So what's it going to take? To what extent are horrific events such as this going to escalate any further before the NRA's grip on the powers that be in Washington diminishes and gun control laws finally become a top priority in this country? I can't even comprehend what those families are going through right now. I am both enraged and extremely saddened. An unimaginable tragedy to say the least.
 
why is it whenever there's a terrible massacre involving gun violence it's suddenly not kosher to bring up gun control and that it should only be reserved for a future time when said terrible massacre isn't in everyone's minds

I personally don't want anyone to know. Bury the fuck in an unmarked grave and let him be forgotten. But that will never happen. We live in the information age and someone somewhere will talk. As of the latest press conference, they have not given any information as to his identity, not even confirming the reports about him being a father of any students.
 
Horrible. The United States really needs to take a hard look at itself and figure out why such incidents are so common there.

Nope. There is literally nothing he can do, and I'm surprised no one can admit this. He has done nothing about guns yet the NRA has incited their base to levels unseen before. This issue cannot even be discussed sanely on a national scale without a certain news network playing the role of NRA propaganda piece, and there aren't any republican votes in the house willing to work with the president on this; I'm sure there are republicans who would want to, but their base would eat them alive.

If there is going to be change it has to happen at the state level. The black president "taking yer guns away" meme is too strong. Something has to be done about access to certain ammunition clips, and gun licenses.

that's what always scared me when I was elementary school. They always said in case of emergency we would all be locked down in our classrooms but then I never understood that because then the person shooting the school up could go from class to class where everyone is just waiting. Easy pickings.

There's gotta be another way.
 
Heart Breaking News, how much is the US prepared to sacrifice for the 'right' to bear arms. So many mass shootings & nothing, heart breaking.

And tomorrow and for the rest of eternity, everyone knows the fuckers name. Which is probably exactly why he went and did this.

Maybe the first step should be never revealing the identity of the killer. Just collectively as a people agree to never ever talk about the shooter. No fame, no "gain".

Put the body in a helicopter and drop it in the sea somewhere like Osama.

Too bad that won't ever work thanks to the internet and word-to-mouth being a worldwide affair now instead of local.

I completely agree with this. It was disgusting watching the networks broadcast pics and manifesto of the VT Shooter.
