Yes, it's a large Newfie (with some perspective tricks). Males are normally 143–176lbs. and 30ins at the shoulder, on average.

Fairly popular dogs, good with kids. One of my mother's coworkers had like 2 newfoundlands. Really gentle things, despite their size.

On Newfies being awesome: My brother learned to walk in between two Newfies. He'd get in between two of them, grab their backs and walk around and they'd stick right with him.

One of those dogs also ate a tree. It was only about 12' tall and an inch and a half across or so, but he ate the whole damn thing in a weekend. They are good dogs.
