During the play, ball is 5 yards from Murray, and he's playing defense in that situation. Nope, nope, nope.
Helmet to helmet, especially on a QB should always be called. If it wasn't that it was a block in the back call. Take your pick. Also, that helmet to helmet call on mccarron was bullshit. He was hit with the pads on the helmet.

Right after he threw the ball, that's always going to be roughing the passer.

These past couple weekends have been so interesting. I've never even really been a football guy, let alone college level, but with NIU being in the mix I've fairweathered myself into following all this BCS stuff, and it's pretty sweet. The whole rankings thing is an interesting way of doing things, and I never realized how much there was behind all of it. I'm guessing NCAA basketball is similar, so I'll keep that in mind.

tldr; this stuff is pretty cool, and I might seriously start following it from now on.

Welcome. Stick around and you'll find we're a friendly group unless you're a Notre Dame fan. :p

More like 10, but yes, he was dawdling his way towards the ball, so I think it is clean, although I would not have been shocked because QB. Good no call, though.

Yeah. You can give a love tap to the helmet of the qb and draw that flag. I'm always worried when guys decide to be all chummy and give the opponent a slap on the helmet, afraid it will draw a flag.

And on the UCF thing. I think it is a dumb rule, and if my google-fu is correct, it is apparently different in the NFL. But it is a good thing for special teams players to learn, especially on plays where they might swat the ball forward from the goal line. Almost no risk. Although I guess in the case of a swat forward from the 1, if you fumbled the ball after picking it up, say on the 8 you would lose 7 yards. So slight risk.

LOLklahoma. Come on LOLsville. Don't get any better despite having a month off. I dare you.

Remember back when the BCS games had BCS conference teams in it? It's hard to, but I think it used to happen every year.

BCS and Fiesta Bowl are the only good matchups, and the Rose has 2 similar teams with ok names. But those other 2...

At least the Sugar Bowl is a Florida versus ex-DC Charlie Strong.

What terrible matchups

I think they are okay. Ohio State and Oregon have only themselves to blame for ruining the Rose Bowl, but in Oregon's case it led to a better matchup for them. Although they wouldn't be in the Rose Bowl if they hadn't goofed, so whatever.

Orange Bowl was going to be shit anyways. It always is. FSU should be able to get a win for the ACC against a coachless team that shouldn't be there before they bail.

LOLsville shouldn't be there either, but there is some drama with Strong facing Florida where he might have coached if he had been given a fair shot.
Also, it means Oklahoma got screwed, which is always good.

ND earned it by not losing. They either prove me wrong or get steamrolled. Latter is preferred, but former gets me to shut up about it for an off season. Before they sort of join the ACC and I can bitch about how they should have sort of joined a real conference.

KSU-Oregon should be the best. Can Oregon finally overcome their prep-time difficulties?

Love how terrible the BCS is this year. Hope money is at an all time low so the powers in charge can see what fucking bullshit the whole thing is.

If there was a solid B1G team, the Cap One would be fine. That's not the case.

I'd say LSU to cotton (so LSU/OU?) and guess that A&M/Clemson Peach Bowl is gonna happen.

Beat writers and some espn guys are saying capital one but I'd love for them to be wrong.

I meant LSU. Georgia on the mind.

aTm makes sense for money, drama purposes, depending on who they get matched with in the Cotton Bowl. aTm Texas perhaps?

Don't know if it is actually possible.

Exactly. We get to beat the shit out of Nebraska? Big deal. I'd rather play a decent team. I guess Texas isn't much better. Since we won't get the Sugar, I'd love to play Clemson.

Unsourced reports say the Big12 doesn't want A&M in the cotton bowl. Take that as you will.

Shocking! But they are good, will draw a crowd, and have a potential Heisman winner. Texas-aTm matchup screams TV ratings. The Longhorn Network doesn't like those, so will fight hard to prevent it.

An 8-5 team in the Rose. Another SEC-BEAST roflstomp in the Sugar. And a mid-major that just lost their coach and somehow squeaked in, in the Orange.

Uuuuugh.

Orange Bowl will always suck. Although I guess occasionally there is a situation like last year where fans will want to show up to watch their team suck. They still had a ton of tickets to give away last year, though.

LOL I don't really have a preference, but after seeing Stoops' vote, I don't feel bad about this at all.

EDIT: Tuberville voted Bama #1? hahaha

Yeah I think LSU is Chik Fil A? Is that the same as the Peach? A&M should be Cotton. Matchup with Texas is probably what they're going for there.

I hope some of these rumored matchups change, because this is one of the worst years I can remember outside of the MNC.

Yeah, they are the same. I have no knowledge of this. I don't know the selection rules, and obviously those are flexible. This is just a rumor from yesterday I believe. And the games yesterday may have changed that. But I don't see how the SEC or much else is different. Despite being close, yesterday went pretty much exactly as expected.

Well, he sure as hell doesn't like Auburn, so why not? Same as last year, ND earned their number 1 spot, like LSU did. But I think Bama is better.

I call it the Peach Bowl because:
I remember when it was the Peach Bowl
I always find a way to misspell Chik Fil A. Or is that Chick Fil A? Do the hyphens have to be included?

Well, at least UGA will get a little bit more money, think Cap One is the highest purse of the non BCS games.

Imagine all the fumbles! All dat Taylor Martinez against your D. Can you beat Wisconsin in total points scored? Probably not, but it is worth a shot.
I just hate being in the same bowl every year. Beating Nebraska doesn't prove anything either. At least it's a "good" non-BCS bowl?

We'd never beat Wisconsin in points scored since Mark Richt would pull the starters when they get to 35.
