The least of DCs books is better than most of Marvel's, so I don't know what you are talking about.
You are also wrong about the Earth One books. They are interesting. But opinions etc.
JMS left Thor because Marvel was forcing the series to get tangled up in crossovers (The Siege if I remember correctly). I can understand the frustration of having a long term plan for a title and then having to adjust for yearly cash grabs. He has no excuse for what he did on Superman and Wonder Woman though.

I don't really have any actual idea of how the comics industry works internally, but I'd imagine that most communication between creators and business guys is done through email or phone call, since most of their work can be done at home.
When someone doesn't usually need to come into the office, it's actually more discourteous to have them drive all the way up just to tell them they're being let go. But again I don't know if that's actually reflective of the industry or not, I'm just giving DC the benefit of the doubt.

I really dont know, like i said my memory fails me. All i know is it was a villain that came from another planet. Doctor strange was there if im not mistaken.
The only detail i remember from the story is that this guy used to love somebody and that he fought against some people to capture control of another planet.

I think Snyder is a star and they won't do anything to piss him off. DC editorial and creators could copy Marvel's summits approach to make sure everyone is on the same page. It seems a lot of the time there is a lack of communication.
