Vita PSN Game And Service Thread

I completely missed that Killzone announcement. Every time I've seen a KZ video linked I've assumed it's the remote play and not bothered checking it out. :o

Near is a bit "cheating" since it leaves traces for longer time while streetpass i think is only people with 3DS at the same time as you are in that area.

Near shows you who lives near you, not just the ones you met. It's a completely different approach to the social gaming. They're both good but Near is more "social", it makes you meet people that usually play in your city for example and makes a log of their activity that can be commented. It's a great idea

I noticed quite a few more people in my area having a Vita now. Guess that was the Black friday/Cyber monday influence.

On another note: Anyone know whether its possible to get rid of the "Friend is online" messages? You can only deactivate the button light, on screen prompt etc but I dont want them to turn up in the upper right corner notification bar, or at least not have them an "active" notification where it gives me a number on that notification bar if a friend comes online.

10/10

Noooooo I took a screenshot of Kat in a towel during a cutscene and it didn't register. Just ended up skipping the cut scene with no screenshot. FML. ~_~

Always press and hold the home button before pressing Start. I used to try it simultaneously and ended with the same results. You can hold the home button for a couple of seconds before the Quick Settings screen pops up.

I'm wondering if I have two months left on my PS plus subscription and I buy another 3 month subscription (with the discounted price) will I have 5 months or just 3?

Has anyone used the portable charger, and if so what are your opinions of it?

I've got about 18 hours of flights coming up to get home for Christmas and back and I'd like to be able to game for an entire 7+ hour flight.

Random aside, playing a psp or PS1 game increases the playtime drastically as well. Just in case you dont end up buying an accessory.

That's true, but I'd rather play PASBR, CoD, or even Uncharted since I missed the boat on that one until PSPlus forced me to play it.

Just finished Virtue's Last Reward 100% this morning. Awesome stuff. Been cooped in my room all weekend playing it pretty much nonstop. I think my younger sister got worried if I was okay!

Ugh, why did it increase? I had $20 credit I was thinking about using toward it but $50/$60 is my limit.

It was never down at 50/60$, lowest normal price was 80$.

Edit: Ah you meant 50/60 + the 20 credit probably. Still the 32gb memcard purchase was definitely worth it.

I am actually! I was hoping the patch for AC: Liberation would be out by now. But since it's not, gonna switch the Vita to her account now. That way I can play some of her PSP games as well.

It was pretty funny though. She kept asking me if I needed anything or if I wanted some food or something. It took a while till I clocked on that she was worried if I was feeling okay. Feel kinda guilty now...

Wow the price increased like crazy. It was $19 not too long ago.

I have one and with it you can easily use 7+ hrs. PSP games or P4G you can easily get 10+.

That is soooo cute of your sis, haha.

How does it work? Do you plug it in and play, or do you let it charge your vita up? The reason I ask is that my Vita tends to take 2-3 hours to fully charge once I've received the "Battery is Low" message and if I have to wait on it to charge then it might not be the solution I'm looking for.

Seems like that will fit your needs to be honest.

Anyways, finally played around with my system a bit. I put on the screen protector but a bubble stayed there and was bugging me, I tried to fix it and now I have 3 bubbles and one major one in the low left corner of the screen :/ I'll leave it there until I sell it though, the screen is well protected and will have no scratches.

Here are my impressions:

Pros:
  • OS is responsive, haven't had an issue where I touched something and it didn't respond or touched something and something else comes up like happens on my LG Rumor (worst phone ever)
  • Not sure how it was prior to 2.0 but the browser seems competent
  • The email app is pretty easy to set up. Though of course, not importing contacts is a downer
  • The map app is ok. Found exactly where I was. Needs to be faster though
  • I like the fact that you can change the panel on your name whereas on the PS3 you can only change your avatar (AFAIK). That’s a plus, but I don’t think that shows on the PS3 which kinda sucks, why can’t it show everywhere like the avatar?

Cons:
  • OS needs work in order to get to iOS/android level. Lack of folders and orientation are things I miss
  • App store is LOL. Still no crackle, no hulu plus, no ESPN, etc that was promised at E3
  • PSN store also seemed too slow for me
  • PSMobile seems good on paper, but the prices and lack of psn integration is off putting. Plus the app section is even worse than the main vita one (total of one music app)
  • No comic store. The one for psp was good and I read some comics there, but the psp screen and lack of touch input made the navigation a little awkward. Not sure why they haven’t brought the comic/manga store to US/EU vitas yet, as well as their e-book/newspaper store but this needs to happen sooner rather than later.
  • Couldn’t connect with WPA security, so changed it to WEP which kinda blows
  • Everything needed the MC to be in there. Really, everything. Sony needs to release a new model with built in 16GBs of memory. They will still make money on MCs as people will buy extras.
  • Near confused me

Haven't played any games yet. Will download PSABR and start playing that and ACIII:Liberation soonish. Overall I'm pleased with the system though there is a LOT of work to be done by sony, not sure scej can do it by themselves, they should allow scea and scee to help out.

Also, how do I check for dead pixels?

It acts like external battery. Basically you charge it up separately using your vita charger, and then when your vita says 'omg i need battery power stat!', you plug your vita to this little baby for extra juice. (you need vita cable)

or you can just plug in your vita to this whenever you feel like it needs charging. it works either way.

also it can charge your ipad2,3,4! it has 1.5A which is pretty decent.

Sounds nice but 46$ is just too expensive.

I have one from New Trent - 7000mah but they do 9-10,000mah ones too. If you get a galaxy tab USB adapter (think it comes included in the 9900), that'll convert the USB so it charges the vita.

and they usually have 2A sockets for ipad charging too.

No problem bro.

Although you might also want to search for 10000mah ones too, but it needs to have at least 1.0A output for vita.

The problem is a lot of chinese third party ones have really shitty battery life expectancy (they die within like, what, less than 2 months?). I just can't trust no name brand chinese batteries.

I agree. I got it when it was $19. Totally worth it for my travels.

Never used new trent. I saw few of them goes on sale for ~$30 for 10,000mah, so if they are good, then I guess go for it. You probably would never have to worry about battery life on vita ever with 10,000mah. lol.
