I felt nothing watching this. I enjoyed the first movie but it was pretty stupid. Setting the sequel around another angry guy seeking VENGEANCE makes me think the writers are being just as lazy.

Alice Eve though...thumbs up.

edit: sorry, deleted

Thanks for gifing that super-spoiler Japanese trailer I was avoiding. Really appreciated that shit. Especially considering how obvious it is that it's a huge spoiler.

Oh fuck man, thanks for the fucking spoilers.
Link was unmarked in the OP so I thought it was fair game. Relax guys. I'm sure that image will appear again in tons of promo footage before the film's release.

Not thrilled about another angry guy out for REVENGE plot and what looks to be another film heavily featuring Earth and humanity, but at least Abrams does know how to tell a story in an entertaining way.

Surely they won't go the Khan route though! Spock's death in WoK was emotional because of the bond the characters and the audience had with him. There is no such Bond with the Abram's Spock!

Coming for that Academy Award.

I wish we still had animated avatars. :/

I think this scream looks hot. Not sure what that says about me.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the extra Japanese footage is in the full trailer a week from now. There was no avoiding that.

The ones you should be angry at are Paramount and Abrams. If it's in that Japanese trailer chances are it's going to be in the 'proper' trailer as well.

But it's inclusion (unless it's red herring of course) is strange given the nature of Abrams and his 'mystery box' philosophy.

I wonder if this could be something we, and the Internet as a whole, could read too much into?

I'm convinced it's a swerve. Seems to on the nose to be a "hint" at who the antagonist is.

Looks amazing, and I will probably love it since I loved the first, but I felt nothing watching this trailer.

Alice Eve is hot as hell though.

Looks good. Less lens flare makes me happy.

And the villain does not look anywhere near shirtless enough to be Khan.

Nice they have a little Wrath of Khan nod in the trailer with Spock and kirk doing the hand thing. I guess they will drop the "needs of the many" line at some point.

Was it Wrath of Khan when they blew up the first enterprise or was it search for Spock?

Indeed, I thought they would do a few films before going down that arc.

Why are you guys complaining about spoilers in a thread where we're discussing the teaser trailers? If you truly want to go on full blackout, then be dedicated and just smartly avoid the thread. If you enter the thread, don't blame us if you see something that you regard as spoilery. Geez.

That...was pretty terrible. So its a Star Trek movie focused on earth, featuring a revenge plot exactly like the first movie? And the trailer has him narrating just like Bane and Mandarin? What the hell Hollywood?

The only real enjoyment I got from that was watching the stuff rise from the water alongside the Inception "bwaaaam" and imagining that it was a gritty reboot of the STIV plot, and the whales have come back to kill us all.

while it does look super different then the Trek we know and love, at least they had the decency to break this timeline off from the canon story line. Let them do what they want.

the trailers seemed pretty awesome to me. The first one was a hit with people that don't love traditional trek.

Well, their could be by the end of this movie. But I think it's more likely this is in the trailer to throw people off. I doubt they would put this in the movie and so obviously spoil it in the first trailer.

Maybe it's about the journey, not the destination. :3

The extra footage in the Japanese trailer actually goes a long way towards me not thinking this film looks super fucking stupid, as it happens.

Seeing the last scene in the JP trailer, I'm convinced this is Khan.kinda weird that it would be though, considering WoK's theme was about getting older.

Okay, the line "is there anything you would not do for your family" has me thinking that its one of Khan's lackeys, who worshipped him, and Khan is dead, and he's come back for revenge.

The revenge plot is still boring because it was the same thing in the first movie though.

I really want this movie to be more representative of Star Trek philosophy. Watching the trailer, I don't think that this is going to happen. :/

Yeah, looks more like a generic action movie but I like action movies too so I might like this one. Too early to tell, I'm going to wait till the full trailer comes out.

The Enterprise emerging from the water was very cool, but beyond that, there were so many explosions and shots of people's faces in horror that it felt more like a typical action movie trailer than one for a Star Trek movie.

The first trailers depicted a kind of majesty around the Enterprise and an emergence of James Kirk. I'm not really sure what notable themes there are in this one.

Cue shot of Superbatch falling to his knees in the rain, staring into the sky.

"Khan... KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN"

How is Khan dead? The timeline splits after the eugenics war, and it wouldn't make any sense to kill him off screen.
