powers could have won on a big stage while we were sucking though. Other teams always step up in the other conferences :\

Congrats SkiesofWonder, Tennessee holds onto the #2 ranking in all time conference championships!

Alabama now .500 in SECCG!

You should go to a jags game if you think the tampa games are bad

my family flew in from Chicago for the Bears/Jags game this year since that is cheaper than going to a Bears home game. The Jags actually removed some tarp since it was technically a Bears home game

Dang Nebraska, you should check if that player's ankles are broken.

That game will lead to self cutting, if you start thinking of the gamechanging factors.

What if:
Alabama got that fake punt snap off
Saban had called timeouts before halftime, leaving 4 points off the board
That h2h flag on McCarron not been called? That could have been 3 points there, instead of an INT in the endzone resulting in no points.
Punting instead of that field goal block (or just put in Shelley, cause to me Foster kicked it right into the line)

Don't want to think about it...

350 rushing yards, and it took THAT to win...

Thank Jebus you came to Alabama, Amari Cooper.

I completely agree. The ACC's record in BCS games is abhorrent, as is their record in recent years versus other conferences during the regular season. It's pathetic. But for these teams to be mediocre and then to (allegedly) be unhappy with the mediocrity of ACC football (and, therefore, television revenue), is absurd. If the traditional football teams were nationally competitive, the league as a whole would have benefited. The traditional basketball schools are simply not going to carry the league, although they might be competitive here and there. That doesn't excuse those schools from also being basically terrible out of conference. There's enough blame to go around.
