If I wanted to get into this series do I start with Demon Souls or Dark Souls?
I think Dark Souls is easier to get into (death penalty is not as punishing).

Demon's is a bit less accessible, but I'd still play it first, just so you don't feel your frustration escalate after being used to the more forgiving "checkpointing" of Dark Souls. If I wanted to get into this series do I start with Demon Souls or Dark Souls?
Yeah, I didn't count the one in the Painted World because I thought "well that dragon's in a painted world, so he's not actually in the real world", but that could also be said about Priscilla, so I'm just dumbThere are two Undead Dragons; the one in Valley of the Drakes and another in the Painted World of Ariamis.
Oh my fuck, are you serious?
what is this feeling... in my stomach...
One thing I immediately noticed is how much this game looks like Skyrim stylistically.

Demon Souls. Everyone needs to die to red eyes knight.

It's just the colour palate and fur-lined costuming.
DSII's style is growing on me. Demon's and Dark were immediate, it has taken me a while to warm to this. I love the way FROM use light in the Souls games.
I screamed out loud when the cunt in Boletaria started running at me >:O
Ok I thought I was the only one that SCREAMED when Jessica said dark. I was like YES then when I was watching the trailer I thought it was a damn Skyrim expansion then as it was ending I thought it was Dragon Age 3 I was basically rolling my eyes then when the named popped up I had a heart attack cause I was right the first time.
I think it's how dragons were emphasized and the armor just didnt feel like Souls to me.
It's the armor and the world. The armor looks like it's straight out of Skyrim. A lot of the areas that were shown are also very reminiscent of Skyrim. Especially this one:

This is also the first Souls game that isn't directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki. He's supervising it.

I was saying "don't be Dragon Age, don't be Dragon Age." Then I saw the death animation....fuck.

The director's worked on Monster Hunter and it's still supervised by Miyazaki.
I'm not scared.
I'm not sure why he isn't directing.Oh he is not directing? hrmmmm...why?
I dont want this game to become to brave and try new things too much and become something else :/

I hope the Souls series do not become one of those milked series though.
I'm not sure why he isn't directing.
Agreed. While I absolutely adore Dark Souls, it reused a lot of things from Demon's Souls. Blighttown is a good example. A lot of enemies in Dark Souls share the same move set and attacks with those from Demon's Souls. I'd like to see them step away from that a bit with the next game.
But it also takes a critical eye to see determine what works and what doesn't when changing something.
I'll have to wait and see game play footage to really properly judge.
This worries me... I understand it can work with amazing results (God of War), but games like bioshock 2 and devil may cry 2 make me cringe at the thought.
If they release another sequel soon, we're just about getting there. I hope there's something there that takes the concept to a new level and not just a regurgitated Demon's/Dark Souls.
As long as the changes are innovating (rather than mimicking, like adding regenerating health or something), I'm game with whatever they come up with. It may work or not, but at least they're trying new stuff. Stagnation would be death to such original games like the Souls series.By supervised if you meand leashed and chained to desk and do whatever Miyazaki says i am ok! But Souls games are the only games i don't want their gameplay change even a little bit. Just new world and levels would be enough!
Those were entire teams changed over though, not a single member. A better example would be say, RE1 and RE2, where Mikami directed the first, but Kamiya the second. Granted, that's assuming this new guy is up to snuff.
I want new mechanics tbh![]()
I hope they get the PC release right this time. If not...cue Durante. It seems that namco sold a lot of pc copies of the first.

She sounds like she'll be kinda like the maiden in Demon's Souls. It gave me the impression she gives you that feather and sends you on your way.I can hear screams if they add a QTE kills! lol
One thing worries me is that woman in the trailer. I hope they keep the story as subtle as ever again. I don't want romance, women and drama involved with any of the Souls games.
What I want preserved more than anything is how seamless Dark Souls is. The majority of the world is one big interconnected maze. Aside from a few areas, there are no loading screens or anything like that. It's one of the best game worlds ever created and I want to see that become a trend of the series. There is also Dark Souls' controls. They're pitch perfect. There isn't anything context sensitive or anything like that. You control your character and they always control the same way.
I really have no idea what to expect with this.
That trailer didn't feel like Dark Souls at all. The trailers for Dark Souls 1 were awesome, and the videos for Demon Souls were great as well.
I hope this video doesn't indicate a shift in development focus, or "approach" to development -- Dark Souls has a perfect recipe. Sure, it could use a bit of tweaking I guess, but it's close to flawless, and it's definitely one of the very best in all of gaming.
It's just a trailer, I know, but Demon Souls and Dark Souls had a "coherent atmosphere" across the trailers, teasers, intro's, games. It just seems weird.
lolWii U :´(

Actually, gamepad would be an advantage for Dark Souls. And no hud.
Thats true, I was aware that Bioshock 2 was a different team, however I thought it was only a director change for Devil May Cry 2.
