The cutscenes in Twin Snakes remind me of actors performing in a theater or opera production, the body language and motions are too grandeur and sweeping.

I still prefer the claw hands, square heads, and triangle boobs in the PS1 version compared to rocket flips and Solid "The Matrix" Snake in Twin Snakes.

Fantastic

Wow, I completely missed this thread.

As soon as I saw the trailer, it screamed FOX engine from the get go....then I saw the mullet. Yeah, real subtle there, Kojima. ;)

Count me in the camp that doesn't think that GZ and this MGS 5 incognito trailer are separate games. Heck, I'm not so sure either of them are MGS5 or even the main body of Koji ptro's next MGS game. I think they are morsels of a general direction or aesthetic that will eventually lead up to MGS5.

I prefer it to the original.

Come at me bro.

what the fuck

Seriously, could you explain why ? I played both games back-to-back right before MGS4 came out and I came to the conclusion that Twin Snakes had very little elements that were better than their original counterparts. Here's a list of what I remember being worse in TS:

- Both Paul Eiding and Jennifer Hale's performances were worse. They sounded as if they did not want to redeliver all those same lines. They basically sounded as if they didn't give a rat's ass about the project. Neither heart nor soul could be felt. They were monotonous.

- Gray Fox's VA was different and worse

- The graphics looked ugly. Despite coming after MGS2, they were worse-looking. Especially the characters' faces; they looked so weird.

- First-person shooting breaks the game. The level design was conceived with an overhead view in mind.

- Crazy cutscenes incompatible with Metal Gear's own brand of craziness, designed by a John Woo-wannabe. The camera going "SWOOSH" all the goddamn time was unbearable. Also, Snake jumps off a missile.

- probably the worse offender, this track was MIA.

As for the positive, I think there was a second thing I had picked up on, but for now, the only thing I recall being better was Mei Ling's VA giving not only a better performance, but she didn't fake a chinese accent, making her in sync with the franchise's canon.

I'm curious as to why you prefer it to the original.

I beat Twin Snakes last week. I had to go with the graphics upgrade but I cringed hard more than once. Still such a fantastic game, probably the best I played this year.

I just wish this were coming to Wii U. Sony has proven they have absolutely no idea what they're doing. I don't want to have to keep my PS3. :(

lmao

Wow. I can't even comprehend how someone could think Sony has no idea what they're doing after using the mess of a system that is the Wii U.
In comparison to how Nintendo has handled the Wii U, Sony is goddamn perfect.

JonnyBigBoss (from the darksiders 2 DF thread) said:
Assassin's Creed III wants a word with you.

Runs as well as the Xbox 360 version but has huge gameplay perks with the GamePad.

Don't you dare say that doesn't mean anything. I'll take gameplay perks over better visuals any day of the week.

oh my...

Metal Gear 2 is really the quintessential Metal Gear game at any rate. Metal Gear Solid is like MG2 in 3D, and MGS2 is literally a recreation of the events of MGS. It all comes down to MG2.

It's worth playing MG2 just to see how much MGS1 borrows from that game, it's kind of interesting.

MGS3 is the greatest though.

This.

When I played MGS2 I kept telling myself: "This is just like MGS...in every way"

I understand how great MGS was/is and I absolutely love it to this day. But MGS2 remains the MGS for me.

So after being gone all weekend I finally checked this out. Can someone explain how the plot of this synchs with 4? I've only played 4 but I know the general points behind the other games. Is this a sequel to 3 with Big Boss then?

Sorry, I'm a bit confused. Does this mean two current gen MGS games in the next year? Or is this and Ground Zeroes the same?

Yeah its a sequel to 3 and Peace Walker. Think of the story as "a tale of Big Boss" when he was at odds with Zero. It probably wont have any giant revaluations in the greater MGS fiction or fill any gaps in MGS4's story since MGS4 went out of its way to fill in every gap in the MGS story that was created in 1, 2 and 3.
Like Portable Ops and Peace Walker it will just be Big Boss goes somewhere and does some stuff and meets younger version of some random MGS character along the way because Kojima is like that and its pretty self contented expect for the very very end in the end cut scene someone calls Snake Big Boss and someone says "outer heaven".

As for if its a different game or not. Well unless another studio is making it or Koji Pro Hired another 150 people it is probably the same game at Ground Zeros.

Twin Snakes is better than the original. All day, e'ry day. I like the original. But the GC version is definitely superior.

Better graphics. Better voices. More fun cut scenes. Better controls.

Better graphics, crazy action is fun to watch, no Mei Ling accent, Snake's eyes being brown makes more sense given the dominant/recessive gene plot in the game and I'm an unashamed GC fanboy.

Yes.

Also, I prefer TTS' controls and the generally smoother/natural feel in gameplay it grants. First person aiming broke the game? Nah, I think it fixed it.

So the corrected accents (Naomi's was corrected as well) and eye fix comfort you at a canonical level but Snake shooting a Stinger missile in mid-air and this

don't bother you? Because in MGS2 Solid Snake does not operate at that level lol and it's only 2 years afterwards. Closest thing is him slightly dodging Olga's bullet, but that shot was meant more to show the bullet itself almost hitting Snake, not Snake dodging. Also Twin Snakes never had this baby

MGS2 uses footage from both the PS1 version and the VR Mission expansion pack, not to mention MGS4 even has you play a segment of the PS1 version. The original is the purest one I tell you.

Twin Snakes has higher resolution, non crap voice acting direction, there's no reason to play the original when Twin Snakes is right there.

I enjoy Twin Snakes. It's absurdly easy since the game wasn't originally designed with first-person in mind, but it's a fun romp and I enjoyed the extra cinematic stuff. Kojima would have put that kind of thing in the original if the PS1 could have supported it.

The original on PS1 is still great, though.

I totally agree and I don't understand the complaint people have about the far out action scenes when Kojima himself has Raiden breaking the laws of physics, and Big Boss rocket launching falling debris with all the epic slow-mo scenery of the stuff in TTS.
