Most projections for the last few weeks had Michigan in the Capital One, then I saw a comment that they can't pick them now. Anyone got a link to the bowl selection rules governing this?

Edit: Found a link. Mich is two games behind Neb, an since they're not going to the BCS, only the NU twins are eligible. Curse you Pelini!

Oklahoma is one of the rare schools to make money on it. win-win ;) Just in terms of playing a game, OU-Florida and OU-Georgia isn't any sort of downgrade, but OU plays in the Cotton Bowl all the time.

And as much as everyone loves it when the little guy makes it in, no one will watch that game. Orange Bowl is now an awful game, which kind of sucks as a CFB fan

All I know is, with Wisconsin winning the B1G, it screwed it all up.

Think its between Nebraska and NW (or NU, whatever it is). I'd hope it's Nebraska, but really, not sure there's a B1G team this year that's is a good matchup for a good SEC team (besides Ohio State)

The Orange Bowl is usually an awful game regardless. Other good matchups will be prevented too. Everyone knows Oregon/Florida would be great. But do you think Fiesta is going to let that happen? They're going to take Oregon vs. K-State all day long.

Then you have the shittastic Rose Bowl this season too.

The BCS conferences along with their TV partners have fucked over so many teams and other conferences. My salt runs deep to the point I don't even care if some of these games get absolute shit matchups if it means them losing money and getting shit ratings.
 
Well it's all dependent on the Aggies getting picked for CapOne. They could still take UGA, so a Cotton Bowl match up with OU/Texas wouldn't be terrible. The OU game might actually be good, and crushing the sips is always cathartic.

I think it's going to be Nebraska, just on the travels-well status alone. And the fact that so many NW seats were sold to Nebraska fans for their game this year at home probably doesn't do them any favors in a tiebreaker.

If A&M goes to the Capital One then there's also the bonus buff of Nebraska playing against a former Big 12 opponent.
 
The huskers went from being able to compete with OU and Texas to being crushed by The OSU and the Badgers.

Guess that's what happens when you go from playing with boys to playing with men, huh?
 
I'm just hoping that NIU doesn't get a BCS bowl. Would screw basically everybody in the Big XII except for KSU if they did.

OU is a lock for the Cotton if they miss the BCS. Sucks for A&M if they have to play NW again, but then it's hard to get excited about them playing OU again. Playing Michigan would have been fun

@goldeneye the more you look at it, yeah there are lots of shitty games. I have no problem with KSU-Oregon but I understand that KSU doesn't really move the needle

You really think that way? I think names like Heart of Dallas are a thousand times better than some random brand name. I'll take Heart of Dallas, Music City, Pinstripe, etc. over Continental Tire, Kraft, Meineke Car Care, Little Caesar's, etc. any day of the week.
 
The final regular season sagarin ratings (w/ change from last week). Unfortunately, I didn't get a snapshot for folks not in the top 25 BCS, so I don't have entries for some teams, the most important of which is NIU. They still won't get any points from Sagarin, but I don't know how much lower than 34th they were last week.

For those thinking Georgia could or should finish above Florida, it's not gonna happen. And IMO, it shouldn't happen. Yes, they won head to head and yes, they had an extra opportunity to lose, but when you look at their schedule, the Florida game was the ONLY good win they had. Otherwise, they have 0 quality wins and you have to consider the blowout against South Carolina even with the game they played last night.

I call the Heart of Dallas Bowl the Real Cotton Bowl because it's actually played in the Cotton Bowl. The current Cotton Bowl should be called the Jerry's New Year Invitational Bowl.

Did they just ignore the ref signalling the play down when they reviewed this? It's almost as bad as the Redskins game a few weeks ago when a ref blew the play dead and the receiver kept running for a TD, and the refs looked at it and essentially said "LOL whistle? What whistle?"

The player, man, the player! The reason you never see guys do that is because it's really risky--if he screws it up, that could easily be UCF ball.

Amazing. The "every play gets reviewed" mantra that we hear about every game continues to be complete nonsense. Meanwhile, we'll actually stop the game to review plays that are completely obvious calls, and not even look at plays like this. It's inexcusable and makes this replay system look like a sham.

The payout for the BCS games last year was $18 million... That vs say $1-1.5M for a bowl for a midmajor conference... It's split across the entire conference, but the school doesn't have to "promise" a certain turnout which is usually what sinks teams going to the bigger bowls.

Got some changes, involving USCe and LSU. LSU to the outback to face Nebraska, USCe to the Gator to face Michigan, and Vandy getting the Peach Bowl to face Clemson. Bad time to be a Vandy Plantation Commodore guy thing.

Actually it was a brilliant move by the return man. When UCF touches the ball, it's an "illegal touching" penalty (for no yards). Whatever happens after that, the worst that could happen is getting the ball at that spot. It's along the same lines as taking a shot downfield when the defense jumps offside.

Hm? The ball was live. The returner could have muffed it and UCF would have a chance at possession.

Wait, really? I've never heard this before. So if he muffs it and UCF grabs it, it's still Tulsa ball?

Oh, not clear on the rule. The announcers were saying it was a live ball. But they really didn't expand on the what ifs. If so, good special teams coaching on Tulsa's part.
