Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

After the last Donner films and Superman Returns, I'm done with what Hollywood considers "light-hearted" Superman.

Agreed completely. I have my light-hearted Supes. I've been clamoring for a different take on Superman, and this is it.

I have to admit I'm finding it pretty hilarious how many posters are praising the trailer for hinting at a film that explores a more emotional look at Superman instead of a film with just action scenes.

2006 called.

No, it didn't.

Also Real estate vs. Zod.

hmmm

If you compare it to CC trailer, it just shows how big impact has the music. CC trailer felt dark and epic, and more like Batman Begins (especially with first few shots).
Chorus, narration, and underwater Clark makes this one feels a bit too much like Superman Returns.
I still think movie will be good, and at least better than Superman Returns.

I don't give a rat's ass about Superman, and I don't like Snyder as a director. The trailer was ponderous, but I'll wait for the reviews.

Real estate speculation was Lex Luthor's plan in that film. That is all.

"...let them die!?"

"...maybe"

Wat

Doesn't seem like something Jonathan Kent would say. Didn't Clark credit his parents on his sense of right and wrong? Will be interesting to see if they shift from that, and its Clark's inherent sense of morals that conflict with his parents desire that he be hidden from the world at all costs

Pretty good trailer, nothing special. Music was great though.

I'm a huge fan of Supes, dug the trailer.

I can see they got the human side of him down pretty well. I think that's what this trailer is supposed to prove, that the movie will explore the connotations of being Superman, the environment that leads to his existence, etc.

The second half of the trailer was all action, but there wasn't really a shot shown long enough for me to think "wow, that looks like a real spectacle" like I did in the Iron Man/Avengers trailers. But then again, I thought the same way about the Dark Knight trailers, and though they fixed that in the DKR ones I ended up enjoying that one a lot less.

I've always felt that a Superman movie has to be approached differently than the Nolan Batfilms, and that Superman Returns was evidence of that. But so far this trailer has convinced me it can be done.

So even though this trailer was nothing spectacular in its own right (not like Watchmen), it makes me confident Snyder at least understands how to approach this movie.

It makes me Believe a Man Can Cry (at a Superman Film)

I'll say the burning Cavill looks cool and so does Michael Shannon.

Also, forgot that they shot a few scenes for this in front of my office (at Chicago's Union Station).

I liked Papa Kent's line in the trailer. I mean, he's a father first and he wants to protect his son. That's admirable, and believable, and a hell of a lot more interesting than generic instiller of moral compasses before a convenient death that every other superhero has.

I still enjoy the origin story parts of this movie: the scene on a boat, trying to hitch a ride, looking like a hobo. However, the tone seems a bit too dark and it takes itself too seriously. Would rather see Hobo Kent on some wacky adventures out in the sea before he becomes Superman rather than being emo and questioning the meaning of life.

I'm really hoping it's a case of an out of context edited line just for the trailer. They do that a lot these days, where what's said in the trailers are not the actual lines in the movie. Because yeah, if Clark's father can say "maybe." to that and just turn away, it would be a disgusting butchering of the character.

I dont get why people are hating on the "maybe" line. Pa Kent is obviously very torn between having Clark save lives or get revealed and possibly taken away to be experimented on/killed.

Eh, at the end of the day he's Clark's father and he's there to protect him. He's worried about the consequences of him getting caught... the media attention, him getting taken away from them. This was when Clark was still a young boy and he knows that he isn't ready for that. So he's conflicted, just as any father would be.

I'm sure he'll be instrumental in Clark becoming Superman.

Pretty good trailer I guess but like the Iron Man 3 trailer it lacked anything that got me hyped up, show some action scenes or something I just can't get hyped from the hero moping around.

I actually really like the line. Like someone else said it's a much more interesting take on the relationship. It's just unfortunately really out of character.

Plus the CC trailer had Russel Crowe's narration as well which was powerful, along with the score.
