DJMAX Technika tune (Vita) Features music from KARA.

Question:

Is the physical release even going to be sold at normal stores. Y'know, like the Amazons? Or is this gonna be one of those weird things where it's only sold direct from Pentavision? The stupid $50 price tag says to me that it's the latter...

It sounds like they've been in contact with retailers about carrying it but no one actually ordered any. Amazon is possible but at this point it would be after the game's release.

Yeah, I'm still going to wait until Amazon/Newegg list it. They've already delayed the game six weeks; I can wait a little more.

I saw on the blog that this game is 50 bucks? Is that true? That's a joke if so.

As stated just last page, it's $50 retail, $45 digital.

They managed full parity with the Korean and Japanese releases, which have expensive music licenses. Would you have been willing to have 1/4 of the songs removed from the game in exchange for a smaller price tag?

I'll tell you what I'm willing to do. I'm willing to laugh when this game bombs HARD.

How so? The people who want to play DJ Max are willing to pay the money for it, hell people payed way more for DJ MAX Portable before they started coming out over here. I doubt their sales expectations for the game are all that lofty anyway.

There was a time when I was seriously entertaining the feasibility of getting a Technika cabinet for myself, so yeah I have no problems with $45. I hope there's a demo for the curious since that's not an impulse buy price, but for folks that know what they're getting into I can't imagine it being a huge source of contention. Hell, I'm thankful it's happening at all, both on a home console and in the US.

Frankly, I can accept the price tag on this game given the number of songs it has and the fact that it's not a cut down version with songs removed due to licensing.

Licensing is a real problem, whether anyone likes it or not. This release seems like a premium product for enthusiasts; there's no way around that.

Physical copy for me. I want to be able to sell it later on, just in case I don't like it that much. Looks fun, but I have very little experience with rhythm games. Also waiting and seeing if Amazon decides to stock it. Would be nice.

Honestly, I'm kinda shocked they bothered to negotiate the rights necessary to distribute this game in the US... unless they just got worldwide rights, which is probably more likely. In any case, it's surprising that nothing got cut from the US version.

I mean, yeah, it's more expensive than a normal Vita game, but I'm not going to argue over $5 or $10. That's petty. I'm far more interested in playing the game than saving pocket change, because I'm a fuckin' G. Now excuse me while I go spray a bottle of Cristal all over a $2000 an hour hooker's tits.

I don't mind the price of the game at all. Frankly it makes sense given the probable cost of the licenses versus the expected revenue. The shipping cost for anyone outside of the US is rather horrendous though. I've had stuff shipped from Japan for cheaper than what they want to surface mail a small packet across the border.

Word to the 1%, blingblingaling ding.

technikatune is showing me the game as US$ 67 including shipping. My question: will it be worth? Do you think it will became a collector`s item or soon it will be all over store bargain bins?

Well it probably won't ever be in store bargain bins because I don't think any store will ever get the game. As it is now, the only way to get it is buying it directly from Pentavision. So I guess it's kind of a collector's item. It's only worth it if you think playing a rhythm game is worth $70.

I'd like to know this as well since they're charging a ridiculous $24 for shipping to Canada.

If this is direct only, any US bros want to help a friendly northern neighbor out as an intermediary so that I can get this thing shipped for a reasonable price?

Did you check the "change" button bellow the buy button at checkout? It displays different shipping options, the default is not the cheapest (at least, not for me, and shipping to Brazil was US$ 16.95).

oh well, I jumped in. I should have bough the HK version when I was there 2 months ago, but at least I believe the US version will be more valuable in the future.

I'm not sure where that button is, but I have a choose delivery method side bar that lists 7 different shipping options:

U.S.P.S. Priority Mail® International (6-10 days)$23.25
U.S.P.S. Priority Mail® International Large Flat Rate Box (6-10 days)$39.95
U.S.P.S. Priority Mail® International Medium Flat Rate Box (6-10 days)$32.95
U.S.P.S. Priority Mail® International Small Flat Rate Box (6-10 days)$12.95
UPS Saver (1 day)$75.82
UPS Standard (7 days)$19.48
UPS Worldwide Expedited SM (2 days)$74.00

I guess the small flat rate box isn't bad, but its still excessive. It's a plastic case, throw it in a bubble mailer for a few bucks and be done with it lol

You're not in the US? they don't really care about non-US but they opened it up to outside of US because people asked. but they are really catering to US.

Nope, not from the US. I'll probably end up getting it anyway considering it'll likely be way more expensive via ebay and such later, it just sucks I have to pay a premium for the same product when I live on the same continent. Ah well, first world problems etc.

What would be an acceptable pricepoint to you and how would you justify it?
I'm assuming $10 on the PSN Store. People often undervalue arcade-styled games. I paid $115 for the CE of this after shipping. But I'm fine dropping coin on music games. I paid $250 for my IIDX ASC.

Well, went ahead and placed my preorder. Not sure if it said it before, but on the store page for the retail release, it said "in stock." That can't be a bad sign, can it?

:-/

Hopefully it'll ship before I leave my law school apartment for Christmas break.

Picked this up during a Tokyo trip. This game is fucking awesome and this is coming from a guy who doesn't care for touch/iOS games. Plenty of songs. Some are hard as shit. I wish they had some IIDX songs in it. Or better yet, konami makes a IIDX 'technika' like game. But all in all, worth every penny even with the yen so strong.

For whatever it's worth, I think Pentavision said on twitter today: they've picked some winners for a free copy of the game and that they should start sending those out once they get their stock sometime this week.

So... I guess that means they're scheduled to get the boxes over the next few days.

Here's hoping they're set up to begin fulfilling orders swiftly.

Can't be that difficult to fill 20-30 orders.

I mean, c'mon. It's a $50 Vita game that nobody's ever heard of.

So if I have some save date + whatever unremovable sony stuff is on a card, I should be able to fit this on a 4GB right? 3.1GB or so?

I had forgotten the game was coming out, so it's a nice little surprise for me that it's hitting tomorrow. :) Even though I'm digital only with my Vita as is, I'd still be picking it up digitally just because I like having quick access to my rhythm games. Wish I had realized there was a limited edition boxed version sooner, though, loved the MAX Portable 3 box set and would've loved to have this one too.

Sounds good, it's been a long time coming. At least it's not like Phantom Breaker where my Amazon order was recently cancelled. Delayed for months and months, and now we have no news.

So, is this out on the PSN Store or something? In US, that is. Because I want this game.

Doesn't seem so yet, though the IOS game already got an update with new songs packs.
It will kill me inside if this game does not get proper DLC support at a reasonable price.

Oh hey hello clone-me!
I also picked it up during a trip to Japan last October; I never was a big rythm game fanatic (like the genre, but I'm pretty crappy at it) but I just LOOOOOVE this one. It gets a little while to get used to, but after that it's just plain bliss. Haven't played this last week, because of P4G and the Wii U, but played it enough to make it to the top 300 in Pop Mixing. Club Mixing is still kicking my ass, though.
