And get Sony to make a Wii U version of Phyrengine that supports zero effort ports [like on pc].

Still, Nintendo needs to get in on the Souls action, whether they offer money or whatever. It would be pretty lame to not see it on the console at some point. If they can see the value in Platinum and Bayonetta, surely they see the value in this title.

Edit: Now that I think about it, imagine the craziness if the first ever live gameplay was a Nintendo E3 reveal. Would make up for any level of lameness at E3 before or after.

That trailer... I.... was that... CG?

Its a mix. Mostly camera effects and post processing to trick your mind into believing its CG.

Its live action though.

I think it becomes pretty obvious when you watch the movements of these guys. Specifically when the masked men draw their swords and attack.

These mask guys are a very cool touch.

IDK that walk across the bridge looked like gameplay, same with the scene right after when he was walking up the mountain.

could be a combo of both. i faintly remember the Dark Souls 1 trailers did the same thing. altho they had the ability to alter camera angles, of course.

Dudes are probably related to the Lord's Blade Ciaran.
Why? Ciaran's one of Gwyn's four knights, and you find all four of them in Dark Souls and its DLC.

I'm thinking they're just new stuff altogether, I find that a lot more intriguing.

I really love that image of the player kneeling at the end of the trailer. Such powerful imagery.

That PC version with Durante's mod that lets it run at any resolution and adds ambient occlusion and anti-aliasing.

I see, maybe they have such enhancements by default in DS2

I have to buy the PC version sometime :), would be nice in 1080p and AA

I just have to find the 100+ hours for such a playthrough

I suppose that is when it all starts :)

Death is only the begining

This gen could not have ended in a better way.

Fuck. 3 Souls games. Wow. To think, we all thought that Demon's Souls was a one-hit wonder never to be seen again.

Doubtful. My guess is these are the equivalent of the Hollows in Dark Souls. Basically the guys you have to mow through to get to the bosses, since they seem pretty common.

Because after all,
regardless of which ending you got, the role of Hollows in the story has ended.

I'm not interested at all. Demon Soul's taught me plain and simple that those games are not for me, but having said that, that trailer was pretty amazing.

Yes but Ciaran was the leader of the Assassin's.

There were more than one of them.

He might be onto something.

Yes, 100%. The actual game will probably look like the other two Souls games, hopefully more like the Durante Edition of Dark. Get excited regardless!

They might have you fooled.

Yes some of it was CG, but a lot of it was live action.

CG: Main Character walking through the sewer.

Live Action: Fighting scene at the end with the masked men.

If you really want proof pay close attention to the animation of him while crossing the bridge, then watch the part where the masked man draws his sword. Its pretty obvious which is which.

Looks like it has a story this time

I sincerely hope this is one of two things.

Awesome news. I recently beat Dark Souls NG++. I still have yet to beat DeS though. Think I'll jump on that to celebrate the news.

I'm going to name my first guy in DaS2 Boromir in honor of this shot. Poor guy looks like he tried to simply walk into Mordor.

Please make co-op with friends easier.
This pretty much. Going through Dark Souls for the 3rd time right now, doing co-op with a friend, and there were a couple of times where it took us like half an hour to summon each other.

Having to go through a level twice is kind of a chore. Sure, once you get familiar with each level you can get through it in a matter of minutes, but there should be a much more efficient way to play with friends.

If they improve the online portion to support real co-op, then that would be freaking awesome. If not, then it's still kinda okay, but also as disappointing as always.

Who knows what time this game will take place in. It could be late enough that it all becomes a problem again.

Well the narration speaks of the undead, so it's safe to say humans are cursed in Dark Souls 2. Maybe your actions in Dark Souls 1 were for naught, maybe it's a prequel, maybe you need to link (or not) another fire in a another land to save them from the curse, who knows?

I have the feeling that whatever you did in Dark Souls 1 didn't really affect all that much, so you're sent by that woman to a faraway land to find a cure for the undead curse or something like that.

Something like a Lordran road trip heh.

Also, we're led to believe by Kaathe that linking the flame is only a temporary fix, so if you do so you basically just stalled the inevitable. If you don't link the fire, then eventually dark will overwhelm the world, and who knows what'll happen then. In either case, you could argue that in X years from then, the undead curse will still be growing strong.

I'm feeling the prequel theory HARD.

"Dark Souls II retains the core essence of Dark Souls while evolving to present new twists and challenges that are sure to please longtime fans and attract new comers to the series. FromSoftware is going to take a very dark path with Dark Souls II; players will need to look deep within themselves to see if they have the intestinal fortitude to embark on this journey."

That's all CG. They probably just mo-capped the fight.
