Do you watch movies at all? Because it sounds like you would question a title sequence.
I usually don't watch shitty movies. The last time I saw something this ridiculous was when someone dragged me to see Eagle Eye.

The bottom of his mask puts pressure on his tracchea... or an allergic reaction to his black make-up... but it's based on real life, Nolan said it

Lionel can you gif the part of TDKR where batman, catwoman, and gordon have a blank look on their face as they stare at Talia?

Awesome gifs. lol at Batman's expression during Talia's death

Can anyone tell me why the last battle/segment took place during the day? Has Nolan commented on that? Just curious.

He wanted Batman to progressively come out of the shadows over the course of the films. The final battle during the day is supposed to show the people have rallied behind his symbol and he doesn't have anything to hide from any more, etc.

Thematically wasn't the trilogy Dusk, Midnight, Day? I think that could be the reason. Plus both of the climaxes in BB and TDK took place at night, he probably wanted to mix it up.

I just started watching it for the first time since I've seen it in theatres, but the sound mix is unbelievably bad.

I'm only at the plane heist and I can't believe how terrible Bane's voice is dubbed over the rest, it's like his voice is on 150% volume while everything else is 100%. He sound much, much louder than anything else, I'm constantly juggling with the volume control.

This sucks.

I believe this is intentional, but i've also heard theres an alternative sound mix option which normalises it?

The BB score is amazing, perfect mix of JNH beautiful strings and Zimmers excessive drums.

I really dig Myotis, goes from calm to crazy, I think it's the training scene.

Which makes sense. That is how the character progressed through the comics.

The redubbing they did for Bane in the plane sequence is atrocious.

Have we covered the Lazarus pit and Bruce's insistence on making the jump standing in place instead of taking a running start? Awful.

The only sound issue I really had with the film was when Gordon reacts to Bane's speech on the T.V. I still can't make out what the fuck he is saying (I have read it)

I think it's worst during the prison break sequence. The mix is supposed to convey that Bane sounds the same to Gordon and Blake at home, as he does for the reporters standing outside the prison.

I can't believe this shit. Screen grabs aren't working right, which has never happened. When I got a grab from that youtube video imgur wont upload it. My computer doesnt want the truth to be known.

edit: Now explain to me why Batman makes a jump from a standstill. There's clearly room for at least two steps forward.

Nothing about the prison makes any sense. Who is running it? Why? Why are there no guards? Who is feeding them? If you're free to escape, that suggests nobody is watching the prison. If nobody is watching, how is it that no one else has found the prison and lowered a rope? At least one of those men has to have a family or friend that would like to see them escape. If men are able to climb easily to the first platform, why don't they then send up supplies and build a platform across the gap? They clearly have metal, rope, theres a tv, clothing all kinds of supplies and yet these dumb fucks haven't figured a way out?

Cause he's Batman.

Okay here are my thoughts. I haven't read any of this comparison shit and I generally don't watch many superhero movies.

-The setup at the beginning with the 10 second blood transfusion doesn't make any sense at all. How could that be effective for its intended purpose?
-There is a massive shootout at the stock exchange and a huge police chase and Batman shows up after 8 years and for some stupid reason they have to count all trades from that night unless proven fake because they got his thumbprint? What the fuck? Of all the questionable shit, this is the one I cannot suspend my disbelief far enough to accommodate at all.
-I'm not going to talk about pacing and whatnot because this is a Nolan film and I always hated the pacing in his films. However, I will note that the quality of the writing went WAY DOWN. It was filled to the brim with cheesy quips and stuff. You can expect that from the Joker as a character, but from everyone all the time? The whole tone of the other Dark Knight movies was completely lost.
-"Give Gotham to the people" = Instant unchallenged rule of the people who once terrorized the city? ...because "no cops"? Come on, man. EVERYONE who had courage was either a crook or a cop?
-There was an unfathomable amount of dumb moves made by the cops. We can try to write them off saying it was at least 5 years since there was prevalent organized crime and they got soft, but it doesn't FEEL good to watch a bunch of dumbasses. The visual impact of the river of cops was just mind-breaking stupidity. You can talk about blah blah social commentary blah blah but if your analogies are so heavy handed that they destroy any semblance to possible reality within the movie, you dun fucked up. It's better to just be like other movies and Batman stuff and go "How the fuck did Joker set that up?" and let it be a mystery.
-Batman fights like a street brawler. He just tromps around throwing haymakers instead of flying around the area like a ninja. I know everyone complained about the warehouse scene in the first one but this is NOT the answer. He doesn't seem like Batman at all. I mean MAYBE he did some ninja stuff in the sewers that they didn't show at all, but that's an even shittier way of handling it than how he fought Bane.
-Hey... Bruce... everyone in this scene knows you're Bruce... why are you using the Batman voice?
-"Hey everybody, let's watch a nuke detonate"
-So this "Robin" is supposed to take over with no special training while Bruce is off with Selena? Is he supposed to magically become Nightwing or something?

I can feel the weight of a thousand other things in the back of my mind. I imagine I would end up tearing it to shit if I watched it while intentionally analyzing rather than trying to have fun.

One of those things isn't common sense if you can't see the ending is supposed to be the start of Robin's journey, not that he goes out the next day as Batman.

Yeah, the prison is just one of many things that make no sense about the film.

It's pretty weird how they thought this mix was acceptable.

Well anyway, 2 hours and 40 minutes later, my opinion of the movie hasn't altered one bit. I still think it's pretty much garbage. Such a disappointment.

Watching this movie feels like you're waiting for something that never happens, it's just all so shallow and meaningless. I hate, HATE the "city under siege/martial law". There's no sense of terror anywhere, no sense of urgency.

Not to mention all the logic and continuity errors. Bane janks Batman's mask off after breaking his back in the sewer scene [an iconic scene in the movie, if not the series], but when they drag him away literally 4 seconds later his mask is back on. Blake is on the bridge and gets out of the schoolbus in bright sunlight, green summer tree and flowing water in the background even though it's supposedly the middle of winter. So sloppy. Not to mention the tonnes of "suspention of disbelief" moments we all discussed to death here like like cops stuck in sewers for 60 days, magic spine healing through pushups, pretty much the entire prison segment etc etc. And the fight choreography was terrible in every single fight. As was every firefight.

I hoped a second viewing would alter my judgement a bit, but unfortunately it only fueled my disliking of the movie haha.

fuck this movie

Agreed 100% It's a flat out bad movie and coming off the heels of his last two Batman flicks, not to mention how much I enjoyed Inception its really, really surprising.

The whole suspension of disbelief argument covers things like billionaire crime fighter whos identity magically remains a mystery. Or for instance once Wayne exits the prison how does he get back to Gotham. He's a wealthy, tough, and resourceful dude. I'll accept that he just figures out a way to travel home. But when the entire existence of the pit, its purpose and operations make absolutely no sense but remains one of the defining ideas of the film then it becomes a bigger problem than suspension of disbelief covers.

You can make an exceptionally boring movie out of answering all of these questions, or you can just answer them yourself. No one's stopping you from doing either, dude.
