Man of Steel - Official Trailer #2

Zimmer really does have a thankless job on this. He better bring his fucking A game at the very least.

I imagine it won't be as iconic as the Williams theme but it will fit the movie perfectly. Although who knows, he might just do it. The sound he created for Batman is THE sound for Batman now, no matter what some burtonites might say.

I don't remember one song from Burtons Batman's.

I liked that taking flight leaving the fortress scene cause it gave me that feel of "this guy is huge, powerful, and could wreck the shit out of me with a finger". The ice cracks purely out of the push he does to elevate.

Superman movies always failed to deliver on that aspect, and its the main reason why I dont really like any of them even though I love Superman

As long as he isn't getting kicked by Kevin Spacey this film will be a step up for me. Even the act of catching a crashing plane and landing it was a snooze fest in Returns.

Man of Steel could well be shit but i doubt Snyder will fail on the action front.

There's an epic spoiler in the middle of the trailer.

MASSIVE explosion in the middle of Metropolis, presumably.

This shit is going to have action for sure.

Yes, and thats
perry and Lois
running for their life.

I'm saying he's questioning Clark's place in even defying the natural order. That's heady stuff, but not at all immoral.

I'm starting to think the three time I've posted this, GAFG has glitched as it's seemingly been ignored.

I hear ya, and that's exactly how I read it. Even consistent with modern day Kansas conservative thought. I thought it was a really interesting moment, it certainly made me sit forward a little bit when I saw that.

It went like this:

(children singing)
la-la
la-la
la-la
la-la

edit - oh shit jett has changed his avatar to some sort of.. super-bust

Having Jonathan push for Clark to remain secluded, while Jor-El pushes for Clark to become Superman would be an interesting dynamic.

Batman's 'theme' in dark knight trilogy wasn't even a theme. It was just some 2 note repetitive high octane drum thing.

Doesn't come close. I like Zimmer and the Nolan trilogy scores but his Batman scores are definitely more about action than Batman and is missing an overall theme for the tone of the character imo.

God why 6 months from now?

I spent the whole trailer thinking "where's AMY?!", and then she appears just for a couple of seconds at the end...

I don't know what to think, the first part looks so bleak and realistic, and then there's a guy flying with a cape. I don't know if the tone really fits Superman. Still looks good.

I disagree with all of that.

This is some of the most heroic music I've heard in a movie. And unlike Elfman's work, the entire scores in BB and TDK are quality, and they establish the atmosphere and tone of the movies perfectly. I really don't understand where you are trying to get at. And the two note music is the Batman sound anyway, which is what I was really saying. When the TDK trailer dropped and that music started playing, it was undeniably Batman.

New avatar is godlike.

I think that's the point.

How would the world react if there really was a Superman

Yeah, Zimmer's work on BB and TDK was fantastic (as was JNH's).

Pity Zimmer phoned it in on TDKR. It felt like he was trying to assault me through sound.

I really have warmed up to the trailer. I still think it should have ended more strongly and that Martha Kent's line reading sounded pretty awful. But otherwise I find myself watching it over and over now.

Zimmer's Batman theme is actually pretty thought out:

Hans Zimmer said:
I kept thinking and talking to Chris about what I thought the Batman character was. If there was an arc to be had, it was that he sees his parents getting killed – that’s the defining moment of his life – and he feels guilty for it. The theme is interrupted at essentially two notes: it’s never completed, because he never gets past this point. I spent three weeks removing notes from the main Batman theme until I got it down to just two notes. I am very proud of it. It’s always the beginning of a theme. It promises that he can become a hero or a complete man, but none of that ever happens, because he can’t get past that moment. If you listen really carefully in the first film, there’s this little choir boy at one point, and what the choir boy does, through electronic trickery and too much time spent in the studio, his note actually freezes and goes on for about four minutes. I know that’s really dodgy symbolism, but we literally froze him in time.

If he has a similar thought process for Superman everything should be fine (and epic)

Made one with Journey to the line :)

Although audio fucks up near the end.

God, I can't wait for this.

From the same TDKR Hans Zimmer interview I posted earlier:

Hans Zimmer said:
There’s a cue from The Thin Red Line which I now call The Forbidden Cue because it’s appeared in more temps than anything ever. If you ever put that thing in, I’m not going to come and see your movie!

Wonder if that's the reason they didnt use that song in the trailer, because otherwise it fits perfectly.

Comic con trailer was the better trailer.

If they ever release it you will wonder why they didnt just go with that one

Hmm, not keen on the mood they show. Hate the LOTR-style music, the stupid narration, the depressing vibe. I like Cavill but this is not how I envision a Superman film would be.
