Yep, the summon sign is hidden behind the bush under the stairs. I didn't have to do anything in that fight with Beatrice covering for me, even in NG++.

More easily, take an high magic resistance shield with you. Dodge everything you can dodge and protect from other attack. When he come down, hit him hard

There is a new petition to bring Dark Souls II to the WiiU, if anyone is interested: Here.

At a certain point, were asking a bit much of From. I was surprised they developed a version for PC, but PC already has a pretty huge install base which seems to be growing at a good rate as well.

WiiU is a brand new console with a tiny install base. I expect them to see how the WiiU floats before before putting development effort towards ANOTHER console, rather than working on improving the ones it's already developing for.

I do think a Wii U version's possible, but I don't a petition will change whether or not that happens. We'd probably hear something around E3 if anything.

It worked for the PC version of Dark Souls.
I wonder how much of that was the petition, or just fan outcry in general? Though petitions are a way of showing that.

Still, for Wii U I'm thinking it's down to A. can they get it done in time with the other versions, B. will they WANT to maintain a fourth server for that, C. will the capabilities of the Wii U be a hinderance? For PC they weren't worrying about discrete servers for the first game (just fall back on XBL and call it a day), and system performance/capabilities were a non-issue along with how big the userbase is.

Moreover, I AM vaguely optimistic we'll see it, it's probably not hitting until Fall, and that's long enough to decide whether hitting the Wii U's worth it or not.

Its an even bigger risk since not only is the potential consumer base for said game unknown, the development costs on the new hardware and having to make new "features" that work with the Wii U would blow the budget way up.

Waste of money and time.

Depending on how easy it is to port it's probably easy money, the bigger problem is if, say, the weaker CPU gets in the way (VERY probable given that's something that can bottleneck it badly on PC), if it costs a lot to maintain server space for that, and if most of the people who have a Wii U wouldn't just get it elsewhere anyway. We mainly wanted PC to get better performance out of it for those of us that already had a PS3 and/or 360 (which they failed spectacularly at though Durante salvaged it, hopefully they don't make that mistake again), whereas Wii U seems more useful for off screen play assuming they play it smart and use the screen only for that or to display equipment/stats/whatever.

Though to be honest, for a game like this you probably want to CONSOLIDATE the userbase, and unless you can get servers shared it's better to limit platforms, at the very least I don't see the 360's being shared with anyone, and I'll be surprised if they can get away with cross platform Wii U/PS3. At best PC can share with PS3 and/or Wii U, but not 360.

I think porting the game to PC and using GFWL was so similar to the process of using XBLA that it wasn't a huge effort on their part. Developing for the WiiU (+ gamepad) would probably prove to be much more difficult and may not have a big payoff.

Pedantic nitpicking aside (XBL, not XBLA! They might not even keep XBLA in the long run!) it sounds like using the Game Pad's not really that hard. You wouldn't want to take the effort for unique functionality in a manner similar to ZombiU, if anything trying that would kill one of the biggest reasons people would probably want this on Wii U (off screen playing), and I can't imagine it being THAT hard to put filler like stat display there when it's being played on a TV, if you don't just double it in the first place. But like said the CPU could really screw it all up.

Come to think of it, we may need PhyreEngine properly ported over to Wii U, and I half suspect Sony's in no big rush for that. Doubly bad if From has to do it themselves, THEN I can see that being a serious hurdle.

Off screen play, for me, would be the greatest thing they could implement.

Regarding a potential Wii U port, Dark Souls was already quite CPU bound in larger areas. I'm not saying it necessarily has to be, but I don't think they'd have an easy time of it. At all.

Yeah, if Nintendo took a few extra steps to ensure it fully (or at least almost fully) outclassed the current consoles I bet it'd be a complete no-brainer for, well, any game that didn't depend on the specific architectures of a console (probably PS3) or certain features like analog buttons/triggers. As is, unless they're drastically lowering the CPU burden or moving to another engine entirely I doubt it'd turn out very pretty.

Didn't Sony do something similar at least with UE3?

UE3 was a HUGE deal, so it was definitely a priority to get it working well for ports. PhyreEngine doesn't seem to be too widely used, mainly by Japanese companies that'd keep their games on Playstation anyway. Hell, I bet if Dark Souls had a different publisher that could easily have stayed PS3 exclusive internationally like it is in Japan (well, before the PC version anyway).

A bit off topic but that reminds of the rumor of Nintendo doing something similar this time with UE4 and using Retro to prove the WiiU was up to running the game at a level Epic found pleasing. No idea whether that was even confirmed or disproved.

Yeah, after work i'm going straight to the shop and buying the first game.
I absolutely love the designs of everything, especially the knight.

Yeah i hope that knight armor is in the game. From Software has a tendency to bring a spotlight on an a specific armor.Fluted Armor for Demon's Souls, Elite Knight Set for Dark and hopefully this is the final design for Dark Souls 2 because it looks amazing.

Bought the PC version, patched all the shit GFWL, learned how to change the language settings, let's do this!

God, GFWL is such shit. But hey, more achievements for my non-existent X360 account lol.

Seeing as the trailer, title to said trailer, and the Youtube annotation all imply, there's a bigger emphasis on dragons in the game. But weren't the dragons mostly extinct during the events of Dark Souls I?

Pretty much but I am sure they can work around that...or they just do a prequel.

Yeah it looks fantastic, seems a bit more "nordic" if that makes sense.

Maybe some snow areas is the reason. :D

If you have not, also install Gamesave Manager and save your Dark Souls save + GFWL stuff every once in a while. I saved it everytime I stopped playing.

Perhaps igniting the Kiln of the First Flame has reawoken them?

But to be fair, even though they are supposed to be extinct Dark Souls has a large emphasis on dragons as well.. Dragon Covenant, Seath, Gaping Dragon, Valley of Drakes, Undead Dragon, Hellkite Dragon.

O, and Kalameet.

I was just thinking about a way to get players involved with the story and a way to stop them running off to Wiki all the time.

How about having a Library/Museum in the world somewhere and players come across hidden books, scrolls, carvings etc in their games and they have to take them to the Library. Gradually it gets filled with all manner of lore bits and bobs. Not just plot stuff, keep that for the game but all those item descriptions etc, tie them all into character info, place info.

Not just rows of text as well. Have players find broken swords, pottery, skulls and build up Library/Museum, hell the community can work together to rebuilt an ancient dragon or something. Anything to keep players in the world.

Wow. This sounds amazing!

This sounds like a great idea. So like, different items, shards, pages of text, etc to find on different servers?

Now this I can get behind.

Yup. You don't want them thrown out like candy. There are whole books but you have to find pages. You could even assign different objects to servers and they have to work together to build it.

For those that don't want a true co-op thing going on, this could be an idea that pulls them out of their lonely trek of doom to a wider world with other people in it. You had glimpses of this in Dark Souls when you rang the bells. You were alone but you knew other people were out there.

At this point I would almost want Archaeology as a skill and have players dig things up. :D

I really love the idea of a library not only filled with scrolls or books, but also with items or actual pieces of weaponry. And this is basically what we already all do with our inventory, keeping the Monk's Head Collar or the set of Thorns because they are some kind of memorabilia.

Goddamnit

All this DS2 talk is making me want to play Dark Souls again. But my gaming PC is all boxed up, in a room full of boxes, waiting for a house move.

Gotta wait a month. Gahhh

O, and Kalameet.

Kalameet was in the past, though.
And Seath was allowed to live, as he betrayed the other dragons

Also we don't know what's happening in the other countries, which are just mentioned in DaS.

Oh Lawd is this real life?!? I feel the bliss but my body is not ready! I need to complete my latest character and activate the DLC.
