I liked Deadpool #1 but it felt like it was making all the cheap jokes with no substance. The last couple pages were the best though.

May anyone recommend some Hellblazer trades? I haven't read that much it.

Everyone recommends Ennis and Simpson's Dangerous Habits and rightfully so: it rules. There's an issue in there that's mostly just two guys talking to each other over a beer and Ennis makes it sing. Can't believe that fucker was only 21 when he did Hellblazer. Most of Hellblazer is good but that's as close to a 'definitive' Constantine story as you're gonna get. Rest of the Ennis stuff is good, but not as good as that first arc.

What else is worth reading depends on who you ask. A lot of people like the Warren Ellis and Mike Carey stuff. Ellis is good but it's definitely a run cut short - his creative differences with editorial made him quit the book. Carey is...eh. A lot of people dig him but I found it kind of boring.

Brian Azzarello did a really weird but good run, with Richard Corben drawing the opening arc which is great. John gets
blown by a dog???
, if that's any indicator of tone. Azzarello is an American so there's something a bit off about his Constantine but it's still ace in my book.

Peter Milligan is the current writer of the book, doing it mainly with Giuseppe Camuncoli, Stefano Landini, but with the an occasional assist by Simon Bisley(!!) and I really enjoy it, though I get the feeling a lot of longtime Hellblazer readers don't. Milligan's gotten to a really solid point in his run now, where you just enjoy reading the characters, if that makes sense. Too bad it's ending in about 3 issues though.

But like I said, everyone has their own opinion on Hellblazer so don't be surprised if you... love Carey and hate Azzarello or something.

Read Planetoid #1 again to refresh my memory before moving on to issue two and wanted to say - people ought to be reading this.

Ken Garing's kung-fu is strong!

this was free on the comic app the other day. Good first read.

Azzarello's run is the most "controversial" of the big Hellblazer runs people mention. He's got a very...unique voice that he brought to Constantine. And you either roll with it or you don't.

Mina's run was the worst though, bar none. I think that's the one thing all Hellblazer fans can agree on. Stay away from that chick's Hellblazer and you're fine.

Ryan Higgins who previously tried to read Hawkeye but was turned off by the "vampires in the tracksuits" (his words) was finally pressured to retry it and I'll quote his thoughts on it.

I'm struggling, struggling, to get through Hawkeye #1. Struggling. This is so bad. The dialogue is almost as bad as DeConnick's on Avengers Assemble. I guess they both slept with Bendis and got the terrible-dialogue-aids.

[edit] Hawkeye in a normal hospital for months is the most hilarious and unlikely thing I've ever read in a comic book.

He also liked Bendis/Bagley on Avengers Assemble but hated DeConnick/Casseli which is way more baffling to me than Hawkeye Hate.

Deadpool #2: i'm not sold on it and those poor animals! Ordered through #4 so we'll see.

Also, Far Cry 3 started off neat, but i briefly heard someone say it doesn't run that well on 360 and YES THEY WERE RIGHT. Very sluggish.

Brah is just trying to balance out the force. Hawkeye is good but not that good. The Marvel bias sickens me.

I didn't grow up on DC Comics, so I will admit it doesn't have the same sense of nostalgia for me that Marvel does. However, the main things I liked about the DCU (legacy characters and a richer sense of history than the Marvel U where the heroic age perpetually started 8-10 years ago) were more or less wiped out during the reboot. I have tried out a lot of DCNu books, and will continue to try titles when they feature writers or artists I like, but I have been unable to stick with anything other than Batman. I haven't even read Green Lantern since issue #3, and I have been following that since Rebirth.

yeah, get him Cable. Quite literally, in fact.

Greg Capullo has come a long way

Wow that was Capullo? It's not bad but he's gotten a TON better. I think he does better with the simple stylized art he does for Batman. It'd be interesting to see him on another book though.

DOOM crying aside, i thought the 9-11 issue was good.

anyone reading Hellboy in hell? hot damn its nice to see mignola's art again

So, a black Avengers team.

I've got Adam, Black Panther, War Machine. Who else would make the cut? Falcon gets a pass - sorry, he's never had much personality. Are there any cool females I'm missing? Sorry Ororo, you're an X-Man for life in my Continuity! >:|

Went to used media store today and they had a shitload of 90's Mehvel toys. Was tempted to grab shit ass Toy Biz Spiral and giant sized She Hulk. :3

Photon, shuri, Luke cage, new power man and Dr voodoo. The pickings are kinda slim.

I'd like to see more Misty Knight

Is Photon the former Captain Marvel?

Who is Shuri? When I see that I think of the shortbus riding Canadian baby daddy member here.

Who the hell is New Power Man?! :O

I dug the Adam vs. Hyperion issue out of the dollar, dollar bin y'all.

Trade waiting. :X

So, Devil Dinosaur is in Avenging Spiderman? :O

Who the hell is New Power Man?! :O

Remember that awful Shadowland event from 2~ years ago? Fred Van Lente and Mahmud Asrar did the Power man tie-in for that. He had a Hero For Hire type thing going on in that book and met Cage and Danny Rand. Other than that he co-starred in a Power Man and Iron Fist miniseries that had him and Danny in a student/mentor relationship but hasn't really showed up since, which is too bad because he was pretty cool.

Photon is Monica Rambeau, former captain marvel and leader of nextwave. Shuri is panthers sister and temporary replacement while he left. New power man is a kid with the ability to power up with chi.

And Adam vs king Hyperion was funny because he took him down, and disappeared. There's a guy who could possibly give Mr power of a thousand exploding suns problems, but whatever, let's not recruit him to the avengers.

Looks like he's on the Ultimate Spiderman cartoon.

I don't know, I still like my popped collar Luke Cage, even though I know they replaced it with a yellow t-shirt. >:|

Jesus, Photon's costume. . . I prefer her old costume too. :(

Her new costume is a mash-up of uber generic and Gambshit. Trench coats as a superhero accessory are so 1993. :|

Hmmmm. . .

Anywho - I'm kind of hoping Hickman will do something with Adam.

Getting sleepy again. Time for bed. Again.

The jab about fraction and DeConnick is kind of funny because they're married.

God damn.

GOD DAMN!

Planetoid is SO good.

I'm ashamed I didn't immediately dive into this. It's quietly one of the best of the new batch of Image titles out there. Ken Garing is doing some fantastic world building, and he's not skipping any of the "boring stuff" which usually gets on my nerves with stories of this type.

This impresses me in ways that Prophet has not. From the actual execution of the ideas, to the draftsmanship. Graham seems content with name dropping and jumping from one "hey wow cool" moment to the next on Prophet.

Planetoid is the Image science fiction comic you need to be reading.

Ken Garing is too damn good.

Clone #1: Decent, but my main problem is that it provides a situation with no motive. If you don't establish why anything is happening then you have to bank solely on the occurrence being interesting enough to rest on, and it's not. Reminds me a bit of The One with Jet Li, also not a very good movie :P

Be careful in reading the solits for DC for March. If you piece it together it spoils a pretty big deal IMO.

I hope I'm wrong.

which books do they spoil? Green Lantern ones are their standard " we're talking about the next event before the current one ends so have fun" spoilers.

I'm thinking they spoil
the Bat Tragedy
which I put in spoiler text as just the name can give it away.

Oh and four issues in, Planetoid is what Saga wishes it was. Saga does world building and excessive swearing right, but lacks any focus or drive so far. Planetoid has this all in spades.

I would say that's on you then. Since GL didn't really even get rebooted. They pretty much continued from where everything left off pre-reboot.

Perhaps. But the whole reboot made it easy for me to stray from DC books, and GL was coming off a pretty weak story arch (War of the Lanterns).

Huh, does this mean Simone done with DC for now or does she have something else coming up?

I dunno, but I just checked her twitter and apparently they told her she was off the book in an e-mail. Couldn't even bother calling or anything, I doubt she stays. If it were me I'd need to be given something really cool to stay after being fired in an e-mail.
