Why do civilians even need fucking guns?
To defend yourselves? From what? Why aren't your law enforcement capable of doing that?
It makes no sense to me at all.

My mom teaches at an elementary school, I can't even comprehend why someone would do this. Crushing news.

Not sure what type of weapon he was using has anything to do with the story. Who the fuck cares?

agreed. that talk needs its own thread, definitely polluting this one to be honest.

you're talking nonsense, a lot of it, just enjoy your peaceful country and stop trying to get a rise out of a government/country that isn't your own.

Holy shit. They are saying an entire kindergardent glass is unaccounted for.

Maybe they managed to escape?

Also I have to wonder if it would just be better to allow people to have handguns as defense, or just ban guns for public use period.

On one hand, people would most likely think twice before doing something this insane, if they knew every adult in a building could have a possible weapon. On the other hand, if it was just a crazy guy with a blade or blunt weapon, he could easily be stopped with a taser or something.

Ryan Lanzah (not exact spelling) is the possible name of the shooter.

Being so young I wonder if the connection to the school is a younger sibling or a parent. Why the fuck would you go kill kids...makes no fucking sense.

What the fuck is wrong with people?

Things like this have permeated my mind at this point. It's to where I'm honestly thinking about escape plans when I'm in movie theaters, public places, etc. This stuff is happening way too often.

Someone let him in. Not on purpose, but they apparently knew the guy (he's a parent apparently of a kid in the school), and someone buzzed him in.

That person who let him in, I wonder how horrible he/she feels.

How fucking horrible

Depends on the shooter's connection with the school. Could be a parent or an employee, someone who did have access and took advantage of it to commit such an atrocity.

Also "security" at these type of places is usually just for show and to make the parents feel better. I've been at schools where they have an old woman posted up at the front door and make you sign in before you go in. Stuff like that isn't going to stop an active shooter situation. Even with the buzzer type system they have at the school (apparently from earlier reports), that doesn't mean anything if the glass or door can be broken. Not to mention the easiest way in, just getting someone to hold the door for you. 9 times out of 10, places where you need buzzed in, you could just "follow" someone else in and ask them to hold the door for you.

This shooting sadly reminds me of the Dunblane incident in Scotland in which 16 children and 1 adult were killed. That resulted in the ban of handguns across the country.

Who in the world would let someone in dressed like that, and carrying a weapon? How would you even hide such a thing? I just don't get it, but I wasn't there so who knows what happened.

Times like this really makes me wonder how there possibly could be a God.

How could it let such atrocities happen.

I fear that this story is about to get much worse. Please, do what you can to shield your children from this story. If there ever was a night to turn off TV, iPads, radios, this is one of them.

Yeah I think this is an important point. My younger kids won't be seeing any of this. Don't need my kindergartner scared for his life everyday. My 16and 14 year old are mature enough obviously

How is taking action to prevent future massacres a slap in the face? The slap in the face is seeing this happen over and over again while doing nothing but mourning for a few days. The country and world need to be unified in attempting to stop future travesties like this. The parents don't need you to mourn their child, they need things like this to stop happening, and that requires us to discuss policy and take action.

This mythical "action" part you are talking about doesn't happen, the proper word is bickering. At a time when emotions are high like this it is absolutely disgusting to guilt trip opposition into agreeing with what you say, and more likely than not opposition is also likely to be emotionally charged for an idea completely opposite to yours. Results: we are more divided than before and nothing gets done.

Now is a time for the country and the world to unite and condemn what took place. We have to solve this problem together. It's absolutely disgusting that people would try to divide us at times like this. How did you feel about the news when you heard that Romney only sent in disaster supplies to swing states after Hurricane Sandy (even though it was proven fake later)? What you people are doing isn't much different at all. There are victims here who are not going to agree with what you are doing, and you using their kids for your political gains; it is one of the most insulting things in the world. Do you people not see that? Now is not the time and place to discuss this.

Well this became a trend.

Who the fuck is buying and selling body armor? Does it even have a legitimate purpose?

Plenty of places online(eBay/legit vendors). There is definitely a purpose for some individuals, those working in less secure parts of the world or highprofile/wealthy people.

CBS coverage is terrible. They were harassing two parents who were trying to walk away from the reporter and their kids but the camera and reporter kept following people who dIdnt want to talk to him.
