Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

I'm really hoping it's a case of an out of context edited line just for the trailer. They do that a lot these days, where what's said in the trailers are not the actual lines in the movie. Because yeah, if Clark's father can say "maybe." to that and just turn away, it would be a disgusting butchering of the character.

Or a more practical vision of him.

Jonathan Kent has been trash in almost every media depiction that I can recall.

Just watched the comic con trailer again. Even as a blurry mess it still holds up better than the new trailer :\

Well let's hope this movie actually provides a build up for a good Superman franchise unlike Returns.

EDIT:

Smallville's Jonathan Kent was a shining beacon of goodness (character aswell as acting-wise). No other good guy had his charisma in the show.

It seemed fine. I'm not really feeling the hype as much as a lot of others here seem to. I'm fine with dramatic films, but I just hope it's not just "Desaturated colors and light whispering: The Movie"

Regardless of my opinion of Snyder, I'm really thrilled to be getting Man of Steel along with Star Trek Into Darkness almost back to back. Gonna be an alright summer I think.

I have to admit I'm finding it pretty hilarious how many posters are praising the trailer for hinting at a film that explores a more emotional look at Superman instead of a film with just action scenes.

2006 called.

This, the Singer hate train will roll on though while revisionists will forget the hate they through at returns for making Superman 'emo'.

As for people wanting action without an attempt at character depth you've got that with Avengers which was incredibly boring because nothing mattered. I still have no faith in this movie because a hack is writing it but at least it'll look nice and will have more action than Returns.

Also the comic con version of this trailer was way better, especially the music.

I just think it's unfortunate that such a splendid tune that is already attached to the franchise is not used (in any way) by them, instead we get ... well...I'd almost say "generic epic music", just didn't do it for me. Hopefully Zimmer can finally deliver something that is also memorable, something which I miss these days. Trailer itself is okay, it's really the music that kinda ruins it for me.

Well all the music in the trailers so far (besides the last minute?) are placeholder so far. But if they go for that kind of tone, I won't mind. Zimmer shouldn't set out to match the Williams' score because he just can't. I don't think he will anyways because he's pretty damn lazy these days, but hopefully he is a bit inspired for this film. Don't need another one of his booming soundtracks; more Thin Red Line, less Inception/TDK plz.

Hype.

Although I'd rather they have released the comic con trailer in HD, was much better.

Yeah, I thought "maybe" was quite literally one of the best things in the trailer.

It was surprising, a bit shocking, and another firm point which says "this is a new idea for Superman".

It's certainly not the Pa Kent from the comic books. Having said that, they're setting him up to be an overly concerned parent, and I don't think any parent in the world would tell their kid that it's alright to risk their own life to save someone else.

no, it's time to put the music from the donner movies to rest. as good as it was, it's tainted by superman returns.

Superman Returns had a whole host of problems, but nostalgia for the old films was a big one. Let it die. That nostalgia has been holding back Superman for a long damn time.

I couldn't take much of that show. I think I've watched maybe 4-6 episodes of it's entire run based upon recommendations, always was terribly disappointed.

I recall some silly episode where he had to choose between the death of his father and some girl.

I thought it had some really cool shots - the bus falling track p.o.v shot, the gravity on the rocks before te flight (first time supermans flying seems to feel like a real sense of weight), some cool "lens flare" money shots.

Zack snyder has a great eye for imagery. Also the muted colors suit my taste better. I always find superman the most boring and cartoony of a character so a batman begins like origin story seems interesting.

My fav thing about nolan bat films was the first half origin story. I cant wait to see what they do with the most boring hero.

Also om liking the pattern herr. Introduce zod, then bring in the arch enemy in the sequel. I hope they set up lex luthor's presence properly then cast a good actor for movie 2

Funny. I hope he plays as small a role as possible in these films.

Hopefully Zimmer gives this one an actual, real theme unlike Batman which felt like it had a couple of motifs instead of a full blown theme.

Yeah, I hope he goes the TRL route instead of Inception/Batman... it fits much better IMO. But I doubt it. :(

I agree the music in this trailer was not as good as in the CC trailer... someone make a cut please!

Very nice trailer.
I fall in the camp that prefers the new gritty version, especially now that we are done with Batman (at least for the time being).
For people who like it more lighthearted, there will always be the old movies and Smallville (lol). And perhaps the rumoured Justice League movie, too.
I have nothing against more cartoony takes on superheroes, as I really liked The Avengers. But it didn't stick with me as long as, say, the Dark Knight trilogy.
With Marvel's movies, there's enough goofiness for me, DC can stick to the dark stuff. Anyways, hope the new Supes is good!

No, I don't actually believe that the teaser that had GAF collectively creaming their pants was any good. You got me!

People were hungry for a new Bond film. A teaser with Craig saying, "Kept you waiting, huh?" would have made people cream their pants.

Or, you know, it could just be a goddamned fine teaser. People absolutely loved the therapy scene voiceover's usage in it.
